well shit. that would probably get me back. hoping voodoo gets NIN though.
Just get your blind presale now, you know you're going to want to come back!
Is there anyway this $108 ticket won't be worth it? After looking at the past 2 lineups, I don't see how they flop. This isn't Bonnaroo you know
We didn't get blind presales but everyone I talked to is completely back in for this year including all 3 of my kids. We had such a good time, we are all committed to finishing off the festival year with Day for Night again.

I got a blind faith presale but live in Maryland and am not sure if it will be viable getting a plane and place to stay for the weekend but this fest looks amazing.
That would certainly get a guy out of an 8 year hiatus. Curious how much D.F.N. broke even. Would Jamiroquai cost as much? Yesterday, they are already making wild claims of "absolutely mind-boggling plans in store" for 2017.

Yes. I need some absolutely mind-boggling plans in store. Day for Night rules.
Edit that they still have some 100? Haha. Sold (hopefully tomorrow)
Fuck it. I went ahead and spent the $509.25 on 5 tickets. The remaining blind presales were only $93.00 plus tax. So that's a fucking steal for me. 4 Christmas presents have been purchased with now only needing to get a place to stay come later in the year, and we will be looking at that same Air B&B we had last year.
Glad to see esteban and tЯist♡n jump on those blind pre-sales too. No way it isn't worth it.
I haven't had this much faith in festival bookers since The Reverberation Society @ Levitation.
So cool that y'all noted the absolutely mind-blowing post from Facebook, because that's where I saw their next entry that said "they only had a few blind presales left." I know they went on sale the day before the festival started, and well f that because I needed money for last year's festival and then Christmas. But I had no idea they were still available. Got the 5 I needed and share your faith in them. I mean obviously it's not the best run festival, but they put a lot into it. What I'd like to see improvement on:
1) Change some of the odd time slots (6:20, 7:40, etc.) and the weird set lengths (often 40 minutes) to more stuff on the hour, half hour or quarter hour on the two main stages.
2) Try to notify the participants ahead of time this year if something is going to be exclusive so that people can plan for that accordingly.
3) Fix the access to the yellow stage so we don't have to put in all that effort for small and often unknown acts. Get them some exposure.
4) a few more port o potties around the Green Stage please.

Got the 6 I needed and share your faith in them. I mean obviously it's not the best run festival, but they put a lot of action into the acts. What I'd like to see improvement on:

Agreed that they could use some logistical improvements, and agree with all the ones you suggested. However, it won't be at the same location next year, so many of those points are moot. The idea behind them still stands though.
And ya, you can be sure they don't have a fuck up like Bjork Digital again. I just think they completely underestimated what a draw it was going to be. Maybe they didn't know how many headsets they'd have? But either way, they should have been more on top of it. I forget the number I roughly calculated, but I think less than 10% of attendees got to experience Bjork Digital. Hopefully they learned their lesson on that.
We need to make sure and meet up next year. Kept thinking I'd run into you, but never did.
For sure. I ran into Longinus and Sgt. Blotter early and a few times over the weekend, and I finally saw cmack late on Sunday. I missed you and Rummy and Fuzzy Warbles who we were trying to meet up both nights. Crazy shit. But this festival is too fun, too unique and we already know there will be a ton of stuff across a lot of different genres that many/most of us haven't seen yet. So that makes it great plus they like the eclectic shit, so that's good for me even if any specific act just turns out to be whatever.
I wish they would keep it at the exact same location. I thought it was perfect.
I loved the location too. But that property is worth millions. It's 16 acres in the heart of downtown Houston, the largest contiguous tract of land in downtown. There's no way they just let it sit til next year so a bunch of freaks can party there. It will either be sold, or the building leased to someone. The Post Office was just decommissioned this past summer.
And the festival creator has stated that having a new location each year keeps everything fresh. I can see the point, but that really has to be a logistical nightmare.
Well shit, never mind. I was wrong on the building being demolished. It looks like that was the original plan, but a developer bought it. And right now the developer is saying they want to preserve it and use it as a venue for various events. I'm honestly pretty shocked, that land isn't cheap.
Good for them, and good for Houston. Some pretty cool things will go on there during the years, I'd imagine.
Post HTX is the name of the new venue.
So who knows, maybe they do hold it there again if they don't find a better venue. I certainly wouldn't object.
I can only take so much of loud, unorthodox noises before I crave melody.
Oh I'm totally the same. This is why I'm attracted mostly to the more melodic techno producers like Kolsch for example.
I sometimes want to jump off a bridge at Movement Detroit every year if I get stuck somewhere listening to the same high hat from a speaker for too long.
