3 days in Red Hat this year. The website has three day passes but the festival is 4 days on the poster? Not sure if the three days is a typo or not
Strange. It's showing as 4 days on my mobile (I'm also on the "reminder" page). I'm sure it's a bug or something. Be odd to advertise as 4 days but only sell 3 day passes.
I'm leaning no but am not going to be surprised if they don't do them or reduce the number of shows.
Of the six names they listed as being on the "main stage", I'm thinking
Night 1: Future Islands/Solange Night 2: Big Boi/RtJ Night 3: Margo Price/Angel Olsen
Both BJM and Afghan Whigs I could see as Plaza shows. If they are bulking up the amphitheater, they have to be cutting at least one night of City Plaza. Maybe?
E: just noticed this from the ticket page
Each of these passes allows entry into all festival clubs, three City Plaza headlining shows, and three Red Hat Amphitheater headlining shows.
Now that the dust has settled a bit, I can see where there is weird. I guess I was bummed that I've seen most of it this year already. I'm also not stoked on the metal. That's not saying it's not good, it's just a been there/done that thing, too. I will be at King Woman though and I will be loving it. If I have gaps in my schedule (which I never have) I'll be at Thou and Pallbearer.
What sets this apart for me is the fair amount of @sangrealification of it. Tons "indie" singer-songwriters. Snail Mail, Ó, Aldous Harding, ect ect. I'm such a sucker for that sound.
This lineup is through and through solid. It's no FYF but a great way to spend 4 days in September.
If you haven't gone before, take the plunge. It's one of the better city festivals I've attended. You won't walk more than 15 minutes to a venue and unless it's something huge, you won't get shut out.
If you find me during Afghan Whigs, I'll buy you beers and try to convince you they are the greatest band ever.
If you find me during Mount Eerie, I'm gonna pretend I don't know you because I'll be too emotional to talk.

Well, I don't know any of those that you named after you tagged me. I guess I need to start listening. I always want to go to this but it's our anniversary weekend and I've never been able to convince my wife.

I realize every marriage is different and would never try to tell someone to just skip an anniversary to go to a music festival. When Moog/MOEMS was going down what I found worked with Mrs. GL was to alternate anniversaries. It was a great way to celebrate each other without fully giving up on things the other wanted to do. Fortunately for me they cancelled it before I couldn't go.
You're on your own for Clemson football though. You just gotta hope they get so bad you never wanna see another game.

I pick out 90% of the things we do. So I think letting her have the anniversary and her b day (which is also in Sep.) is the smart thing to do.
As far as Clemson games go. I still went to games when we weren't good. I think we're playing Auburn this weekend.
Considering you've found the need to respond to my threads as if you are threatened by me I offer you some peace my confused counterpart. May you find peace in your restless soul.

If I counted correctly, last year's lineup at 123 acts on it. This announcement had 106. So if they have kept all of the venues and have expanded the Amphitheater shows that would leave about 20 acts yet to be announced? The poster does say "More To Be Announced". Maybe there are some plaza shows they are holding off on and will announce in the future?
It's really for the best, honestly. This isn't something thing that's gonna go away quickly and they might be better off to distance themselves from it till it's all sorted out.
BLED fest dropped them today, too. Plus, the tour openers cancelled. I'm guessing this is pretty much the end of the road for PWR BTTM.
I am happy this is moving to 4 days. I've skimmed through about 2/3 of the lineup so far and there is already about 25-30 acts I'm interested in seeing, or my friend that I go with will probably want to see. Going to have quite a few conflicts.
Really liking this more and more as I dig into it. Interested to see what additions are made. Also curious as to how everything pans out now that it's 4 days. Maybe they open up the schedule a bit as it was bumper to bumper before.

I've always liked Cloud Nothings. Not so much of a fan of the last record but decided to give those songs another chance. Last nights show was incredible. They were spot on and sounded as good (if not better) than they have in a long long time. What I'm trying to say is: move them up a space or two on the 'must see' list.
Y'all, I'm seriously concerned for my liver with the addition of another day.
Big Thief just announced a show in Richmond opening for Lucy Dacus during Hopscotch. I'm gonna start crossing whatever appendages that need to be crossed for Lucy Dacus to be an addition. Because boo to that shiz to her playing here while I'm gone.
