She has already admitted she has horrible music tastes. Let her enjoy her 2017 Bonnaroo, she will have a blast and that is what matters. We can be snobs and go somewhere that has lineups that make us happy.
but from the overall vibe of inforoo right now.. it sounds like yall aren't happy with hardly any lineup?

Don't be silly. Most people here are very pleased with the lineups that Coachella, Gov Ball, Panorama, and Boston Calling have released.
Everyone has turned into true festival snobs and you have expectations. You know what happens when you have expectations? YOU GET LET DOWN. ALWAYS.
I've said it before in other threads. I live in little rock arkansas where NO music comes through. I've only seen 3 artists on this lineup so they aren't repeats for me. I don't go to multiple festivals. Bonnaroo is my only adult only kid free vacation i get a year and I will be there regardless of the lineup. I happen to love this year's lineup. I haven't been this excited since 2014. Which was also my first year.
I don't know these glory days everyone speaks of but I haven't been to a Bonnaroo I haven't fucking enjoyed.
Last year's lineup dropped and I knew literally 6 artists and had to research all the other bands but found a lot I fell in love with! This year, I immediately saw 26 artists I knew and was instantly excited for and after research i've added another 51 to that list.
Yeah... there aren't 70 edm acts so it's fair to say, I truly am excited and not just bc the lineup is edm heavy. I fucking love Bonnaroo and I can't wait!
Yall need to quit being debbie downers already.
To be clear, it makes me happy you are excited about the lineup. I know you are going to have a lot of fun and that is great. And if I went to Bonnaroo this year, I have no doubt I would have a good time, even if I'm not interested in much of the music booked. There is decent food to eat, I'm outside in the sun surrounded by loads of interesting looking people, I'm in a place where I've had a lot of happy memories, and there are loud noises and colorful things and various pleasing 2kHz-60hz tones happening all around me.
I also recognize that a lot of my musical tastes have changed. Some of this is due to age, and my overall fear of the kids these days with their EDM, zimas, hula hoops, and pac man video games. Some of this is changing tastes, as I'm only recently discovering there is a whole swath of electronic music out there that has nothing to do with American EDM, and I'm super excited about discovering it. Furthermore, about the only popular music that excites me is hip-hop, although I keep an open mind and try to stay up on whatever rock/indie/pop stuff is being offered. Yes I still love my Phish, my Dead, and some other jam stuff, but I'm not insane enough to think Bonnaroo is going to "return to form" and suddenly book KDTU late night and pay Drums & Tuba to reunite.
I can't speak for everyone who is complaining, but personally my expectations are in check. I left Bonnaroo Sunday last year fully accepting it might be the last time I set foot on the farm, because Bonnaroo has changed AND I've changed. I don't expect Bonnaroo to stay the same because it never has, in fact the changes it made in the past are part of what made it so great. I also don't expect myself to stay the same, because I want my musical and artistic tastes to constantly be challenged by new and exciting things.
It's the emphasized point above that leaves me with a feeling of disappointment about the 2017 Bonnaroo lineup. It's not challenging, it's not exciting, it's not weird, at least not for me. Maybe it is for other people. Maybe other people don't want to be challenged, which is fine, because different people enjoy music and art for different reasons. Or maybe they do want to be challenged and what challenges them doesn't challenge me.
My expectations were in check, I'm not devastated, in fact I'm excited to try out a different festival. But I am a little bit sad, and I think it's OK for me to exorcise that sadness by taking to the internet and making snarky jokes and taking delight in others doing the same.
So call me a wook if you must, but the truth is I'm just a custie. And this custie is taking his business elsewhere in 2017.
Sorry Bonnaroo disappointed you and I hope you find a festival that fits your music tastes this year.
I understand why everyone is upset but inforoo just beats stuff into the ground until it's like "really guys? it's been 83 days since the lineup dropped. WE GET IT. YOU HATE MARSHMELLO" lol no hard feelings against anyone, even the people who have personally insulted me and my existence for being excited about the lineup. You guys really can make someone feel special when you want

Shaky Knees and Boston Calling are both top notch in my opinion. I am not sure about other fests or other people, but that is my views... and I am not sure if I can make it to either.
EDIT: The fact that I might not be able to make it to either of the festivals that I am digging the lineup on, makes me even more sad that Bonnaroo isn't doing it for me. I really am hoping that between ACL, JazzFest and Voodoo I find a place I can get away and be happy. I wish that those had camping, that is one of my favorite things about Roo.

House is part and the other is having to pay for lodging (and flights if I did Boston Calling).
Are we reading the same thread? I don't see any evidence that people are generally unhappy with every lineup that has been released thus far.
the festivals you mentioned are in the top tier, everything else is lacking or something blah blah blah
I mean, most people have don't even have 10 festivals on their rankings because most lineups haven't been released yet. I just think you're making a sloppy generalization. As far as Bonnaroo goes, I'm happy for you that you're excited about it. Many people here are not particularly satisfied with the lineup, and it's simply a matter of personal preference.

you're taking it personally and idk why man
I am? I'm not trying to pick a fight or anything. I'm just disagreeing with your blanket statement. And I'm definitely not going to insult you for liking this lineup. That would be ridiculous.
Like, of course you gave this pile of shit a 10/10. That's the least surprising thing I've ever heard.
It's so cute when I don't get on inforoo or ever post, but when i do.... you follow me and show me love in every thread. You are literally my favorite person, ever. Surprised yet boo boo?

I generously gave the lineup a 6. I've been going since 2012 and this lineup is definitely way worse than 12/13/14. On the other hand, its definitely better than 16. I give it the slight nod over 15 but I can also see why someone would make the argument the other way. For me, U2 is a huge booking and makes up for a lot of the sins in the under card. The mass of shitzy EDM/DJ acts and vanilla synth based pop in the middle of the poster is not good and doesn't bode well for the general direction they are trying to take the festival. The missing diversity and complete lack of a unique legacy acts adds to the mess. Looking though the bottom third of the line up, things got a bit more interesting and I was able to find some smaller new bands that I am interested in checking out. In the end, it looks like a double down bet on the 2015 music direction. The ticket sales will be interesting. U2 is going to help, given the fact that there aren't many major city stops in the SE on their current tour. If they can't get back up around 80K with U2 playing at the top of the bill then they have REAL problems. Even if they do manage to bring the sales up on the U2 booking, there are only so many U2 white rabbits to pull out of the hat. If so, 2018 could be even more interesting.

The red state vs. blue state divide is now affecting festival attendance.

I'm pretty sure nerdbyrd and I both live in red states. Louisiana is as red as they get. Nola the only blue in the whole state.
Lol if you're personally offended that people with bad taste in music (AKA the target demographic of this festival) somehow made it onto this Elitist Web Forum For Radiohead Nerds

I haven't been to N.O. in too long, considering Jazz Fest this year!!

Fingers crossed the lineup is amazing. I have high expectations.
