I suspect that today's announcement would have been Chuck Berry and Whitney would have been announced around the time they announced the tribute. It'll be interesting to see who will play at the tribute.
I like his voice more than Leon's, definitely a good add, just seems weird for final 5. But oh well, I get to see Fleet Foxes at the Fort, everything else is just a bonus
So he was booked for a festival in the U.K. On Saturday and it's listed on his site. However, it's not showing on the UK festival site. Maybe he was a late add for us.

Odd. fwiw it also hasn't been listed on Newport's site yet
Might be cool for people who didn't get the artists they hoped for to sell their tickets to the folks waiting way down the waiting list who want to go. I ain't selling mine. I got a festival worth of artists I want to see and that's just Friday. Can't wait to see Regina again and The Head and the Heart for the first time.

It's possible to be both really excited for a lot of artists and disappointed with other parts of the lineup.
After all, it's likely that the people on the waiting list didn't trust Newport back in December or November when they went on sale. Most people that got them then want to be there regardless.
I mean like I said, everything after Fleet Foxes was a bonus. Also, if they did manage to get Megafaun and/or Monsters of Folk happens then they can book all the Mt. Joys and Joshua Hedleys that they want.
And that wasn't directed towards anyone in particular. I just understand how someone that dedicates to the rolling lineup can get disappointed when they might expect a little more.
I'm pumped for July , and know it's gonna be a dandy.
That's true. Takes dedication to get there. Get a blue screen of death in first five minutes and you're taking your chances on the secondary market. I didn't know Dr Dog or Michael kiwanuka until NFF announced them but now I love them. I rely on NFF to clue me in on the best music I don't know. Here's top ten songs off top of my head I hope to hear this year (so far). Be interested in other people's list. Maybe I'll discover a great song I don't know. 1. Regina Spektor - Samson 2. Feet Foxes - Mykonos 3. The Head And The Heart - Another story 4. The Avett Brothers - Bella Donna 5. John Prime - Hello in there 6. Shovel And Rope - Birmingham 7. Drive By Truckers - What it means 8. Blind Pilot - The story I heard 9. Suzanne Vega - Marlene on the wall 10. Michael Kiwanuka - Cold little heart
1. Fleet Foxes - every song they play, but I guess I'll go with "The Shine / An Argument" for now 2. Grandma's Hands Band - "Harlem" 3. Angel Olsen - "Sister" 4. Jim James - "Golden" 5. Alone & Together - "Oh Sweet Nuthin'" 6. Hurray for the Riff Raff - "Pa'lante" 7. John Prine - "Hello in There" 8. Dr. Dog - "Hang On" 9. Drive-By Truckers - "Ever South" 10. Big Thief - "Paul"
It's easily the weakest lineup in the Jay Sweet era. I've been to the last 7. Word is they lost a big sponsor (or 2) this year and JS was out big $$$. Probably turned M Ward into John Paul White. Sucks because this has been a great year for music so far. I always say the festival is gravy. It's not why my group from Charleston keeps going back.
Thrilled about Friday, and cannot attend Sunday. But was unable to purchase Saturday tix...and still 108 in line. Looks like a dead end. But while dedicated to NFF, I'm also not a blind follower of any politician, product, or festival. Look, at a certain price, and competition with other shows, not everyone is a "good add," although someday am sure I will say," I remember seeing Jalen N' before he was a star."
So I'm thinking, with just a few acts left to name, and facing ridiculous Stub Hub prices, are there hidden, unannounced gems like Kris Kristofferson last year? Maybe that was Chuck Berry. Things happen.
Maybe the Berklee Gospel choir just wouldn't give them a discount this year?

Tickets will be easy as the fest gets closer. They always are. I promise
