I enjoyed their set at OBH. I have seen them at least 6 or 7 times, but not in the past few years (and I haven't really listened to them either), so I wasn't sure what to expect. I most definitely missed Josiah, but his fill in wasn't bad.
Was THATH the band we watched at Newport together and the lady singer had the REALLY bad outfit on?
Haha. I know you already figured it out, but yyuupppp! I just looked through my phone for a pic from OBH. I know I did snapchats, but it doesn't look like I took any real photos of them/her. I don't think the outfit was aasssss bad as this one, but I remember thinking to myself how her look hasn't changed much.
Welcome back Bonz, but I do not find it strange that your presence being requested in the Orgy thread and then you showing up, like it was the quacking Bonzai Bat Signal.
Upcoming Shows: August 7: Green Day/Smashing Pumpkins/Rancid/The Linda Lindas August 30: Waxahatchee/Snail Mail/Tim Heidecker September 17: Pearl Jam/Glen Hansard September 24: Idles/English Teacher
Offering my two cents of how I think the rest of the lineup is going to flesh out, could be completely wrong: Fleet Foxes- Wilco - Bob Weir & The Campfire Band Dispatch - The Head & The Heart - Gary Clark Jr - Dawes Old Crow Medicine Show - Conor Oberst - Shovels & Rope - Dr. Dog Gillian Welch - Drive-By Truckers - Charles Bradley & His Extraordinaires - Rhiannon Giddens Nikki Lane - The Suffers - Mandolin Orange - Kaleo - Angel Olson – Ron Gallo

I mean you're about 34 artists short, but yeah I think all of those are good bets. I'll be shocked if Dawes and Charles Bradley aren't there. Hiss Golden Messenger is one that someone confirmed a while back that you're missing. Also, the billing is kind of wonky but that can be hard to get right with Newport.

I've seen the Roots 3 times. None of them have really been that great. And I love their studio stuff. They're just much better as a backing band instead of playing their own music live.

I liked the Elvis Costello and John Legend collabs a lot!

Wow.
That's just, like, my opinion man. From my own experience. 3 very different settings, 3 very different shows.
So depending no the eventual dates of that "Classic East" festival we could end up with a host of classic artists in NYC around Newport. So far just Fleetwood Mac and the Eagles are announced to be headlining.
Yeah I don't know how I'm With Her never ended up at Newport, so hopefully this will be the year. So in addition to a Third Man-curated stage, a Chris Thile-curated stage seems like a thing that should happen.

I mentioned this last year, and I still think it can happen this year.
I can see Thile doing a Prairie Home show at the Pickens.
Death Cab are popping up at a few festivals here and there? Are they a fit for Newport?
Not a huge fan but they were spectacular at Bonnaroo last year. Wasn't planning on going but was waiting for a good spot for Dead and Co and they blew me away. I think they would be a great fit for a fort stage set, especially around sunset.

Interesting, I had the opposite feeling about their Roo show. I'm a pretty big fan, but found their set really dull. Never concidered them for Newport, they're kinda in the same vein with Spoon for me, but they could do a good acoustic set maybe.

Expectations can do wonders and be so destructive with live music.
