Day for Night returns to Houston, TX on December 17 and 18.
I got an email from Songkick that says Washed Out is playing this year. Day for Nights social media has been teasing a lineup announcement. Hopefully we get something soon.
This was a really fun and different festival.

I think the line up came out sometime in late August last year. Would be nice to get something earlier tho. I had a ton of fun last here at this and would totally go again if I were going to be around for it. Hoping they pull a nice headliner off like last year with New Order. That was a nice direction to go.

This fest was great. New Order was a good get for this first year regional fest. I got to see Kunta's Groove Session plus Philip Glass, Holly Herndon, Nico Jaar, Flying Lotus, Battles, Death Grips, US Girls, Shamir, Prince Rama, and was blown away by Psychic TV. I'd definitely like to return.
Just based on the fact that this is a festival in 2016 I'm guessing LCD will be one of the headliners.
They're playing ACL in October though, so idk if they'd show up in Houston just over 2 months later... But I could see it for sure. LCD fits what DfN goes for really well.
I honestly have no idea what to expect with HLers for this fest. Last year was New Order & Kendrick, and I can't think of anyone who would bring in a crowd at that mid-ish HL level off the top of my head.
I still think LCD could play even though they are playing ACL but I could be wrong. I can think of an act along the lines of New Order that I would love to see play but I don't even dare say the name.
This festival was awesome and unlike any I've ever experienced. Very much anticipating this year, and regardless of the lineup, because I wasn't even that blown away by it and still had the best time. LCD is definitely right up this fest's (art studio) alleyway, but I agree, it would be odd for them to go right back to south Texas two months after ACL.
I wasn't planning on going last year but I got lucky and saw on Craigslist a promoter was selling two day passes for $50 so I bought one. I may have to hit the presale this year. Seems like it might be bigger this year and I might not be so lucky.
Interestingly, they're adding a Friday pre-party kickoff event, added with the weekend fest, it's $250. Is a pre-party worth $145 more? Gotta be a huge deal right?
Presale VIP is $600, which includes "Exclusive front of stage viewing area at Main Stages Access to VIP lounge Rapid entry Complimentary beverages + light bites + cocktail happy hour Swag bag with tshirt, screen print poster + assorted goodies Plus Friday Night Party Plus access to GA areas"
Got 2 @ $105 each plus fees which came to $239.40. That's a steal based on last year's lineup. I had no real intention of going this year, but that price for last year's lineup would be a steal +.

I just saw the Friday description on the website and was wondering if anyone got one. I'm really interested in what that will be and who all will be speaking. They clearly have something special planned since its significantly more than just the two days.
And yea, if anyone is interested in this fest, the $105 blind presale is soooooo worth it, imo. I'm not sure if I'll be in the country come that point in December so it kinda kills me to not be getting a ticket. I can't wait to see the line up. If they pull off something close to last year this could become an annual favorite for me. It's really, really awesome.
Ps. Not that it really matters, but Morrissey is out. Playing Houston on Nov 19. But no Austin date. That bastard. Looks like I'll be heading to San Antonio to see him.
So according to the Chronicle, the festival is moving into a plot of land downtown with a 5 story abandoned post office building. Haha. This is going to rule.

Musically, Afra says the 2016 lineup surpasses even last year’s, which included Kendrick Lamar, New Order, the Philip Glass Ensemble, Flying Lotus and Death Grips. Similarly, the handful of names Afra tossed out Monday are the sort of acts who are very selective about where, when and how they perform – they may only perform in public once every few years, for example, or have track records of live performances that sync up perfectly with the kind of omnipresent multimedia experiences Day For Night is going for.
I am so excited for this line up to be announced. They're doing a great job of building up anticipation.
Yeah. We just got 3 more. So that's 5 of us so far coming from NOLA, and 3 kids have half their Christmas presents. I'd love to stumble across some of the names he spoke about. Gotta figure out some lodging, but hopefully that won't be too expensive. I can't believe blind presale is still available 14 hours later. \m/
My wishlist is below. Tried to stick with somewhat reasonable acts.
Sigur Ros - Too big? Anohni Television FKA Twigs Blood Orange Preoccupations Moderat Jon Hopkins Nils Frahm Arca & Jesse Kanda Factory Floor Sophie Danny L Harle
Looks like New Order and Kendrick both played until 11. This is what I found in an article as the schedule is off the website now. I'm guessing Houston is a 2AM town (?) and probably would have some stuff going on around town. It's just that it's a big *** city, and I'm not going to even think about driving after these two days.
Kinda bummed that it won't be at the Silver Street art studios compound, I really liked that location for this festival. But from the little they showed about the new venue, it looks intriguing in its own unique way. Amped up for this.
I'm excited that I get to close out my fest year at the Rennaisance Faire and then a Post Office. Coincidentally, I started the fest year off w a show under a post office.
