This may have already been posted here. Reading this whole thing makes me too depressed so I just skimmed the last few pages. But, for those who are making mock schedules, here's the confirmed Bluegrass Situation Tent on Sunday. River Whyless Mandolin Orange Aaron Lee Tasjan Greensky Bluegrass Superjam
No big surprises with the surprisingly light Americana lineup this year, but it does answer if Margo Price is a Sitch tent act or not. Looks like she probably gets the early What/Which spot they usually give Americana folks. Hopefully not on Sunday. With so little I want to see, I'd hate for her to conflict with one of the BGS acts.
That's the thing. I don't feel that this lineup is far off from being good.
It just feels like there are a few names missing between The xx and Travis Scott.
Throw in any combination of 4 of these artists and you're looking at a solid lineup: The Avalanches, Danny Brown, Franz Ferdinand, MGMT, Alt-J, Nicolas Jaar, ATCQ, Justice, Beach House, Empire of the Sun, Local Natives, Porter Robinson, New Order.
The headliners are more appealing to most than last year's, and the undercard is better.
How does Bonnaroo's lineup get embarrassed by Boston calling?
I think Boston Calling is an up and coming festival. They took a year off, went from 2 fest's a year to 1, and actually have a festival ground now. It's going to be nice to have what looks like a decent local option.

How is a lineup of 50 bands where about 25% played bonnaroo before and 25% playing Roo this year win over bonnaroo? Someone explain please. Tool fans need not respond because, well, you like tool.

Because a lot of the overlap are some of the highlights of the roo lineup. Plus Bon Iver, sigur Ros, solange, wolf parade, frightened rabbit.

Quality over Quantity. Considering the size and history of Bonnaroo we shouldn't even be having this discussion. But Bonnaroo decided to book something called Marshmello on their third line

Because it includes Bon Iver, Sigur Ros, Solange, and Run The Jewels to name a few, which are all more interesting acts than literally everything on Bonnaroo's lineup aside from U2?
Bonnaroo 2017 doesn't get points for booking acts like this years ago, that doesn't help counter the argument that the Roo lineup is a piece of shit this year. It just emphasizes that Roo doesn't book acts like this anymore.
And the fact that we're even having a reasonable debate between Roo and a festival with 50 bands that costs 25% less is pretty telling.

And no boregore.
No borgore, but also no room to skip borgore and make your own experience among 100+ other acts, camping, discovery, Late Nights or Thursday. Id sub name recognition for all that and some downtime inbetween any day.

Nobody's comparing the experiences. Just the actual lineup

How is the right question. How did Bonnaroo let this happen? How are they getting beat by fests that are half their size?

I give it another year until Live Nation, Golden Voice, Etc. get ahold of it. Then there'll be enough marshmello and getter for everyone.

Quality over Quantity. Considering the size and history of Bonnaroo we shouldn't even be having this discussion. But Bonnaroo decided to book something called Marshmello on their third line
"The album topped iTunes electronic album chart on the first day.[8] As of 30 July 2016, the album is twelfth on the chart.[9] Two singles were released from the album, titled "Keep It Mello" featuring rapper Omar LinX and "Want U 2".[10] The album peaked number five on Billboard's electronic/dance albums chart.[11]"
He has worked with Skrillex and Tiesto, 2 of the biggest names in the genre. The Marshmallow guy is going to be headlining shit in a few years as his fanbase grows, and it will be awesome for kids to remember when they saw him the first time in a small tent at Bonnaroo, like I have done for bands of the genres I enjoy.

He's a product of marketing. He used to be dotcom and didn't make a splash so he copped a schtick from deadmau5. He's a flavor of the week type booking that five years from now no one will give a shit about. Ya know, like Tiesto.

In that regard you could flip it to how does a coastal festival in the Northeast only manage to get tired old Mumford, a rapper with one album, and a controversially liked/disliked Tool as their headliners? Add conflicts and you maybe see a lucky what? 15 sets all weekend?

And the Daft Punk fans said the same thing about Mau5 when he came about and he's been going longer than a decade. Chance is headlining this festival and the dude just got hot less than a year ago.
