From the Q&A Last year, they didn't like doing 2 sets and having a late night set. So they just wanted to one long set as their MJ performance. I think definitely we're in for the same sort of Headliner 8-10 / EDM 11-1 and then Miller 8-10/ Mule...I'm hoping Petty is the Sunday headliner and it would be perfect for MMJ to take that Friday time slot and slay.
MMJ would take this festival from "on my radar" to "STRIKE IMMEDIATELY". It's been a while since they played, so I could definitely see it, especially after how hard they crushed this demographic with their Lockn show. Also fits in with their timeline, which has them recording in April and conceivably hitting the road again in the summer. Fingers crossed...

I am pretty happy with this lineup so far. I know some people are freaked that Mule wasn't on the announcement but its a given they play every year. I love the jam vibe but i really love the direction Mt. Jam has moved towards with the classic rock and indie rock vibe. It makes for a really nice weekend on the mountain.
I'm glad they got Gary Clark after he had to pull out last year. I'm a bit sad they couldn't get the Avett Brothers after having to evacuate early last year before their set. I'll be there for sure since I can't make it to 'Roo this year and I'll take this over Firefly any day.

I'm not that big of a Steve Miller fan, but if we're looking at: Petty, Miller, MMJ, Frampton, Mule as a top five - this pretty much becomes part of Plan B if I don't wind up going to Coachella next year.

I felt the same way about Steve Miller - but I somehow found myself at a Steve Miller show like two years ago and found myself having a fantastic time - singing and dancing and generally just having a really happy time. I also thought I barley knew any songs and every other song I found myself saying "oh this is them" -- But will definitely pull an older crowd I think -- which I am totally fine with.

I'm going to wait on the full lineup. Besides Newport, I don't trust any festivals to book a lineup that I really wanna see. I don't wanna be locked into an $800 weekend.

Is there a shuttle or do you have to walk up there mountain to get to mountain top camping?
When they say "mountain top" it's not really mountain top. It's at the top of the concert mountain which is about, not sure, 1/2 to 1/3 the way up. We've always been in mountaintop car camping so we just drive up there and try to find the most level spot possible, and haven't had much of a problem because they definitely steer you toward the least inclined areas. The reasons why I love it so much are: The proximity (you can hear all the music from your camping spot), The search to get in (Negligible for us, but it can differ for everyone I'm sure). You do have to dedicate yourself to walking up that mountain a few times, which can be a bear, but good if you're watching your steps on fitbit! haha
Agreed with Camden. A lot of the camping is on an incline. So if you can, spring for something that will guarantee you (or mostly guarantee you) flat camping. I have never done mountain top, but it looks great. I have always done VIP which is flat. If you can't do those, I would absolutely recommend getting there as early as possible to snag a flat or semi flat spot.
Walking up the venue to Mountain Top would be a bit rough, but plenty of regular camping will be that far up too, but you won't be in such a cool spot.
Additional advice: It almost always rains. Plan for it (of course, it is a different weekend this year).
Welcome back Bonz, but I do not find it strange that your presence being requested in the Orgy thread and then you showing up, like it was the quacking Bonzai Bat Signal.

Katy Mae what level of probability is it that you'll do this? If I go, I will be looking for a crew since mine isn't going.
The tickets + the camping spot I would want are making this look more expensive than I'd like, so I'm leaning toward no unless the undercard is nutty. I'm realllllly trying to only do Coachella and Newport this year and I keep getting pulled toward camping fests and have to tell myself no.

Newport + Mountain Jam + another small local fest. Screw Coachella
