And instead of saying all of your goodbyes - let them know you realize that life goes fast - It's hard to make the good things last-you realize the sun doesn't go down - It's just an illusion caused by the world spinning round
Sadly, we live in a world where Chance > AF and Ryan Adams is a #18.
As previously mentioned, the Lolla billing this year is so fucked up and it hurts my head. Should have been Arcade Fire - Muse - Killers - Chance. Chance is a #4 everywhere else, even Hangout

Oh and since I missed to convo on the 1975 a few days ago, I feel like they could definitely be at Roo, but unless they change their sound a lot, I don't think their new album could really push them up all that much because they've pretty much already reached everyone that would like them. It'd be a solid booking for Roo IMO, would secure a lot of ticket sales and their music isn't bad.
and honestly, that was the most disappointing #4 show I've seen at Bonnaroo since I've been going (2014).
Yeah I really couldn't have been more unimpressed with him than I was
I still don't understand what show other people saw. But as far as disappointing #4 go I think Kendrick was way more disappointing. Basically playing the same set he'd been doing for two years with barely any new material in the set list. Also playing M.A.A.D City for like 15 minutes. But I had pit for both shows and still had an amazing time

Are you arguing more people would show up to see Arcade Fire than Chance?

Possibly. Chicago is his hometown so I'll give him that, but Arcade Fire is still > Chance. It's just the way things are.

That's crazy talk. Chance is way more popular and it's not even close. Chance would draw a bigger crowd than Arcade Fire at any festival. Just because they're white dudes who play guitar doesn't mean they should be billed ahead. Not that any of this actually matters because they're both headliners and it's just placement on a poster.

Yeah I guess Arcade Fire is probably falling a little bit from a couple of years ago too, the new album isn't as good as their previous ones

Well... I think a big part of it (at least for me) was that Chance had some serious hype going in for his first headlining show as 'The Mayor of Bonnaroo'. I think he even claimed the title earlier in the weekend at Francis' set. A standard show would be disappointing with the hype level he had going in. Chance also fucked up with the Kanye references... everyone around me was thinking he was about to bring Kanye out... and when it didn't happen the crowd around me sorta deflated a bit.
Kendrick's hype wasn't nearly as high and I think he put together a better overall show. I do wish he would've played more off TPAB, but he played enough that I was happy... especially because he hadn't been playing much off TPAB coming into Bonnaroo.
IMO, the best three rap sets I've seen on the farm are Kanye, Kendrick, and Macklemore (yes, Macklemore.). Chance is on the outside looking in.

Kendrick actually played quite a bit off of TPAB live for the first time at Roo after not including any of it at Sasquatch. I enjoyed the set. The M.A.A.D. City part went on too long, but the crowd loved it. That segment was better at Day For Night when he brought people out of the crowd to attempt a verse. The best was when one guy gave up and just started freestlying. He was the only one not to get the Sandman Sims treatment and booted off stage.

Arcade Fire has been way more relevant for much longer than Chance the Rapper, surely that counts for something

He played four songs. One of which was a concert debut of "These Walls" with Anna Wise on stage which was awesome. I'm just jealous that Okeechobee got a set much better set

Seemed like it was more. I must be confusing it with his Day For Night set, which included the Kunta's Groove Session band and was my favorite of the 5 times I've seen him live.

It's okay I enjoyed Macklemore for a good 30 minutes in the pit section before the weather evacuation.
and this was literally my favorite moment at Bonnaroo this year.

I love running over to the Bonnaroo sub and reading about how it's time to forgive Kanye and that they wouldn't mind seeing Katy Perry or Bruno Mars billed in the top four lmfao

Without checkin' previous schedules/lineups my top 3 rap sets would prolly rank as so:
Jay-Z GZA (performin' "Liquid Swords") Childish Gambino (his second year)
Honorable mentions to Atmosphere and The Knux (also their second time performin').
I'm also not a huge rap/hip-hop guy. But yeah, Jay-Z was so good he made me late to see Thievery Corporation whom I had been wantin' to see live some four to six years at that point.
