Haven't seen a thread so I decided to start one. How was Forecastle this year? I would like to go back to this depending on the lineup. Shot in the dark: Kings of Leon/ Wilco/ Chance the Rapper/ The Shins

I had fun times. I am not sure if I will be there next year. The ladyfriend has gone with her friends the last several years. During the fest this year, her friends wondered out loud repeatedly that they might want to try a different festival next year and skip Forecastle. The lady said she would have a harder time making the trip if her friends weren't going too, so we may end up trying something else too. Then again, this all hinges on if they are really gonna put it into practice or if they were just talking out their butt.
Are there hotels on the Indiana side of the river that are easily walkable to festival? Any recommendations out of the handful of hotels on that side? Although if Walaka's prediction of KoL at #1 holds up then I might not care as much.
I would say they'd put on a show as good as Avett or Alabama Shakes.
Nope, if you stay at a hotel in Indiana you will 100% have to drive in/out every day.
Thanks for the info. Some of the hotels listed are approx 1 mile from Waterfront Park. I just didn't know if pedestrians had a bridge provided to cross the river there.
You can't crush my dream though Phi. I'm gonna stay in Indy and walk to Forecastle each day.
According to Google Maps there is the Big Four pedestrian bridge, but IDK if it's open during the festival. I'd guess not.
The Big Four connects Jeffersonville and Louisville. As stated previously, it is a pedestrian bridge. It is about 3/4 mile from the east gate for Forecastle. We used it a few yrs back for 2014. I was singing wheelz of steelz on my bike riding back to Indiana side, to the hotel after the show. It was great.
It was perfect. We stayed in one of those hotels you are referring to. 1/2 mile (if that) from Jeffersonville's nightlife along the river. We didn't have to ride along a busy street. Plenty of side streets down there in downtown Jeff.
I could def see Lumineers headlining this. But I'd be surprised if they didn't try to get one big act on the top
I'd say the Lumineers are (like it or not) a strong contender for a headlining spot this year. That's provided that they don't take any time off (they have shows scheduled without any huge break between now and May), and come back to the states for some summer festivals. Them playing Cincinnati in January pretty much rules them out for Bunbury, so maybe Forecastle scooped them up.
Call it wishful thinking, but I think this is the year Petty hits Forecastle. Forecastle will be announcing their lineup next week, and Petty happens to be announcing the dates for his major 2017 tour then as well. Far from a lock, but I've certainly got my fingers crossed.

Tom Petty would be an automatic ticket for me. Missed him at Bonnaroo in 2013 because the group was ready to leave and it started raining. Regretted it a little ever since.
Ideally, I would like:
Tom Petty/Bon Iver/Wilco
If we're gonna go vanilla-ish, give us the best vanilla. (Chance would also be great.)
