Interesting, I had the opposite feeling about their Roo show. I'm a pretty big fan, but found their set really dull. Never concidered them for Newport, they're kinda in the same vein with Spoon for me, but they could do a good acoustic set maybe.
Expectations can do wonders and be so destructive with live music.
It was a very typical death cab festival set I thought. I'm a big fan of them (or was when I was younger). It was fun to see them

Not to distract from the excitement, because this announcement is awesome and however that set ends up being arranged it's sure to be great, but does anyone else think Chicano Batman would be awesome at Newport? I hadn't really thought about it even though I've been loving their recent singles, but I was listening to their new album on the way to work this morning and realized they'd be a really cool set.
For those unfamiliar, they're a hispanic soul/funk group from LA. Both of these songs have been regulars on recent playlists of mine:

Listening to my NFF 2017 Spotify playlist while working from a coffeeshop today, and pretty much every song, I think to myself "Ooh - who's this? I like it..." So basically, NFF is killing it again, and there will be conflicts galore - but I know wherever I end up will be wonderful!

Agreed - they're doing very well so far - even with the more "expected" bookings.
Agreed. Haven't streamed the new record yet but the 3 songs they have up on Apple music are great, and, having seen the band a couple of times, excellent show.
Julian Lage is dating Margaret Glaspy and came out during her NYC show for a really good cover of Neil Young's "Harvest Moon." I imagine we'll get a reprise with them both playing on the same say.
Welcome back Bonz, but I do not find it strange that your presence being requested in the Orgy thread and then you showing up, like it was the quacking Bonzai Bat Signal.
