Already explained this, but once again I still wouldn't call them a "good fit," but that doesn't mean they can't be booked
EDIT: I'll also add that branching outside what makes for a "good fit" is often a good thing for a festival and is something Newport has done time and time again to great success
So this now went from questioning everyone's intelligence to praising Newport for being "innovative"
Yeah, I have to imagine the two artists left for Friday are on the bigger side. At least in the top half. My current predictions are Sylvan Esso and Valerie June

EDIT: Carl's Newport royalty status earned him some seriously high booking.
And likely 2 more announcements left for that day too. So I'm sure it will get more impossible to handle. Lol
Wonder what the chances are that Andrew Bird could be there on Friday. He has east coast dates on Saturday and Sunday.I just got tickets to see him with Esperanza Spalding here on the 25th.

I'm not sure if would make a ton of sense for him to leave the South to come up to Newport and then go back down just to have to come right back up during the following week.

Agreed but this is already one heck of a zig zag pattern to a tour.

PA is pretty much a straight shot west to east. Then south from there. Still hoping he'll be there.

I just think wilco would be more likely to play if it was an off year for solid sound. Certainly they look obvious but maybe they wouldn't want to take away from their own festival

Plus, who closes between Wilco and the Avetts?
I feel like Wilco have been a top(ish) name for longer but Avett's seem bigger at this point in time. That's a tough one. I'd be fine with either and would request a crossover (Jeff Tweedy comes out with Avetts and the Avetts come out with Wilco or something like that).
Welcome back Bonz, but I do not find it strange that your presence being requested in the Orgy thread and then you showing up, like it was the quacking Bonzai Bat Signal.
