I agree with many of these predications. I've still got this crazy hunch about The Kinks.
This may or may not mean anything but the only festival the Kinks follow on twitter is Newport. Fantastic Negrito has got a vibe that fits in at Newport...Here's to hoping !!
Yes, I saw that a while back. Cat Stevens and Kinks

I've specifically avoided including them in mocks because Jay has said they grew outside Newport's price range. Glad they worked it out! So that's our Sat. headliner?

Haha, yeah he said that he would see them "on the way down" I guess they are on the way down.

Had to wait for the official announcement to believe it. Thrilled to see the Avetts back at the fort! I was thinking maybe we'd be seeing just Seth this year given his new solo album came out today. Happy the whole crew will be there! I hope we get a setlist that leans towards their roots.

Yeah, because that new album sucks.
I hope they put out a Third Gleam someday. Or at least another record produced by any combination of themselves/Dolph Ramseur/Doug Williams...
Welcome back Bonz, but I do not find it strange that your presence being requested in the Orgy thread and then you showing up, like it was the quacking Bonzai Bat Signal.
Awfully early in the lineup announcement to have all 3 headliners announced, so I'm guessing either Fleet Foxes or John Prine isn't a headliner. For me, it's hard to imagine that either of them is not a headliner, but thinking something epic is in store for Friday or Sunday.

Good point and I hope you're right. It would make the whole weekend amazingly epic. In Jay we trust.

"Beware the curse of compounding expectations…."
If there is another major headliner, what is there? Bon Iver? Maybe they got The National? Tom Petty has the 30th available.
I can't imagine Eaux Claires pays all that much. Probably more than Newport can, but I'd still be surprised if he's getting his usual rate. But that Newport tweet a couple weeks ago did make it seem like they hadn't booked him yet

Newport doesn't usually have wristbands unless you leave and need re-entry.
EDIT: At which point it's the cheap 21+ type bands. So second hand would just be like second hand for any other show.
thanks! 98 people are ahead of me so if need be I'll just spend the extra $60
On entry to NFF on a number of occasions we've seen people fail the ticket scan. Be wary of resellers. NFF has an authorized reseller and in the past tickets have been available via that route close to festival time.
Not a big blue glass / country guy, so a wee underwhelmed this year, but never know. I'm liking The Wild Weeds, who I'm just starting to listen to...and, of course, John Prine.
But ever year there is something so not obvious Newport, so yes Waters, White, even Patti Smith. Maybe it would have been Chuck Berry.
Three wacko thoughts: 1) The Springstein -- Prine -- Seeger connection; 2) Keith Richards; 3) David Byrne.
Couldn't help but chuckle at the "Wild Weeds" reference. As a CT Yankee boy I can tell you that the Wildweeds were a CT band led by Al Anderson who went on to play guitar for NRBQ for 20 years:
