Bit the bullet and ended up grabbing a couple of weekend passes and camping for $300 CAD. Even with the abysmal Saturday night, it was just too cheap to pass up.
Also, by registering our wristbands early. we're apparently entered to win tickets to Wayhome 2018
Wow...3 day passes are down to $74 USD on Stubhub right now. There has to be more to their struggles this year than we know. ID is an absolutely horrendous headliner...but $74 for Frank Ocean, Solange, Justice, The Shins, Porter Robinson, Flume etc is just crazy.
Yep. If things go to plan I'll be seeing:
Fri Andy Shauf> Phantogram> Cage> The Shins> Flume> Justice> Danny Brown Sat DFA> Royal Blood> Schoolboy Q> Louis the Child> Solange/Pup> Mura Masa Sun Rag n Bone> Jagwar Ma> MuteMath> Banks> Charles Bradley> Porter Robinson> Frank Ocean
The abbreviated sets and Saturday night are annoying, but I could do a lot worse for $150 CAD
So whats the crowds like at this thing? Their social media seems to be panning pretty tightly on the crowds. Weather looks amazing though.
Saw Phantogram with like 1,000 people at the main stage yesterday, it was awkward but pretty fun really. Flume had the biggest crowd of the night and even that barely made it to the soundboard.
Showed up 10 mins before Justice and got rail, easily best set of the night, they were fantastic and the crowd was really into it. At most 5-6k people at that show.
Overall the fest has been surprisingly good. The grounds are great, the food options are alrught, maybe a couple too many poutine places. Production at the stages and everything has been A+ and the small crowd all seem to be pretty engaged.

Small crowds again today. Death from Above and Royal. Mood both had strong sets. The crowd was really into it at Death from Above.
Solange had sound issues first 6-7 songs. She had no drums and ended up doing a couple drum less songs to keep the set moving while they fixed the problem, she also took the stage 1t mins late. Even through the issues she was great and sounded incredible.
Imagine Dragons had the biggest crowd of the weekend so far and even that wasn't huge. They got a surprisingly good response from the crowd. Mura Masa was great on the smaller stage back in the woods. Caught 10 mins of Marshmello before we ended up sneaking into the secret MSTRKRFT set in the VIP barn. Overall, veautoful weather so far and small crowds have made the lackluster lineup slightly less of an issue.
Learned Wayhome attendance was 30k today, so not all doom and gloom.
Theres no way it was 30k per day, maybe total for the weekend. The crowd for Frank barely strechted past the soundbooth. Cool set, the small crowd made it really intimate.
Jagwar Ma had less than 100 people at their set for the first 3 songs, it was crazy how underattended shows were.

If I had to guess, I'd say attendance was probably tripled on Sunday compared to Friday-Saturday. A lot of the Sunday people seemed to come exclusively for the Blonded pop-up shop, though. They were quite literally burning in the sun for hours, for the opportunity to buy a $65 tee... I don't get it.
Anyway, here's my hot takes:
Absolutely perfect weather, all weekend long
Small attendance the majority of the weekend. I'm bad with estimates but I'd guess Friday-Saturday there were fewer than 10k. Was very easy get up close for anything.
If the noise bylaw was in effect, I didn't notice during any of the later sets. (Save Oro must've LOVED Marshmello.) Speaking of...
The 1st half of Marshmello's set was way, WAY more fun than I thought he was even capable of. Second half descended into more of the candy rave stuff we were expecting, so we left around then
Imagine Dragons had the biggest crowd I saw all weekend, but we left before Frank. I'd like to think this is by virtue of being unopposed, but I saw a lot of happy faces, even though they were the giant meh I was expecting. Maybe I'm out of touch?
Food options were awesome based on what we had. It was easy to avoid poutine if you didn't want it.
Not nearly as much art as the 1st year. Flags still looked great, though.
Based on totems, Rick and Morty is extremely popular. This pleases me
Top Sets (in no particular order):
Andy Shauf
Justice
Muramasa
DFA
Phantogram
Jagwar Ma
Overall if this is the last Wayhome, I'm gonna miss it. Not sure how much of that has to do with the fact that it's brutality under-attended (which makes everything more enjoyable) but I do hope that somehow, it survives. Maybe if they dropped it to 2 days? Pain in the ass to setup camp for 1 night, but I'm guessing the 3-day commitment is what keeps a lot of the Toronto folk from coming up.

You didn't go, so I'll take the word of a talent buyer over your's.

Piss off.
Btw, biggest issue of the fest was yhe 24hr area in the campground, or lack thereof. It was a Pizza Pizza, and poutine truck, water refill, and a VERY small general store. After the venue closed for the night there was absolutely nothing to do or really any place to eat.

Very disappointing to hear about this years failure, I live about an hour or so from the venue, and in terms of advertisements local tv or radio , there was none . Also read that no email or post was put out saying " see you next year . Will be surprised if it returns, had a friend who was a vendor at this years festival & he told me sales were horrible. That is what happens when you put an absolute crap lineup
Im bummed since its only 4 hours away from me and I really digged the layout and camping. 2015 was incredible! Neil rocked for 3+ hours and Kendrick brought it.
