Who do you enjoy more? Lorde's new album currently receiving stellar reviews, maybe worth checking out to aid your decision.
I'd put Lorde above Muse's most recent, but their older albums were a big part of my burgeoning middle school taste, plus I've heard they're a pretty solid live act. However, Melodrama is pretty good, went over great with my crew and they'll all be at Lorde.
It might be a game time decision; I was just hoping to solicit opinions from those who may have seen them before and have opinions
@jonesjupiter will tell you Muse is the bees knees
Muse is one of the greatest live modern rock bands, imo. Their last few albums have fallen short, but they still bring it live - especially at festival sets. I think one would know what to expect from a Lorde show. Muse normally exceeds expectations. If you're worried about them playing heavy on new material, it often translates better live. I was way low on the new stuff and was pleasantly surprised. They normally jam a bit in between songs or extend some. Bellamy is a fantastic musician, but their rythym section is just as talented.
I'm not sure where you live, but Lorde has already announced another Chicagoland date, while Muse has not. Additionally, seeing Lorde at a later date will be much cheaper than seeing Muse.
Make sure you always catch the sets you want to see at festivals, you can always meet up with your friends later.

That's a good point; I'm from Indianapolis but Lorde probably would be easier to see at a later date regardless

Yeah, window is closing somewhat on Muse. Lorde ain't going anywhere.

Muse's output also keeps getting worse, so if you see them now you are at least assured of some good older tracks (which may not be staples in the future, in the same manner that New Born and Stockholm Syndrome aren't played regularly anymore).

That moment when they rip into Plugin Baby forgives all.
I was going to see Porter since the only other member of my group who was interested in seeing Lorde will be stuck out of Chicago for his job until Friday afternoon and I didn't want to see her alone, but now I think I'm just gonna say fuck it and see her alone after Kaytranada anyway.

Every time I look at the schedule I get annoyed all over again. On paper this is a very decent lineup, but everything I'm interested conflicts. They actually booked 4 headliners I like and I'll get to see two of them and go home early one or both of the other nights. I just pulled up the schedule to make sure Kaytranada was on my list, but nope, during Spoon. Even the stuff I don't really care about but wanted to check out for a bit in a festival setting because why not (Migos, Mac Demarco) conflicts with the few acts I really want to see

Those unannounced Metro aftershows might allow you to see another one of the headliners you're interested in.

Eww, yeah. That Killers or Blink option is pretty bad. Lolla pulled a Firefly on that one.
The truly mystifying part of it is I imagine the sort of person who'd be interested in seeing The Killers in 2017 is the same kind of person who'd want to see Blink-182 in 2017. So it pretty much sucks for everyone

Indeed. I like the way the opposing headliners are likely to work out at ACL. Should be an act I really want to see against ones I care nothing about each day.
Meh, I've still never seen the Killers and I've seen Blink plenty. "Jenny Was a Friend of Mine" is still a banger and I would like to see it performed live.
