Another "to be honest" thought, I would prefer not to have the mass cohort of DMB fans at newport. Doesn't feel like an appropriate place for that.
Considering tickets sell out before a lineup comes out, I am not terribly worried of an influx of DMB fans. Especially of Dave and Tim play Hartford, Jones Beach, or Saratoga.

Yes, but that doesn't stop people from buying resale. Remember the large group of waters fans who camped out in front of the fort stage for the whole day when he played, and stood there with their arms crossing and hardly clapped, yet alone appeared to appreciate the 4 artists on before him? Not saying it diminished my experience, but it was quite noticeable and very different than anything I'd seen at newport before
If not this year it'll definitely happen some year as long as they stay together. Dawes and Deer Tick are like local/favorite bands for Newport Folk by now. Even when those acts aren't on the lineup you can expect someone from the band showing up somewhere.

When we were rail for Alabama shakes last year, I can't believe how many bros were screaming for Dawes, including the guy who spilled a completely full water bottle filled with wine all over me. BRO DAWES BRO I LOVE YOU GRIFF I LOVE YOU BETTS nonstop.

So if anyone still wants to submit a bingo card, I'll accept late submissions UNTIL the first act is announced. So far I've just got cards from the four who submitted them last year. I want some fresh blood!

Good. I might make some edits.
Go ahead. If more artists get "confirmed" before the announcements start, they'll be out of the running if you're going to resubmit though. But if you're keeping it how you have it, you'd be safe.
That's worded weirdly... did that make sense? hahaha

You have a different memory of that day than I do. While there were lots of people that camped all day on the rail (myself included) every one I was around was having a great time all day. I don't even remember any specific big Waters fans that came just because he was announced. Most of the people I talked to were either MMJ fans or big Dylan fans that came for the Sunday set.

A woman near me came from France. She claimed she goes to every Roger Waters show, no matter where it is. There was another group of about 10 there from England who came just for Waters.

Well clearly you were on the wrong side of the stage
With the dates Fleet Foxes have announced in Spain early and mid July do you think it's more likely they start the spring/summer in the U.S. and then stay in Europe starting in July? Also, what about The Shins? I don't think they have been mentioned in here yet.
Unfortunately yes for Fleet Foxes. But I'm holding out hope they'll be back in time for Newport. I'd rather see them there than Bonnaroo or Boston Calling.
The Shins don't seem totally up Newport's alley bug I guess it could happen.

I was directly in front of Jimmy on the rail and I was pretty sure I was having a blast all day, incl TMOE.
Robin Pecknold says Fleet Foxes plans don't have them in the US until August. Hoping that with Newport's late dates this year, they could make it their first US stop. July 30th is basically August 1st, right? Could potentially see them doing Panorama as well.
Not sure whether there is a "lost in translation" here. The website says acts will be announced in the beginning of July. Yet folks here write about when the first acts are named, as in prior years. Confused.
Also, only have Fri tx this year. Anyone know whether there will be a resale forum like last year, or is going to be the cobwebs of Stub Hub?

Believe me...because I showed it to a co-worker last week. Now I see that note came down. Almost like it was a two-day tease.
