Well nevermind, tickets were just for Saturday only. I am not going at all again.
Figure that shit out. Rob someone on the street if necessary. It’s probably going to be sunny and 70s all weekend and 60s in the evening. Too far out to know for sure, but it looks like a long stretch of great weather after the rain this Sunday.
If I could get a super cheap Sunday ticket I would go, it has the most music for me to see that I would actually want to see. Saturday I had originally planned on the French Quarter reaper skate and now that Voodoo is out, I am getting my makeup done by a makeup artist and going to go all out for that. I only wanted to go Friday for Prophets of Rage and Saturday for K. Flay. I am sad that I am not going just because I ALWAYS go, but the lineup is just so meh for me this year. There are legit 5 bands that I haven't seen on that whole lineup and only the two mentioned before that I REALLY want to see. It is what it is, I am not going to stress it.
Gotta think that Live nation took a bath with LOA VIP & Platinum VIP this year. I wasn't going until I landed a Platinum for $750 two weeks ago. Weekend LOA VIP wristbands are now as low as $200 on the secondary market. I've seen plenty of weekend GAs selling but no one seems interested in picking up VIPs. VIP sold out last year, and Live Nation could've added $50 to the price and probably have sold out this year as well. Greedy bas***ds.

Hopefully we will run into one another and say what's up. I'll hand I to you that $750 is a great price and value for what you're getting. My plan was to get two and sell one and get my cost down to about $700-750. Since the secondary market is so cheap (I'd get $950-1k back but end up losing money on StubHub Fees as of now on Platinum), my kids are each going to take a day of Platinum with me. If they sell it out next week and force the prices up, I may reconsider since they all have GA anyway.
I got into VIP last year for Sunday when my brother-in-law hooked up the upgrade. But with SVIP, the idea of all I can drink, 2 catered meals, free parking near the entrance (I'm not driving, but someone will bring me since I have free parking) and particularly premium viewing at every stage will rule. I still wish that Sunday was more to my liking, but Friday and Saturday nights are as good as any major festival this year. Brand New is my only real question mark in those runs (LCD Soundsystem > Prophets of Rage > Kendrick Lamar Friday and then Black Angels > Brand New > R.L. Grime > Foo Fighters w/ LCD afterparty on Saturday).

I'm sure we will. I'll be wearing a red & white baseball shirt with last year's line up & a T.Rex t-shirt (I wear this every year). I'm a fan of the Foo Fighters & The Killers, but have no interest in Kendrick and will be leaving early on Friday to see The Struts at the HOB. Figuring I won't need to to see LCD after-party because Platinum should put me right up front on Friday. Also, will be taking streetcar or shuttle so little chance of a swift exit after the Foos. I like a pint (quite a lot), but I have a limited tolerance for booze, so for me, $750 is not an especially great deal. Originally, I told myself I would pay $700-$750 for Platinum so I thought myself priced out when it opened for $1050 and for it now to be $1400 is mind boggling.

Ok getting excited now! We head down on Wednesday gonna do some New Orleans touristy/Halloween stuff on Thursday and hit the fest all three days. We've got some costumes planned as well for each day. Can't wait!
I've been digging Ron Gallo a lot lately will for sure be catching them as well as Chicano Batman. Also Rich Chigga looks like something worth catching because what.
Also we will most likely have an extra 3 day pass. Friend bought it when it was $99 and had to bail. I'm waiting to here back if my cousin in Mobile wants it but she's probably a 50% at this point. If anyone is interested let me know.
We've got some costumes planned as well for each day.
What are you doing costume wise? I've been struggling to come up with anything sardonic or ironic this year. Current events dictate that the obvious shit to lampoon is the alt-Right. But because of my hatred of them and because I don't really feel like playing an alt-Rightist in costume all day, I'm stuck. I still might throw something together for Saturday, but it's most likely going to be something more Halloween based.

