Haha I like both. Neither are my favorite band or anything. I can see why people don't like Twiddle. I have only seen them like three times at fests and enjoyed myselr.
I remember Longinus calling them out hard a while back. I've seen a few sets, and they don't usually bother me. I think the bass player is solid, but like I said 100 times I hate Jamflowman. Damn that song annoys me.

Yeah, I'm neutral trending negative on twiddle, but what I know of Vulfpeck I enjoy.
...just randomly checked one of my favorite bands that hasn't been active in a good while...looks like they were recording in New Orleans this summer and working with Prez Hall and others...chuck treece is the new drummer...there's a few good pics on there.

Medeski is always in town playing with random people on keys. But MM&W (with Scofield) was at an elite musical level of all the acts I saw at Bonnaroo 2015.

Joe Russo's Almost Dead shows have moved door back to 9 and show to 10. They have also added a 3rd show due to popular demand. Tix on sale Thursday @ 11am at www.thejoytheater.com

They made such a big deal this year about how they won't be touring much going forward. Apparently that just means we will play every fest possible.
Well, so far there's only dates stretching from 4/21-5/4...now, if they tour from 420 through the traditional red rocks run(end of june), then yeah, it will appear not much changed.

?...it's not new. I think this will be at least their 10th jazz fest and New Orleans is probably right behind Atlanta and Denver on their most played cities.

I knew they played in 2015 and had like two sets or something (4 hours), but I just don't remember any of the other times. I am not a fan so I must have just ignored them and had other bands I wanted to see, or just didn't go on the day they played. All are highly likely. I need to pay better attention.
I love the fuck out of some Trey Band. I know it isn't the most pioneering work, but I thought the septet(?) version last 3 times I saw them was great. Of everything announced so far, that's what I want to see most (at the fest itself).
My friend "GS" said rumor is Phish is taking up residence in NY this summer and if so, he will bring his wife and little babies to NYC for 2 weeks in the summer. He's been a Phish head since the late 80s and probably has seen them 50-100 times or more. I'm not sure what he means by taking up residency but I assume it means they will do a fuckload of shows there.

there have been two rumors floating around:
1. fish has to have surgery, so no shows between mexico in january and dicks over labor day
2. phish is doing a residency at MSG this summer
i trust the people saying the MSG thing is bullshit and there will be no phish shows this summer until dicks at the earliest. and this seems to be confirmed by the festival shows trey and mike bands have booked through june. its a bummer but it means the dicks shows are gunna be crazy town. not sure how they can top sunday at dicks last year but they always manage to surprise me.
I ran into Borahm Lee at Pretty Lights last night. He told me that Break Science would be back in town for Jazz Fest. He and Deitch are usually part of 5 or 6 different projects and super jams, so I'm glad they are coming back. The PL show night 1 had some pretty cool visuals. It featured a screen of dripping water between the audience and stage that they focused laser and gel lights on and through. That was fucking wild.

Yeah. But you will have to watch it all the time unless you fill up your can't miss stuff early. There will be shows announced all the way through April. JF Grids are activated. Only show I don't think I knew about was The Motet 2am show first Sunday. I'll probably have to work Monday am, so that might be out.
Is it possible that Sir Paul McCartney could be playing? He has 3 days in Japan April 27,29,30. I don't see him flying from Japan all the way NOLA just for a day. But who knows it's a possibility.

Somebody was talking McCartney rumors a little while ago, can't recall who.
Remember jazzfest is two weekends with different artists each weekend, so second weekend is still a possibility.
