I've been reading you guys a long time to see who might play. You're pretty good at getting info about the lineup. I used to read the Boston Through My Eyes blog for that but the guy who ran it moved out west. He was fantastic at guessing the lineup. He's get over 60 percent of the lineup right each year. I think Choir Choir Choir will be great. I'm guessing it'll be a Leonard Cohen tribute with special guests. Possible someone associated with him or someone known for covering his songs. Brandi Carlile has made no secret about how much she loves NFF and didn't play last year. She has sang with John Prine in the past. I wouldn't be surprised is she's one of his guests.

Welcome Sean! Glad you came out of the shadows.
Oh my Brandi please come back! Fan since her first note hit the airwaves way way back when. Kills me that it's taken this long for her to get the positive attention she deserves. Proud to have dragged a few Quackers to her NFF set and converts were made.
I dont think anyone in this thread would even suggest that NFF is not a magical, one of a kind experience year after year after year. There are just some big dreamers in the group. (And sometimes dreams do come true.)
That's a tough one. I've only gone the past two years. I'm a sucker for Edward Sharp so I have to go with their set last year. He didn't get going for the first several songs but when he did it was everything I hoped for and some. I love audience interaction and he spent most of the set in the audience. It had everything. He let people tell their stories. There was drama when he showed up late. There was laughing. There was tears. There was the presentation hall band playing Home. I wish I'd seen Hozier in 2014 instead of 2014. And I wish I'd seen the Oh Hellos in 2014 instead of 2015.
I've seen Bon Dylan, Paul McCartney, Brian Wilson and Regina Spektor the past few years. Regina was the best of them all. When my kid asked for an autograph afterwards on a receipt she sent one of her staff back inside to get a CD and signed it for him. She is a true lady and a true talent. I'm from Ireland originally and today St Patrick's Day. I brought you guys good luck haha.

I think a lot of the issues that cause disappointment (if you can call it that) are simply taste-related. I like music with a bit more "bite" so a lot of the typical "folk" music doesn't do it for me, and Newport always fills in with a lot of different types of music. That being said, while I may not be excited for say, Rhiannon Giddens or Regina Spektor, I know that there will be at least 1 other band playing while they are that'll keep me entertained.
If Jay Sweet reads inforoo, I'd be shocked and hope he's not obsessing over the opinions of this page..
I wish I'd seen Hozier in 2014 in addition to instead of 2015. And I wish I'd seen the Oh Hellos in 2014 in addition to instead of 2015.
Fixed that for you, and Yes, yes you do! They were both amazing sets!
Yeah. I saw both sets but much preferred 2014. There was way less hype around him that year so the smaller more attentive crowd helped make that set better (Even though I didn't stay for the whole set because I think Deer Tick was playing the main stage at the same time).

I was on top of the world until she was announced for Friday. Now I'm worried she'll be closing the Quad and I was planning on skipping whoever closes the Quad to ensure a good spot for Fleet Foxes. I'm really hoping she's pre-headliner on the main stage.

I'm cool with that correction. But it would have seen so sweet to see them at the smaller stage. I have stage envy.
Last year was not my favorite year. It had plenty of potential.. In hindsight other then the horrible heat on Saturday the issue in my mind was that 95% of my must-see's were on the big stage. agree exponentially that the #1 thrill of NFF is the smaller stages.
On another note Even with Ronco 3000 sunscreen i can not be in the sun more than an hour for the day so i can't do rail/up front for the main stage. If we are not allowed shade structures against the back fence this year it will be a game changer for me. Since i've already joined the skin cancer club, I have to schedule my 6 mth check-ups 'just so' to be sure my post NFF freckles have time to fade..

Same for me, I spent most of the festival last year looking for shade. Maybe we can invent some kind of invisible, sun shield, umbrella hat to wear before Newport this year.
I made a mock lineup/schedule. A little on the stacked end of things, and I'd love some names I don't know/like less to alleviate some of the conflicts. But let me know your thoughts. I'm sure we'll have plenty of billing disagreements!

Karen Elson is also an interesting choice. I feel like she would be a little earlier in the day, but still definitely on the harbor stage. Nice job Strawman

Thanks, I've got a lot of time on my hands! And yeah, I'm thinking of putting her where I have Carl Broemel and then putting someone else between her and Rhiannon. Getting rid of Carl
Brand new to this board, been checking it out for a while and figured I'd join. This is my 5th year going to Newport and I got to say it is by far my favorite weekend of the summer
