Fairfield inn by Marriott, reviews aren't anything to write home about but idc. We'll barely be there.
Check the address on that. They only have 2 hotels I know of around the park. One is down the block from jackicker's house about 2 blocks from where we live and 1 is a few blocks further down Canal Street. I could be way off, but I thought the Fairfield was in the CBD. It's still not that bad because it's only 2.5 miles to the park, but UBER will be on extreme surge for an hour or so after the festival ends. Recommendation if you are in the CBD is to just either get the shuttle service, rent bikes from downtown for the weekend or you can catch a streetcar back for $1.25 each way but they will be kind of packed on the way out.
Alternative is there are several bars within a few blocks of City Park you can chill at waiting for surge pricing to go down or y'all can always swing by the crib and drink for an hour or two since 'we are walking distance. It's 11 months away, so there's time to figure that stuff out. But that price isn't that bad.
Metallica seems like a pretty solid guess. Am I in the right ballpark with these? Add in Major Lazer or Kygo as a #4.
Metallica | Kendrick Lamar | LCD Soundsystem
OR
Metallica | Kings of Leon | Frank Ocean
I think the top one is more legit, though Frank is from here so he could play if he doesn't play jazz fest. As you can tell from the 2013, 2014, 2015 and 2016 lineups, there will be good and bad stuff throughout which is expected. There will be some absolutely no f'n way sets and no way I'm not missing that sets. It always goes like that. And it's a smaller lineup than your typical city fest because of the way they have consolidated and platooned the stage sets.
This was C3's first year booking for Live Nation. They went to a Rap/R&B Friday, Rock Saturday and Indie-ish Sunday overall. I'm not sure if they follow that format in the future or not. Also, they always have a headliner EDM set going on at the same time as the headliner set, so if you don't like the headliner, you might get luckier than I did this year for Carnage vs. Weekend, Pole Smokers vs. Arcade Fire and Die Antwoord vs. Tool.
If you look at how the schedule went, they alternate the two smaller stages with the main stage and pointed the EDM stage away from the festival so it doesn't bleed over. So when a main stage performer is playing, the two other stages are off. When the main stage finishes, the other two stages go live. It worked out perfectly for me.
How's the streetcar as a means of transportation? From the map it looks like theres a stop right by city park.
Streetcars are fine for getting there because people stagger times. But getting out at 11 is a zoo. There is the one that turns off of Canal Street and feeds down those few blocks of North Carrolton to City Park Avenue and the other one (Canal Cemeteries) go to the head of Canal Street at City Park Avenue which is about a mile walk or so from the exit. They run all night long, and Parkview Tavern (3 blocks) and Wit's Inn (8 blocks) are open til 3:30/4:00am so if you aren't dead or looking to go out to an after show, you can always post up at either of those spots for an hour or so to let the crowds die down. I understand it's the worst when a Voodoo night falls on Halloween which will not be the case for the next few years. If you plan to be coherent on the way out, and if you are staying in the CBD, Marigny or French Quarter, I'd look into a 3-day bike rental place because you're only about a 15 minute bike ride to the park. That's probably around $100 or so, but it will take any DWI, mass or surge bones out of the equation. You'll be on your own time. But as noted above, they also have shuttles for about $50 which run every 15-20 minutes or so from Hyatt and somewhere else downtown to the festival. That also makes it easy, though the lines are a little bad at first, within 30/45 minutes I think most people are on their way.

Looks like it is in the CBD. I was just going off the proximity listed on Booking.com. It said 1.4 miles to City Park. Either way once we're down there I figure we'll wing it. Again this is even if we go so we'll see.
I was thinking System of a Down or Green Day or even Linkin Park as a big stage rock act because they are all overdue. Obviously I'd prefer Metallica, but they played in 2012 for the first time in that fill in spot for Green Day (which was a God Send for me since I don't really care about Green Day). Prophets of Rage would be #2 on my want list for the Saturday and a Profits of Range into Metallica would be ideal for me. Rolling Stones would rule too, but that's unlikely. U2, Metallica, Juicy J is what I really want, but we're 6 months out from the lineup making it wishful thinking at its worst. Haha.
99$ GA's still available so fuck it i bought one. Worth it if i can make or if i have to sell i can easily get my money back and then some.
They usually leave the early birds up for a couple of weeks because people here are pretty last minute on that and they can get some Christmas cash interest. They'll put them back on sale for like $129 or $159 or whatever around when the lineup comes out. The last week of the fest they sell for $250+fees for 3 days so as long as you're ahead of the curve, you can work that shit.

Uber is just a waiting game unless you have to get somewhere right after the fest ends. Waited an extra 20 minutes in the uber area Sunday night after AF and my trip to Uptown went from $70 to $15.
Those city buses were clutch this year. Hardly any wait cause no one knew about them. $1.50 to get you down to the quarter. Even if thats not where your hotel is, its worth it to pay the $1.50 to not have to wait, get outta that clusterfuck, and then easily call an un-surged Uber once you get downtown.
Yeah, it was great running into you (and the ole lady ?). You seemed pretty stress free and happy. I'm guessing the prime access and maybe a 4 figure win helped? Haha. Hopefully we'll run into you next weekend man.
Glad I grabbed a couple. I haven't ever seen them do that before. Either there was big interest or they squashed the number of early birds they put out there. Maybe some of both? Idk
Anyone have any advice on which part of the city to stay in, or maybe which part of the city to not stay in.
Lakeview, City Park, most of Midcity, Faubourg Marigny, French Quarter, Uptown and Warehouse District are where you want to stay. Metairie is fine too. Easiest would be FQ, CBD or Warehouse.
I grabbed a presale ticket Friday. If for some reason I end up going to Hula, I can offer it up to someone here. They'd have to really fuck up for me to choose hula and use up several vacation days though.
Chainsmokers played this year so they won't be back. It would more likely be Major Lazer if they're going for a big pop closer EDM act (they have an EDM closer every day on that stage).
J. Cole could be in. He generates a lot of hate on Inforoo, but I'm not really sure why. New album is decent from what little I've heard. Kendrick could rap headline as well as he's pretty big here.
I'm not wild about Green Day, but I'd see them. Same goes for Linkin Park. The production would be bigger for Linkin, but it's more likely that Green Day will get a spot because of the rehab issues in 2012. I wouldn't rule out a Nine Inch Nails return either. Set in 2013 was great, and Trent lived here for a pretty long time.
Yeah, NIN or Manson both have a pretty solid following in Nola, right? I wouldn't mind seeing Manson at Voodoo, seems fitting. But where would he bill?
If they played, Marilyn Manson would probably sub-headline Saturday (Jane's Addiction > Ozzy & Friends; Cage > Tool) so likely a 6:30/7 to 7:30/8 set unless they put him on one of the smaller stages at 6 or 8.

I think Reznor lived in New Orleans for a while, can't remember when. But he definitely has some sort of connection to the city.
I've only seen NIN twice, both times at Voodoo, and both shows were on my top five shows list of all time at some point. Reznor really knows what he is doing with a live show. So I'd be thrilled to have them back.
I was a total Antichrist Superstar kid my freshmen year of high school so I'd love to finally see Manson live.
I've never seen Green Day so I'd be fine with them as my throwaway "it'll be fun" headliner of the weekend.
