This fest is priced at like 230 USD after fees before camping and the lineup clearly shows its equivalent to a small town fest. I've been the last two years and it's been awesome but I also know they lost a ton of money. Selling tickets in CAD and booking artists in USD is so tough on Canadian fests right now. Will wait for Pemby, Osh and Field Trip to come out but this lineup is really just where the fest is priced, in the low tier range.
Apil 25th: The Sheepdogs
May 15th: Flying Lotus
June 11th: The Postal Service
June 13-16th: Roo
August 3rd: Grove Music Festival (Phoenix, Hot Chip, Girl Talk)

Have gone the past two years and wasn't planning on going this year unless the lineup was stellar. Made the decision easy. Planning on going to Lolla instead. I honestly could see WayHome getting cancelled if ticket sales are really poor. That or they have a really bad year and then Live Nation buys them up for pennies on the dollar.
2017 Shows Sam Roberts Band, Wilco, Local Natives, Ryan Adams(!), Chance the Rapper, Future Islands, Frightened Rabbit, TOOL, Field Trip Music Festival, Gary Clark Jr., Arkells w/July Talk, Gorillaz, Tom Petty, Metallica, Muse, Incubus, Lollapalooza (!!!),Kings of Leon, Deep Purple & Alice Cooper, Father John Misty, War on Drugs
So honestly, where does WayHome go from here? I've been around for enough lineup announcements to know there are always haters, but this seems to be almost universally despised. Even Roo had some defenders, not to mention 15 years of (mostly) goodwill and history. If you're part of the WayHome team, this has gotta phase you -- doesn't it?! What do you do?!

I'm very interested to see if they respond to the hate at all. Some sort of contact with their fan base would go a long way I think. The mood at Republic Live & Fource cannot be good right now.

Roos lineup is meh to all of us but will sell perfectly fine with that top 5. This wayhome lineup is all over the place and there isnt a single key selling point. They are in big trouble and i can totally see them getting bought after this.

With the exception of hundred waters, all of the bands I want to see are playing in my home town festival the same weekend, plus a whole bunch of acts I like more. I think panorama may have destroyed them.
Also, it looks like they may have gotten rid of the wayaway stage, which was one of the coolest things about wayhome. Either that or they're just going to have 20 less bands play the same amount of stages

They know. They're not idiots. Financial issues are clearly killing Wayhome. This wasn't a case like Firefly or Bonnaroo - where the festival decided to cater to more Top 40 and it hurt the quality of the lineup. This is just a much thinner and cheaper lineup.
Imagine Dragons as your #1 doesn't have a strategy behind it. That's throwing your hands up and saying we give up.

I completely agree. I don't know how anyone can fault a promoter whose lost money in a massive market with great lineups in back to back years for scaling down. It seemed like the only choice.

I said the same thing about Loufest 2015 and they sold 5,000 more tickets than the year before

I've waited around and watch dozens of lineups get trashed by a fanbase, normally one or two artists getting the Nickelback treatment. Twenty One Pilots, Imagine Dragons in recent years. That's whatever. But I have never, ever, ever, seen a lineup get so much hate. It's like all of Canada agreed to say, EFF this. I'm a big Wayhome supporter and have bought tickets day 1 of sales every year, and even I'm trying to find a way to get some of my money back to put towards another fest.
What I need for a fest isn't as much as I used to now that I've been around.
2-3 "Big" Acts I Want to see but haven't Or A half dozen acts I've seen and would buy tix to when they roll thru town Or A half dozen mid tier acts I'd like to see but wouldn't necessarily go out of my way to see at a headlining show Or 8-10 smaller acts that don't come thru town often, but I'd check out of given the chance for cheap (or all conveniently in the same place)
I got Justice for my 1 I want to see but haven't
Tegan and Sara for acts I've seen and would pay to see again
Naked and Famous and Flume for Stuff I Haven't seen but would at a fest.
Colony House, Pup, Jagwar Ma, Darcys, Blossoms as smaller acts.
Planning to catch blossoms, flume, naked and famous all at Firefly this year....
Leaving Justice and Tegan and Sara my main draw for this fest and a 4 small acts I can probably catch for $20 or less.
It's tough to justify the price increase. I feel so bad for Wayhome PR this week, but I think they're making a big mistake by not acknowledging fans and loyal Wayhomes that have gone the first two years. Implementing a "Four in the Forest" style of ticket giving loyal customers (not just founders) incentive to go would help.
Bottom line: they cut costs, hope to draw less to make more. It's a business. I get it. But I feel like they've handled the whole situation wrong.

Could have also dropped some warning that they'd all but be ignoring bigger indie rock bands this year. We got the shins and some club bands.
It should say "More to be desired". If this thing somehow actually happens and they add ATCQ I'll buy an 80 dollar pass from the last minute panic fire sale and drive up there.
ATCQ would've really helped out this lineup. I like the additions though. They should help keep the festival alive right? One of the festival organizers did an AMA last night. He sounded pretty positive, for now.
