That's going to be a quacking Zoo day. But I'm not missing that.
Surely on Saturday too. That would be very rough, dunno if I could subject myself to that. Camping out all day at Acura is something I've never done, but which would prob be required.
Would def try to park my ass in front of the relay speakers.
Looks like Steve Winwood is possible for a Thursday or Sunday show

Yeah. Probably either the first or second Saturday or the First Sunday. That's a day I'd hope for massive amounts of rain ala Neil Young last year so that half the people chicken out. This is probably one of the last chances I'll get to see him, and he's got to get crossed off the list since I never saw Lennon or Harrison, and I'm unlikely to ever catch Ringo except at a superjam or something.
May 5 & 6 at The Joy Reserved Balcony Seating & 2 night passes go on sale to the general public Friday at 11am. Presale Thursday 11am ALMOSTDEAD
Both of the last 2 runs sold out. Might be a chance to make a few bucks on this.
Also thanks to elav8 for the head's up on The Motet on Friday 4/29 late night show (probably a 2am set). That could be cool. Lots of jam announcements early this year with the moe. run, JRAD, Motet, etc.
so you cant just get a ticket for one night of JRAD?
I'm not sure. I love them, and I know it will be one of the best shows in town either night. But there's going to be a minimum of 50+ options each night (plus other random bar shit) which makes it hard to commit this early. I'm going to look on the website tomorrow and buy whatever they have available in case I end up going to either or both nights. The Joy is on the corner of Canal Street and Elk Place, so about a 10 minute streetcar ride from where you guys were planning on staying. There should be tons of people looking for one or the other days if you end up having to buy 2 and only want to go to 1 of the sets.

DSO @ Joy 4/27&28
I haven't seen them yet. Those dates already conflict with 2 of the 3 nights of moe which I would kind of like to catch all 3 of the moe. shows if possible. But with JRAD and Voodoo tickets on sale this week, I'm not sure how much cash I'm going to have in hand particularly with Day for Night in 10 days and then Christmas in like 19. I need some more f'n money.

You have no idea how that statements hits home. All money is on lock and there is no Christmas at my house. I am buying the family a fucking house.

Moe dso sandwich....dso are the pros...they've actually played more shows than GD did which is pretty crazy.

As long as it isn't like a 2-day wristband situation I'll probably buy a few for my crew and see what happens. We actually ended up in the warehouse district just off st. Charles so even better for the Joy
Got one 2-day pass for JRAD floor for like $103 and change. There were several options but it took 2 hours to get through with the artist Facebook presale code. I just kept refreshing. Not sure what all the options were but there looked to possibly be a single day pass option above the 2 day.
There will be rumors from now till the drop but it varies by year. The lineup will come out in mid January most likely.
Just go ahead and come down, you won't regret it. Doesn't really matter who's playing there's so much going on you can't do 1/10th of everything happening.

100x this! We always got shit going down and it is always a good time. Oh and SOOO much late night music will be going on its crazy.

I already have a place booked, just waiting to figure out how I'm gonna get down there. Really looking forward to the late night shows. Getting excited to see what else is in the fold.
Petty just announced his tour dates, and as speculated in my original post, seems like he's a lock for JazzFest. In order of likelihood, he'll either play April 28, April 30 or May 4th.

Haha. There will be more jam yet to come. And superstars, collaborations, super jams, funk, rock, etc. Drink lots of coffee between rounds of booze. \m/

Midnight North is Graham Lesh's band, Phil's son.
Usually a lot of Dead and CSN&Y mixed with some originals. Decent stuff.
Thanks and fixed. I just trolled the jazz fest board to see what they had:
Fiya Fest is Wed May 3 Kermit Ruffins recording a live CD 5/1, 5/2 and 5/3 at Mother-In-Law Lounge Nathaniel Ratliffe & NS, JJ Grey & Mofro & New Breed w/Big Chief Monk Boudreaux Sugar Mill(!) Friday 4/28
Other than that, people are just speculating on JBT (which would be great to see them again), Collins, Beyonce, Trey Band (I'll be there that day) and other kinda big stuff. But with Neil Diamond, Stevie Knicks (heh), Sting, Billy Joel, et al playing shows in the spring already, a lot of them will be out. I'd personally like to see Trey Band and U2 on the lineup for Acura. Chance on Congo would work which is odd because he is one of the few young performers who could be a hl at Jazz Fest, Buku or Voodoo now. Good for him.
