As far as Father John Misty goes... I'm super excited for that new album. Already got the color changing t-shirt of the album cover and now that I've heard and loved a few songs, I'll be ordering the album on vinyl tomorrow. I know that Robin and Josh haven't talked since Josh left Fleet Foxes per an interview one of them did last year (I think Robin). I don't know if that's just because of schedules or if there is animosity between the two of them, but Josh used to date Robin's sister so who knows how that ended. There could be a rift there that would keep Josh away from the fort this year.
Yeah I'm pretty sure the two of them didn't leave things off on good terms, although maybe time has cauterized those wounds. Who knows. I wouldn't think Johs would turn down Newport just because of that though, I mean there are multiple days of the festival, if he was really concerned with it he could just ask to play a different day. But I'd love to see how the crowd would react to a mainstage FJM set.

He should definitely be main stage next time he plays. Fingers crossed for this year but who knows. Good point about the multiple days... I think I failed to consider that because I've been imagining Fleet Foxes sticking around all weekend and popping up in other performances... not that they would be the type of band to do that but a guy can dream.
Upcoming Shows: August 7: Green Day/Smashing Pumpkins/Rancid/The Linda Lindas August 30: Waxahatchee/Snail Mail/Tim Heidecker September 17: Pearl Jam/Glen Hansard September 24: Idles/English Teacher
I'm fine with Fleet Foxes as a HL. I became a real Decembrists fan after their show and seen them twice since. I was talking more about those in their mid to late 20's, who one hopes will comprise the next generation of NFF fans. And it's t's just one of three days Even if we get a Paul Simon (who says he is done performing), there are two other nights. Oh, and did a little research, no way does David Byrne want a reunion. And agreed, they would go for the big money. I just think in these weird times, several legendary rabbits will be pulled out of the hat.
Firstly, on Father John Misty, was not a big fan going into Newport last year and was tremendously dissapointed in his political slacktivism talk. On the weekend after the Republican convention he is on stage saying he is not sure if he should vote. Going from him to see Patty Smith was such a stark contrast in values.
Secondly, two more names to throw out there: Regina Spektor Hozier (heard he has been great at Newport though he has nothing scheduled this year.)
Finally, the new Prairie Home Companion with Chris Thile would fit right in with a live performance on Saturday night. Like Garrison used to do at Tanglewood. His show is almost all music now and the style of music is spot on. Just a thought... seems unlikely, but it would be cool!

Yeah, agreed. FJM is a clown. Hope we won't have to see him at the fort this year.

Speaking one's thoughts on the state of affairs does not have to include political activism. Would I like it if he was out fighting in some form or another? Definitely. But I think he's someone who can't help but think in terms of the very big picture for the most part and it seems like he's still figuring out how to reconcile that with what's going on. Patti Smith has always been very immediate, so yes those sets were stark contrasts in values, but I don't think either set of values is more or less valid than the other.

Resales on stubhub and stuff are at $292 right now. I have no problem buying them off there if I don't get an official resale, but is it actually possible to do so?

Did it my first year, with no problems at all, although prices seem to be inflating.

I have a few friends waiting on the Lyte resale -- wondering when they should decide to give up + do Stubhub too...
There is tons of time left. TONS. Honestly, they will have no problem finding at- or close to face- tickets in July.
Yea, things come up that cause people to change their plans when closer to the festival date.
Ahh, good to know. I'm one of those people who didn't realize they had multiple tabs open when they first went on sale ++ then, only ended up with Friday + 2-day passes after the first few minutes. When 3-day said "unavailable", I immediately thought that meant "sold out" + went into panic mode. Just started throwing money at the site. Then, I guess people removed 3-day passes out of their carts -- so I was able to score the 3-day passes I originally wanted. Ended up all working out because some of my friends totally forgot to get online in time, but as you can see, I'm definitely one of those people who would rather have them ASAP... it's an always a rough day for my credit card when tickets go on sale.

If anyone here knows of a ticket up for grabs, let me know, please. I need to experience something new this year and finally get North of Virginia to visit all you lovely quackers.
Levitate Festival posted that they are Dispatch's exclusive 2017 MA performance. If they arent doing a Boston show they HAVE to be our announcement next Friday, right?.

I don't think it's a sure thing, but keeping my fingers crossed. I'm just surprised they're not doing their own Boston show.
