Was just talking about this in the lineup discussion thread. The fact that I'm gonna be at that stage for The XX anyway, I'm strongly debating doing it. I don't need to be front row but I do wanna be in the front/center section at least. Plus more than anything I want to be around people who really care about the band and not stuck on the outskirts with ppl who r jus kinda "meh" on them. I know my whole group is gonna wanna go to Glass Animals and I kind of want to as well unfortunately.
Who all is trying for pit / when are you all planning on getting in line?
I'm thinking jump in the pit line during the last few songs of The xx or watch them from the line. Last year I was able to walk of the pit after the pre-HL and get back in line and get pit again for the HL all 3 shows.

Its crazy how many people think the What pit is VIP only or just don't know it even exists.
I got into line for both LCD and Dead & Co during the end of the pre-HL sets, but I figured that that worked largely because of how underattended the whole fest was last year. If I do it, I probably will jump in line at the beginning of the xx.

I'm with it, prefer doing left if for no other reason but the field itself is less crowded/it's easier to see (and breathe) while waiting over there.

I think the right side pit of Which is just the VIP area, or is there another GA area too?
I was specifically talking about What. You are correct.
I didn't understand VIP in relation to the Which pit when we did it. What has that hill and for the bigger shows they have a bar. At Which, I was able to walk in with my VIP for Moon Taxi, Gary Clark Jr and I think Royal Blood. But there was a massive line of people camped out to get in later for the day Bassnectar played. I left out in the late afternoon and the usher/security guy was like are you sure you want to leave, because you probably won't be able to get back in. I still had to eat dinner and probably get 10 trips to the bar between then and whatever time nectar was coming on. But there were hundreds of people just sitting there waiting. I felt like VIP should have had the opportunity to come and go like any real VIP.
Festive Owl reported that U2 will be maximizing the stage at Bonnaroo. Phi is the one I trust most over there, but they are usually on top of shit. So I don't know.

But the left side has that problem with the bees. Best for people to go to the right side.

i got this response from festive owl last night on FB while commenting it was sad their stage won't fit, i added another comment he made to somebody else too.
New to the board but I've been to 11 Bonnaroo's. I've always had the best luck on the left side of the What stage as far as getting into the pit. I would love to meet up with some others that love U2, since a majority of my crew is not.

You have to go behind the vendors on the right side of the Which field, there's a VIP pit with a bar and stuff. It's not a line situation, just a GA area. It can get pretty packed for the bigger shows, but I remember getting pretty close for bassnectar and tame impala without breaking a sweat. The only downside is that it is pretty far to the right side of the stage and it cuts off a lot of the background of the stage (like the giant LED screen for bassnectar).
The pit from the left side of the stage is just a regular GA pit like the What stage.
