Badu vs LL is brutal. Blood Orange right into Jay is kind of a bummer, too. I was hoping Dev would be a little earlier in the day so I could try and settle in for a semi-good spot for Jay. Oh well. The conflict nobody saw coming in MIA vs Gorillaz just suuuucks. I was thinking she'd get like a 6PM slot and really didn't see her closing out a stage, especially with Future billed second, but good for her. Tegan and Sara vs Joey is one I kinda thought would happen and now wish it didn't. Tegan and Sara sounded *great* at Lolla and All Amerikkkan Badass is such a great album, especially in these times. That one's unexpectedly tough.
A few thoughts: (1) Didn't think 21 would be up so early (2) Migos vs Sky is pretty smart (3) Ghostface into Nas is gonna be so awesome, too bad it's at the expense of Weezer - never seen em (4) Were there four stages last year?
You're not missing much with Weezer. They totally phoned it in at Boston Calling this year.
Dang! They crushed it at Hangout. I wonder what the difference was.
As a Weezer fanboy (wasn't at Boston Calling), I can say their performances range from phoning-it-in to rocking-TF-out. While I can't speak to Boston Calling specifically, in my experience they respond to the crowd's initial reactions when they take the stage. I'll do my part at Meadows by losing my mind even when they play Beverly Hills/Island in the Sun (BOO!!).

Their crowd won't be enormous due to Nas but gotta think it'll be pretty enthusiastic. Don't know if you'd need to worry about campers up front (do Bassnectar fans camp out? Never experienced them).
Fri: Sky Ferreira > Tegan and Sara > Two Door Cinema Club > Blood Orange > Jay-Z Sat: BadBadNotGood > Big Boi > Erykah Badu > Antibalas > TV on the Radio > Gorillaz Sun: Broken Social Scene > Weezer > Sleigh Bells > RHCP

Bevery Hills is grating but "Island In The Sun" and anything off the green album is good by me. As a "fanboy" I imagine you have the 8-10 b-sides from that era collected which are also excellent tunes. My one "complaint", so to say, is that Weezer's sets now only function as a "greatest hits" and a few off the new album. So many excellent songs (Photograh, Susanne, You Gave Your Love To Me Softly, Slob, Turn Me Round, The World Has Turned And Left Me Here, Pink Triangle) are NEVER going to get played.

The band commented on your last sentiment in a recent interview. While I agree they have some a multitude of GREAT catalog tracks to dig into, they just have so many HITS that they can't figure out what to cut in short festival sets. They play some of the tracks you mentioned on tour stops - hell on the Memories tour they did full Blue/Pinkerton sets as ENCORES. They just appeal to their crowd when planning sets, hard to knock em for that.

Bassnectar fans are notorious for camping the rail. Most of his fans are going to his 3 night run in Hampton, VA over Labor Day Weekend so the diehard turnout should be less than usual.

Yeah, I've seen a few of them live and was at the Blue/Pinkerton shows so I don't have much to complain about. You have a link to that interview?

Yeah it was the same last year with the Pretty Lights die hards. Barely any showed up. A fest like this isn't really their thing.

“On the festival circuit this year there’s not a lot of space to do our personal favourites, so we’re trying to get just an outline of all the hits and singles and try to represent every album a little bit,” he explains over the phone. “So we do our best — but we run out of time fast.”
Also, for anyone needing tickets - looks like 3-day passes will drop below $100 on Vivid soon.
Crazy. Between this and the VIP upgrade it looks like they may be trying to cultivate loyalty for Meadows? Maybe they're worried panorama will switch weekends or something
I spent all day in the park and on the subways offering free tix. Nobody wants them. I think they might have to cancel you guys.
The park and the subway? Plebs don't like music
Everybody I run into just tells me about how these lineups need deeper/more unique undercards. So many of these acts have either toured heavily/or are just irrelevant. Either way the model of relying so heavily on a big name won't work in such a homogenized market.
It probably would have sold better if they just went all in on hip-hop. Throwing in an act like two door cinema club (who have been everywhere since 2011), doesn't do much in terms of recruiting the indie crowd. Gorillaz day will be busy I would imagine though.

It's a solid lineup, but there just aren't that many available acts after Gov. Ball and Panorama. Not to mention, the average person gets in one, maybe two festivals a year and simply doesn't have the funds by the time September rolls around.

This. I would have loved to do this but the timing is just off. I would have to miss class for a couple days for travel. GB and Panorama are in the summer so there is no conflict there. It seems like a great festival and it sucks that I probably won't be able to go to this unless I'm living in NYC. I hope it makes it though. I would like to think there is a chance I live in NYC some day and would love to not have to travel and see every touring act for the year at 3 separate events.

I'd never seen Weezer before, but I thought the BC gig was pretty good actually.

The tix that are going for cheap on vividseats are totally single days that were mislisted by the way (which is why you dont see them going that cheap anywhere else). I am interested to see if Vividseats is going to either eat it and get ppl 3 days or just give out refunds though.
Everfest upgrade is a promo deal to hype their brand. Everfest is paying for every VIP upgrade bought. Take advantage, buy a ton of them. Its making the promoters money, and its a great deal for you.
