Keep wanting to edit, because its not a complaint. But I worry about a band like the Seratones at the Fort because of the audio mix.
Not being a Cassandra, but while bands like the Seratones write songs that are loud and ready to party, there's either something about the walls at the Fort, or the engineering, that sometimes mucks up sound, especially the bass. To paraphrase This is Spinal Tap: the bass and kick drum goes to 11...why not just use 10?...because they go to 11.
I've only run boards indoors & don't know the problems of sound dispersing and reflecting at the Fort, but I've heard some great mixes, and some real mud. A friend who used to gig at festivals claims every engineer is deaf. I think they grew up on MP3's. But not blaming anyone. The walls add a new dynamic for the mixers. I walked away irritated at the Quad during a Reignwolf set some years back, but as I reached the Square Space entrance, it was like, damn, this guy is a one-man Led Zeppelin who actually credits Muddy Water and Howling' Wolf.
So if its your first time, especially, you can move about and find the "sweet spot." On the other hand, if you want to dance up front at the Fort, you are there for the experience, and can't complain about the subwoofers busting your gut. I just hope they get it right for this talented band. Sorry about the long read. Feel free to wreck my comments And yes, I have been to many other outdoor shows, going back to $2 tickets in Central Park for The Who, Zeppelin, Zappa and Tull with their stacked Marshall amps.
I've been hoping for a Ray Davies presence this year and found it interesting that the only festival that the official Kinks verified twitter account follows is NFF. This has me even more hopeful.

Yup, noticed that a while back. Prompted me to get the kinks on my card.
So Old Crow Medicine Show performing Blonde on Blonde in its entirety has to be happening at Newport Folk Fest, right? Sunday headliner? (The tour will stop in Boston in May, but it just seems like too perfect of an opportunity to not end up at Newport)

Spoon only has the 29th off. I'd be down for that. Might be a travel day though.
Noticing that David Crosby off the road on May 26; Stephen Stills on April 15; and Graham Nash returns from CA April 8. The anniversary is 2018, but...?
Also Joan Osborn releasing her Dylan tribute album this spring, with no dates booked after June.

It appears that they could pull it off, as they do have other three day in a row runs, plus July is pretty open aside from the 28th and 30th.
I'm pretty excited about this one. One of my top albums of last year and I didn't get the chance to see her when she toured. Not surprised given that she's playing Panorama, still a great add though
First single from Lillie Mae, who was the violin player in Jack White's solo band. Jack's influence/production on this song is pretty noticeable, and I like it.
A Third Man-curated stage for a day is something that should really happen soon
oh snap! when we got to briefly go to third man records last week - met this amazing beautiful woman from Mass. went to school for music business. Moved to nashville. started her own restaurant. Worked with Neil for several years. sold restaurant. Now she works for Jack. " living my life as a 29 year old now". After some little talk we got into how she watched the first presidential debate with Neil at his house.. lots of yelling. GET OFF MY LAWN! Have a lingering wee little smidge of a girl crush and more than just a little feel of wish-i-coulda.
