They're not gonna have the claw at bonnaroo though, right?
Given that that tour ended 6 years ago, and they've toured since then without it, not to mention that would involve completely forgoing the What stage, I'd guess not. I mean their setup will still be expensive, but I'd guess not much more than McCartney's. Just based on production expense I'd think Beyoncé's will be pricier
I guess what I'm saying is that the production for roo shouldn't be close to what it was for the claw.
I worked setup/takedown fer the 360/"claw" tour in Raleigh, NC. I heard they had two other stage setups to accommodate both size of other locations and to speed up the setup/takedown process at the next show. And yeah, it's an old setup that won't be used at 'Roo. The production of the show itself could still be bananas as fuck though. It's U2.

So I've been trying my hardest to get The B-52's on our lineup. I've messaged all the members through different social medias and the official band page and bonnaroo page.
They're open for Roo this year and I would die if we got them. They wouldn't cost very much, they would be a perfect older addition to the lineup around the top-mid tier. They are also an amazing band in general and are so much fun. The B-52's would fit so well. If you agree please try to get Bonnaroo and The B-52's to at least consider it!

These "legendary" acts are so 2015 and earlier.
Not a knock on The B-52's, as I would totally catch 'em!

It's not necessarily a "legendary" act, it would be for me but it's not like they're a HUGE band.
I feel like they would really add some more depth to any of the past years lineup but I feel like now more than ever we need it

Keep trying!!!!!!!!!
Sorry guys, no B-52's and also does this mean there are no late additions??
I hear ya about it being U2, but really, I don't know what they'll be able to do with a festival setting. It could very well end up being the biggest production Bonnaroo has ever had, but I can't recall anything too crazy mindblowing in my 13 years there in terms of stadium style production. I suppose they could come set it up a few days before if they play Friday, but tearing it down would be hard, though I don't think Weeknd has much pro if he plays Saturday. I wonder what the biggest production ever has been. McCartney had those enormous screens and FIRE. I know Kanye had a ton of money in production his most recent year. Who else? Tool had cool lights that time. Flaming Lips spaceship deal was cool. Trying to think here...who takes the cake on biggest production in Roo history?
The artist additions were paired with the LN announcement last year right? I'm thinking they might've held off on The Avalanches because they'll be a top late night act and want to make the announcement a bigger deal than it'd be otherwise.
That or Roo really managed to screw that up and missed out on them.

Let's stop giving them the benefit of the doubt. It's much more likely that they just didn't book them rather than holding them back for a later date.
Holy crap guys, I feel honored to have received an answer! This is awesome that they may think about! I'm excited!
...what do you think is going to happen here?
Really more has happened than I had hoped for already, I'm not expecting them to come but they might think about it and they may want to come another year.

I don't care though, getting a response is great!
Just so we're clear, you think that basically a band could just call up Bonnaroo and say "hey, we want to play this year now, thanks, see you in June"?
Admittedly, there are no doubt a few bands/artists that they would definitely be okay with this.
May Tycho May Phoenix June Rooo July MMJ and Margo Price August Queen with Adam Lambert August Roger Waters (Bucket list #1) August Spoon and Portugal the man Sept Depeche Mode Sept Pilgrimage Fest
Well the post about two openings was for local bands.
I don't remember it saying anything about being local
All of these contest slots have always been for the club stages. None of the Road to Bonnaroo or SoundCloud winners ever played a main stage. Of course, with bands like Dua Lipa who likely would have been a club stage act in past years, who knows? But you can pretty much be guaranteed that a Foxygen, Sturgill Simpson, or Avalanches isn't playing via a contest. That said, there likely will be a few additions. If nothing else, I don't think there has ever been a year when someone hasn't dropped and been replaced. That's how we got Charles Bradley last year. Of course, the way our luck is going, the drop will be Margo Price and not Marshmello...

Maybe local is the wrong word, but it's basically "maybe your band or a band you know has a chance of playing Bonnaroo!" type of thing. They're not looking for major touring acts.

I would like to see Highly Suspect and St. Paul & the Broken Bones added to the lineup.
Sorry, but the odds of St Paul & the Broken Bones being added are slim, given that they're booked for LaureLive in Cleveland the Saturday of Bonnaroo. I'll probably buy the single-day ticket to see mainly them and Gary Clark, Jr since it's local.
I see you're in Columbus, though I don't know your music tastes or whether you're committed to going to Roo. Anyway, I'm probably skipping this year (hopefully just this one) and hitting up Nelsonville and the Saturday of LaureLive instead. Also maybe Radiohead later in the summer, depending on when/where the play in Ohio.

Is Radiohead for sure hitting up Ohio this summer?

No, but no tour dates announced after July 5, and only a handful of US dates so far, all West Coast plus KC, Miami and Atlanta. So there should be a lot more US shows eventually since they've pretty much completely missed the Midwest and East coast in the first half of 2017. Unless something happens and they really limit their touring I can't see them skipping Ohio. Blossom or the Q in Cleveland make sense.
