It is odd.. last year had good reviews too, no? I don't think prices even got that low last year, did they? (Relatively speaking, since it was 2 days)
These lineups need a deeper/more unique undercards imo. So many of these acts have either toured heavily/or are just irrelevant. Either way the model of relying so heavily on a big name won't work in such a homogenized market.
It probably would have sold better if they just went all in on hip-hop. Throwing in an act like two door cinema club (who have been everywhere since 2011), doesn't do much in terms of recruiting the indie crowd. Gorillaz day will be busy I would imagine though.
Probably in the minority but the indie you reference is a big reason I bought a 3 Day Pass right away.
TDCC, Milky, Sky, Circa Waves, TVontheRadio, BSS, Foster, Weezer. That's a lot of good stuff to fill the days before some huge headlining shows.
And i decided to not do the $50 VIP upgrade because I think most of those indie shows will be empty lol.

I'm pretty much guaranteed not to bump into you that weekend
i'm actually not sure if i'm goign to go friday... with the exception of RTJ, Blood orange and Tegan and Sara, i can't think of one person i want to see. saturday should be packed for me, swet shop boys, BBNG, De la soul, MIA, Erykah and Gorillaz. sunday again i'm not sure how long i'll be there... maybe wild belle, sleigh bells, st paul, BSS... i'd stay for RHCP if there was enough leading up to it i wanted to see. there's so much blah . my friend reps bassnectar, maybe i'll swing by that for a change of pace and see what kind of crowd shows up. such a strange lineup when you really look at it. where was this crazy discount for Panorama or even gov ball?

Friday: Big Wild/Lizzo > Marian Hill > Sky Ferreira > Joey Bada$$ > Run The Jewels/TDCC > Blood Orange > Jay Z
Saturday: Public Access TV > Swet Shop Boys > Badbadnotgood/Flatbush Zombies > Big Boi > Erykah Badu > Antibalas > Future > TV On The Radio > Gorillaz
Sunday: Arkells > Fantastic Negrito > Wild Belle > CRX > St Paul & The Broken Bones > Foster The People > Broken Social Scene > Nas > Sleigh Bells > Bassnectar/RHCP
Oof, this is brutal. Erykah Badu vs. LL, Antibalas vs. De La Soul, and MIA vs. Gorillaz are all pretty soul-crushing, for me.
You can always catch half of each sir! I dunno if you were there last year; but this is probably the easiest fest to split sets I have ever been to. The stages are so close together.
Edit: MIA vs Gorillaz def does suck though. Only because I wanted to see MIA, but no way in hell am I leaving Gorillaz.
How hard do you guys think it'll be to get a decent spot for the Chili Peppers if I want to check out Sleigh Bells? Will Lido, people getting in position and Sleigh Bells deter enough folks so if I cut out of Sleigh Bells 5-10 min early the main stage won't be TOO crowded?

Same here. That one is far and away the cruelest cut.
Good point on splitting sets. I'll probably at least end up doing that for Antibalas and De La - I've seen the former a bunch over the years, and caught part of De La at GovBall last year, so I can live with halfsies.
Nas vs. Weezer is another tough one. Nas is a legend, but I also haven't seen Weezer play since the original blue album tour when I saw them open for Live in 1994.

Jesus Christ, I'm old.
Weezer vs Nas is kind of a bummer.. But I have seen Weezer plenty (I am sure you have too) and Nas performing literally just a couple of miles away from where he grew up? Thats gonna be special.

We def need to meet up at this by the way.
Yeah, man! Warning: I'm not half as interesting in person as I am on the Internet.
So, here's how it's shaping up for me - only going Saturday and Sunday:
SATURDAY Dams of the West > Public Access T.V. > Jacob Banks > Flatbush Zombies > Big Boi > Erykah Badu/LL (game time decision or split set) > Antibalas/De La Soul (split set) > TV on the Radio > Gorillaz
SUNDAY Arkells > Fantastic Negrito > Wild Belle > CRX > Broods > Foster the People > Broken Social Scene > Nas > Sleigh Bells > RHCP

Schedule is great but I think it's going to push me to do the VIP Everfest thing. I want to see all of Blood Orange, TV on the Radio, RHCP but also want to get good spots for the HL'ers.
Can someone who was in VIP last year fill me in on how it was? Was it totally Side Stage or do they give you a good view of the stage?

except if you have to walk all the way around the "donut" to get from one to the other. and climb the stair pyramid. depending on the act it can be a bit of a nightmare. i didtn' go to kayne last year, but my friends said tryign to climb the stairs from the citifield side was crazy

i didn't go vip last year, but it sounds like they may be changing some stuff up this year. there were 21+ lounges at the back of 2 of the stages, i'm wondering if they're turning them VIP and moving them up now

Yeah I walked those stairs once and then said never again. Go around the opposite side. It barely takes 5 min from one end to the other.

When you say back, how far back are we talking and are these also center dead-on view spots?

Damn that MIA and Gorillaz clash is rough. An easy choice, but still a bummer. Kind of just leaning towards doing Saturday only with Friday a very strong maybe. Itd be sad missing BSS, but since they conflict with Ghostface there's isn't anything other than Nas who I've seen before.
Friday: Lizzo > Sky > Joey > RTJ > Blood Orange > Jay Saturday: Swet Shop Boys > BBNG > Erykah > De La Soul > Future > TV on the Radio or camp for Gorillaz
Feel like the Gorillaz crowd is gonna be massive now

these were't VIP areas, just 21+ areas. the VIP area SHOULD be different. these lounges were ALL the way in the back. i dont' know if the VIP area is going to have the lounge included like Gov ball and panorama. if they do, they'll probably be on the right side of the stage at the front.
Each one is unique you have to sign up with Everfest and pay the fee to get it.
Just did it. Will both passes I purchased be upgraded, or just mine? Confusing website over there.
Did you buy the companion pass? If so you should have got an email with a code for your companion to use on the everfest site. Then they claim the meadows offer for themselves.
