Whether it's your first Bonnaroo or you’re a music festival veteran, we welcome you to Inforoo.
Here you'll find info about artists, rumors, camping tips, and the infamous Roo Clues. Have a look around then create an account and join in the fun. See you at Bonnaroo!!
Shakey Knees looks like it would be fun enough, but it almost looks like one of those fests that if it went 11-11, you'd want to go about 5:30 or 6:00 to catch the mid-card and up.
no no no, Shaky is always good down to the bottom. The only really weak spot this year is lines 3-5 (given I've zero interest to see almost all of the bands in that section and that's usually my bread and butter at fests
I like half of 3 and 4 - Moon Tax, Portugal. The Man, Catfish and the Bottlemen
As for the bottom, I don't know that much of it but Con Brio would be cool, The London Souls are good and Fantastic Negrito was pretty high energy last time I saw him.
This year could be the best year ever. Our c'Roo family and experience continues to get better and better. The music, memories and magic on the Farm is like none other. THAT'S WHAT ROO IS!!
I always have the same feeling with him. Although based off everything it wouldn't shock me if true.
I'm choosing to remain optimistic. I do not believe they could book it worse than last year.
That's what I was hoping, since I'm not really a doom and gloom guy. But no, this sucks. I'm disappointed to realize I won't be in TN this June, for the first time since 2009, but I can't drive 10 hours and spend $$$ with that lineup.
I hope y'all have a blast, and maybe I'll see ya in 2018.
It's like you guys forget that U2 has been making shitty corporate pop-rock for at least 15 years now. They'll do just fine with the iHeartRadio EDM crowd.

My best friends that I go to Bonnaroo with aren't feeling this at alllllll. The handful of names I am interested in don't appeal to them either. They're already talking about planning a different, non-music festival vacation for the summer. Feeling super bummed, as with a decent schedule I would have been able to make a fun enough weekend out of this, but I have such a little desire to go without my friends.

I'm in the same boat. If my group isn't into it then it's not worth the trek alone.

its better than last year. a lot more to love all around, but ya the middle section is weak as fuck. also, fuck marshmello.
In what world is this lineup better than last year??
Pearl Jam > RHCP Dead & Company > U2 (If you can even compare the two for older acts...) LCD >>>>>>> Literally everyone on this year's lineup.
I will say for this year Chance > J.Cole and The Weeknd > Ellie Goulding. But the amount of shitty EDM scattered all about the mid card and the lack of diversity make it a no thank you for me this year. Plus my extreme hatred for U2 puts the nail in the coffin. But that's just my personal opinion.

This is much better than 2016, but still... middle of the road. The Firefly comparison is spot on.
I was really expecting to see a return to form after last year, but this was certainly not it. It's funny, I remember in 2015 people were bitching that it wasnt as good as 2014 and 2013 and that it was indicative of a new downward trend and everyone thought that was ridiculous. This fall from grace is even worse than anyone expected.
Hell, people wouldve hated on someone like MGMT taking that spot, but I would take them 100 times over Marshmello.
I think it only wouldve taken a handful of acts to make it a relatively "good" lineup - throw The Avalanches, Franz Ferdinand, Danny Brown, Empire of the Sun, and a throwback like Duran Duran on that lineup and swap out Tove Lo, Marshmallo, + a few others and I'd call it good.

the only acts in that section that I would wanna see are Moon Taxi, Portugal. the Man, Sylvan Esso, and Dr. Dog and I've seen all of those multiple times except for Sylvan. So, the others don't excite me much.
There is a ton of good stuff all through the bottom half of the lineup ranging from good to great (aside from the ones you mentioned): Twin Peaks, Pond, PUPS, Preoccupations, Fruit Bats, Margaret Glaspy, Ron Gallo, Temples, Arkells, Hoops, Cymbals Eat Guitars, Public Access TV, Mondo Cozmo, Flagship, Great Peacock, Amythyst Kiah
Everyone's looking at this the wrong way. This year will be a great opportunity to see undercard acts that will be legendary headliners in a couple years. Not to mention when all these EDM guys start crossing over to real music we can say "yeah I saw him at Bonnaroo 2017 back in his DJ days it was so good!"
My group is really excited and we have a handful of people who have never been. I'm just hoping the atmosphere doesn't change much with the influx of younger people going to all these edm shows. Hope everyone is still super chill and fun to be around, which is one of the main reasons why I fell in love with Bonnaroo. It's definitely the people that make the festival. I'm actually excited about less conflicts because I'll be able to check out some of the other activities that I never have time to see.

you answered your own question
I'm just referencing my unusual hatred for U2. Everything else you should take as fact.

I really don't get the lack of legacy acts this year. U2 will sell a crapton of day parker passes. It seems like it would have made sense to throw 2-3 other classic artists on Friday to entice them even more. Duran Duran>Lorde>U2 on What would be a good book for day parkers. Toss in a late afternoon Brian Wilson set and a LN with someone like ELO, Pet Shop Boys, or Cheap Trick and that day pass looks a lot more attractive to U2 fans on the fence. Even a newer buzz Americana act like Sturgill or Kacey Musgraves would have probably helped. They're still going to sell because Bonnaroo day passes aren't that much more expensive than good seats for a U2 concert, but it seems odd they wouldn't try to lure harder with some relatively cheap bookings.
Little things to take comfort in: "Touch of Grey" will likely be the last song I ever hear performed at Bonnaroo.
Who knows if I'll ever go back, but the last I heard was the Spoon set from my car waiting for some non VIP mf's to hurry up and get to the car. I streamed last year on Red Bull TV (c) and will likely do so again. So I'll hear stuff performed there, I just won't be there.
