Yesterday the crowd was pretty bad. I left Alt-J because it was so miserable. People lining up for chance were pushing and shoving trying to get a spot early. It was so loud with everyone talking who didn't care about them we couldn't even hear the music. Walking out of the crowd the show was way more enjoyable from afar. I'm was a pretty similar experience for Vance Joy.
Thursday and Friday I had no issues until the killers. A lot of people shoving their way trying to pull people off the rail. I've never had people so aggressively trying to take people's spot. A dude actually tried to punch the girl in front of my group for the rail. All the guys around immediately tackled him, security had to chase the guy down to kick him out.
I think the mild weather has just made the crowd more drunk than usual. I've seen a lot of kids who are completely trashed early in the day. Yesterday entering the festival around 1 a group of girls were wasted drinking outside the gates and the cops gave them tickets. The girls were just about losing their minds, they couldn't understand why they were issued tickets. It was pretty amusing to watch.
The funniest part of this post is the fact that people still exist who want to be on the rail for the The Killers.

Lol at Barns Courtney playing his broken foot or ankle up with the gurney, nurse and gown. Looking at watching Lil Uzi Vert, Wax Motif, Sylvan Esso, Shins, Big Sean, Arcade Fire and Justice.

I'm just considering American festivals. If it were worldwide it'd have to be something like Glasto, Primavera, Coachella and.. idk.. Maybe Fuji Rock or something. That lineup was tight this year.

Sampha was awesome! The crowd camping around me for Rae Sremmurd who talked the whole set... less so. Unless they pull off an incredible lineup, this is probably my first, last, and only Lolla largely because of crowd issues discussed above
I hadn't heard much about him before the set, but Duckwrth early in the day really rubbed me the right way. Anyone here know/like him?

between all the stories from here and r/lollapalooza, i think i can cross this off my list of festivals i want to try for this year. sounds kinda horrendous.

Ha same boat!
Arcade Fire livestream is crushing it.
Edit: With the not so hot reviews of their album, I think they have some gust to re own.
Fuck some opinions unless you or someone you know was directly affected or there is real documented shit. i had a blast on tv and am sure I would have had a blast at lolla. I love Chicago. I also understand where there aren't say age restrictions and there are first timers, shit will get out of hand for some. Good as hell lineup and lots of fun shit to see
Oh man those aren't actually making me not go. I would fucking love to go to Chicago but I'd rather do Pitchfork or something than Lolla. I already support two other C3/LN events. Also, I can barely tolerate ACL due to the volume so adding another >30k.
Regine needs 10x more (isolated) vocals in this band. Electric Blue was astounding. Her slightly nervous yet commanding poise reminding me only Florence Welch has been to demand.

As someone who's been to Lolla and Pitchfork in Chicago and a few of the big fests in the U.S., I think Lolla is just so weak. Production is meh aside from Perry's, but there's usually no artists I'd see there. The lineups have gotten more generic. The crowds are massive and full of inebriated teens and disinterested folk. The actual "experience" is very run-of-the-mill. If I lived in Chicago, I'd go for sure, but mainly to see their crop of good headliners.
Switched to AF after Channel 3 cut off Justice for Zeds Dead, Jesus. At least AF is pretty good.
I'll tell you. I only saw them once which was last October. And I was destroyed. But I remember how good that show was. First real exposure was ACL on PBS a few years back and then random Win/Regina parties here in Nola. But last week's Brooklyn show and this one make me want to backhand myself for not having a ticket to the show in a few weeks. That's about to get remedied.

Good to hear. I've never seen them, but I have a ticket for their Tampa show. Buuuuuut...Broken Social Scene, my favorite band whose new album I love, are playing Atlanta the same night, and my good friend just moved to Atlanta, so I am very tempted to sell my AF ticket and go to the BSS show. We shall seeeeee.
Interesting that they haven't played much of Everything Now for this Lolla set.
Gotta do both. I'm not a big BSS but I'm digging the new single.
I think they've done Everything Now, Signs of Life and fucking Electric Blue.
I assume Creature Comfort comes out towards the ends, then they end with a 15 minute version of Peter Pan and give everyone the finger as they walk off stage.

They're both the same night, so gotta pick. I've seen BSS twice, and really dig AF, so I'm a bit torn. Bah.
Is the stream delayed a bit? They're playing "Afterlife" but it's after the 10 p.m. cut-off if it's live.