We're trying to keep it simple for packing purposes and for wearing all day. We're going clowns one day (It-ish), Three's Company, and a Victims theme for the Killers.
Wonder what are the odds of the Foo Fighters cancelling Voodoo since they've cancelled a few shows both before and after this weekend...?
I don't know. I was thinking about that last night, and I couldn't find any real news on it other than the emergency not being disclosed. Whatever it was, it had to be a fairly big deal for them to cancel 2 shows. I don't really know how you replace them on a lineup at this point with 5 1/2 days until show time. I don't even know who we'd get. It was clear they went after the top rapper and rock group to headline. There really isn't anyone of that caliber that could fill in for the Foo Fighters. I guess Red Hot Chili Peppers could work, and they aren't doing anything at the moment. I don't really need to see them again at this point until they do specific album tours, but I'd be okay with them. Other possibilities would be Green Day. Their next date is 11/1 in Rio which is a S.A. leg of their tour. I don't know if they're flying down there end of the week or how they'd pull that off. Metallica is in Manchester, England on Saturday, so they'd definitely be out. Metallica is the only acceptable replacement, but since that's not going to happen, hopefully Foo Fighters are able to play this weekend.
Voodoo Live Stream acts (at least some of them) are out. They don't have the schedule up as to whether they're actually going to be streamed "live" or presented along the way. They actually have some kickass performers on the stream this year, and I'll be at some of those sets. More information when I find it:
Foo Fighters * The Head and the Heart * Prophets of Rage * Cold War Kids * Superduperkyle Andrew McMahon The Black Angels * Gnash Chicano Batman * Boombox Cartel * Sam Dew Ron Gallo * Durand Jones & The Indications Bleached *
* Sets I'm planning on being at or splitting.
Not sure how they are doing it with the resale market, but "official" prices go up tomorrow. There are some desperate sellers on Stubhub where a Platinum could be had for $800. I'd have waited and bought that all day long if I would have guessed they were going to be available.

Still a bit early to know for sure, but it looks like it's going to be cold as shit this weekend.
As of now, Friday looks like the best day with a high in the upper 70's. It's going to rain a little overnight and then Saturday morning. Saturday looks like a breezy, high of 60 day. That's like the middle of fn winter, and it hasn't gotten cold here yet at all. Sunday looks to be sunny with a high of 64 and a low of 52. Brrr. Pack hoodies.
Voodoo are in an incredibly tight spot if they have to replace a headliner. In 2012, they had almost three weeks notice when Green Day pulled out. And this isn't 2015 Glastonbury with 500 acts booked and where the organizers could simply adjust their schedule and promote another music giant to headliner. Possibilities: Dave Matthews band doesn't have a conflicting date. Guns n Roses are in Ohio on Thursday and Toronto on Sunday. As you say, Green Day is a possibility and RHCP. The fact that neither the band, nor the festival, have made a statement makes me think a Foos appearance is still up in the air, although the fact that their show on Thursday in Birmingham is still scheduled makes me optimistic that their Voodoo appearance will go ahead.

inb4 a northerner pops into this thread and says "that ain't cold i'd wear shorts and t-shirt in that weather!!!"
Yeah I'm going to have to bundle up this weekend for sure. the coldest voodoo I remember is when Soundgarden played several years ago. The real problem wasn't necessarily the temperature but the wind. So long as it isn't too windy this weekend and everyone is suitably dressed it should be pleasant.
I'm debating on buying a day pass for Friday. I have a few friends going that day and the only real acts I really want to see the whole weekend are LCD and Kendrick. I didn't think I was going to do any of the days, though.
My original plan was to do the Studio 3 party on Friday night, LCD Soundsystem's Orpheum show on Sat, and hopefully something with my girlfriend on Sunday like House of Shock. Now, I don't think anyone is going to Studio 3, people are doing parties on Sat, and my girlfriend is a total zombie because of work so who knows if we do anything at all.
With that being said, I guess I can save the money I would've spent on Studio 3 ($20) and LCD Soundsystem (roughly $55) and put towards Voodoo Friday ($83). I mean, why the hell not right?

Agreed. Remember being stage left for that Soundgarden show and shivering the entire time..
Good thing is my Saturday outfit needs a raincoat to complete it and those can be quite toasty

Friendly Vieux reminder: House of Shock Thursday night for my birthday. Yearly tradition continues. It is tons of fun and I love haunted houses so come get scary with me. We are meeting around 7ish. Hit me up if you need more deets.

I was leaning in the direction of doing a Televangelist venerating a dollar sign rather than a cross, but the fucking preacher robes and garments are a fortune. So I went with a black hooded robe and picked up some rap/televangelist bling including a bunch of bling rings, a "$" Chain and some gold, shiny glasses. I will be dressing up on Saturday, so if you see the blinged out hooded motherfucker, that will be me.

Haha. Will do. look out for a yellow raincoat and possibly a red 🎈
So after this blog from Alice Glass, I'd say there's a pretty good chance that Crystal Castles doesn't play this weekend: www.alice-glass.com/cc/
Basically asserts that "Ethan Kath" mentally, physically and sexually abused Alice from the time she was 15 until she left the duo behind a few years ago. Real horrible stuff if true.

This weather forecast has me rethinking my costumes. It's 104 here today so I'm having trouble getting into the 60 and raining mindset, although that sounds amazing.
Question for the locals: our AirBnb is off Esplanade and North Prieur. is the 91 bus a good way to get to the fest? And do the busses stop before the fest ends or do they extend the hours for the fest at all? Should we bus there and uber back?

Good plan there. It's going to be a 5-10.00 ride other than surge. Bus is $1.25. I doubt that one runs past 10, so you will want to cab or Uber.
