pretty much agreed. I like the concept, I just don't know how well it will be executed. I think within in the year though there will be enough games for me to justify it.
With that said, I pre-ordered. With a Zelda launch and a Mario in 2017, I'm afraid they'll be difficult to get.

I got one pre ordered just to resell to pay for fests. Since they are only launching 2 mil units there's def gunna be a shortage like the wii was when it came out. Should be able to resell for at least double. JUst look at those nes minis no one can get em and they're reselling for 200+ .

You think there's going to be a shortage? I'm half anticipating another flop.

I guess we'll see but preorders are alrdy gone most places. Nintendo always does this limit release crap to create demand. Ppl always want what they can't get.
I preordered Switch and got Breath of the Wild. I think my local store had one more pre-order slot available.
I got the grey... I liked it better than the red/blue.
I love the five new BotW amiibo. My wallet is not happy today but I can't deny Zelda when she is in need.
Quack, I didn't see any game pre orders. Think it'll be difficult get a hold of?
You shouldn't have much of an issue with the standard version.
I preordered the grey one and BOTW special edition this morning and I believe you can't get the SE or the master sword addition anymore and I don't think they are restocking those versions again in the future.
Maizy just went to preorder it, but there are none available (Walmart, Target, Best Buy, Amazon) except at Gamestop, where I suggest no one shop ever. I may be one of those people at Best Buy at 8:00 A.M. on March 3rd.

Why no gamestop? I k ow they're infamous for their hard to find items in bundles, but typically you can return all the extra non needed cheap in store for a full refund. I did this for two different nes classics.

Gamestop? Meh.
I just put the gray Switch in my Target cart this morning, said unavailable at checkout... hit refresh on my cart for about 15 minutes (over and over again) and kept adding it back (most times saying unavailable, sometimes actually adding, but disappearing when I go to checkout)... Got one finally though! Just have your card info ready prior!
Why buy a new console when you are only gonna play Zelda on it? I bought a Wii u in 2015 anticipating this game lol if they make another Zelda game it will be years down the road and the switch will be much cheaper.

THE new Zelda is a launch game for march 3. Also this won't have the stigma of Wii U. The wii was successful bc of casual market (parents, grandma buying a Wii) the Wii U confused ppl cause they thought it was just a accessory to wii and flopped. Also love ok at the huge success of Pokémon go and imagine that fully fleshed out in a full game on switch.
Idk i got mine but I'm sure I'll just resell since demand will be high.

We have kids and we will be interested in Mario, Lego, Sonic, Minecraft, etc.
We pre-ordered Zelda... And I am sure JR will want Skyrim... (Although I think he already beat it on another system)?
Nintendo usually has some fun party games too. We liked Wii Play, as lame as it is.

The Wii U was probably the worst investment into technology I've ever made... I think Zombi U was the only true game that won me over on the console. Luckily, I sold it and didn't lose hardly any money.
The Nintendo Switch sounds like it's going to be different. I never liked the gimmick of the Wii U and it was too bulky. The Switch looks user-friendly and mobile. I think Nintendo made a wise decision this time and will bring fans what they want.
I do hope to see: Luigi's Mansion 2 Paper Mario Switch Metroid Switch Mario Kart Switch Secret of Mana Switch
... and some more classics revived. Not to mention that new Mario game set in NYC (and other cities) looks fantastic.

agreeed. I was a nintendo fanboy until the WiiU. I bought it at lauch, tried to like it. Really really wanted to like it. But several months later I traded it for an xbox one which I eventually sold on craigslist for a loss.
I think/hope switch is going to be different. The battery life on the console kind of blows, but I'm hoping for an external battery pack of some sort to stick on it. Also, using a non proprietary (USB -C) is a welcome addition. I'm sure it's the next industry standard, and the though of being able to charge my phone and switch with the same cable is promising.
Preordered zelda through amazon for 50 with prime. Not sure why I couldnt find it on their site, but googled "breath of the wild switch amazon" and got a link to it. seems legit?

That should be it. On Amazon, I can only find it searching "breath wild switch" and they have an image placeholder for it but it's the same link.
I was hoping that with this console, Nintendo would be introducing downloadable Gamecube games from their Virtual Console store, but with such a small hard drive, I don't see that happening. Aside from that, the new Zelda does look excellent and Mario should be cool. Maybe some time down the road, but definitely not at launch.

I don't think it is going to be at launch but they do plan on adding GameCube games to the virtual console
