I was hoping that with this console, Nintendo would be introducing downloadable Gamecube games from their Virtual Console store, but with such a small hard drive, I don't see that happening. Aside from that, the new Zelda does look excellent and Mario should be cool. Maybe some time down the road, but definitely not at launch.
I don't think it is going to be at launch but they do plan on adding GameCube games to the virtual console
Expandable sd storage should give enough space to store plenty of past system games. Plus, I bet you could stream (not sure if that's the right word) those older titles in a virtual machine type scenario.
Why buy a new console when you are only gonna play Zelda on it? I bought a Wii u in 2015 anticipating this game lol if they make another Zelda game it will be years down the road and the switch will be much cheaper.
We have kids and we will be interested in Mario, Lego, Sonic, Minecraft, etc.
We pre-ordered Zelda... And I am sure JR will want Skyrim... (Although I think he already beat it on another system)?
Nintendo usually has some fun party games too. We liked Wii Play, as lame as it is.
If you want a good multiplayer game, I'd consider Super Bomberman R. It's a fun local/online multiplayer game that accepts up to 8 players, even locally. And it's a launch title.
I'm getting like, stupid excited for this thing. And I don't even know why. I'm such a sucker for gimmicks.
Two switch pre-orders placed, one pro controller, and Zelda
I've been geeking myself. February can't pass by soon enough!
Literally have the same things pre ordered haha, I'm not gonna need the second switch so I'm up in the air weather I want to sell it or just cancel the pre order.

Same boat on the second switch. I ordered through Nebraska Furniture Mart and then Target. I just wanted to make sure I got one, and I've never heard of Nebraska Furniture Mart and have had pretty poor luck with Target in the past.
If they both arrive I'll return the Target one, unless resell is like, 500 plus.
Guess you're right, I just watched a pre-order for a gray switch go for 470 + 30 dollar shipping.
I imagine after the super bowl ad airs Sunday they Switch hype will be alive and well. If these things more than double MSRP I'm probably going to unload both. I really want one, but a 600 dollar profit off of two console would go along way for my 'roo fund.
Both are cheaper at barnes and noble. Also think theres a Barnes and Noble membership that may get you another 10 percent off, my girlfriends a member but I can't figure out if I can apply the discount online. May go down to the store tomorrow just to see if I can do it at the register.
I don't think either of these will sell out though, I'm still on the fence as to whether or not I want a strategy guide. I feel like this game may be large enough that I need something to give me some sort of direction though.

You getting it?
I think I might just for a collector's item. I have a B&N membership and think if you get it online you get free shipping... in the store you get 10%. Their website has a Vday coupon, too, you might be able to use. I'm not sure if it works on pre-orders or not.

The new Zelda game will offer a $19.99 DLC package at launch. It'd be nice if they would bundle this into the Master Bundle!
There has been a lot of mixed feelings online about it. But coming from the Zelda creators, they aren't ones to leave half the game unfinished for you to buy in DLC. Yeah I wish it was included in the special and master editions but you are getting your money's worth in physical items with the limited editions.
Personally I got excited af yesterday when news broke. More content for an already massive game. The new story and dungeon will be hotly anticipated once people start finishing the game.
I don't really know how I feel about it. I was seeing red when the news came out yesterday.
I'm of the mindset that a Nintendo expansion pack, on a Nintendo system, with a Nintendo online subscription, With Nintendo Amiibo's, should be included. They'll make enough off the game to warrant free expansion packs.
I really hate DLC, always. It seems like a FTP phone game that you have to pay extra to unlock features on. Only the Game isn't free. With that said, I understand when third party developers do it, I don't think that Nintendo should be doing it though.
So now to get EVERYTHING in Zelda. Game 60 Expansion pack 20 Archer Link 16 Rider Link 16 Zelda 16 Bokoblin 16 Guardian 20 Wolf link 16 OoT Link 13 Wind Waker set (link and zelda) 25 8 bit link 13
230 dollars. I know you don't have to get all the amiibos to enjoy the game, but it just has a FTP phone game feel to it. Them charging another 20 for an expansion pack seems ridiculous. If anything, I think it should have been included with a paid online subscription, and not announced until the subscription service launches.

I gotta ask, if the amiibo had no in game effect would you still have bought the figures? I don't own a single amiibo but do plan on getting a few eventually. The in game effects hardly swayed me to make a purchase, more of a bonus on top of the figurine that you are buying for sentimental sake.
The smash ones were the only ones intriguing and I will probably get some of those once smash comes out for switch. I just don't see it as forced upon. Not even the DLC because you still have an entire game to play. This isn't EA or Activision were talking about.
And just think if Nintendo charges 20-30 bucks a year for online and they give you a free monthly trial of a nes/snes game with added online multiplayer, plus they let you save your game data to the cloud and have dedicated servers for all their first party multiplayer games. I don't see how giving an expansion to a game that (potentially) some people don't own is a good business practice for their online services. Plus that will set a precedent that all nintendo DLC should be included with online which is unreasonable with all the other things youre getting for half the price of ps4/xbone.

TBH, I'm holding out on buying the Amiibo until I see what they do in the game. And 95 percent of the reason I will buy them is in game additions. It's the only reason I went out and bought Wolf Link (first amiibo).
Smash ones I may pick up if the older ones work and I can find them on the cheap, but again, It'll be mostly for in game features than a toy to sit in my entertainment center to collect dust. And the expansion really does feel forced upon at this point, IMO. Maybe I wouldnt if I already had the game and put a good couple of months in grinding out quests and I wanted some extra content, or the NEW hard mode, it just feels dirty being announced before the switch or the game are even released.
As far as 20-30 bucks a year for online with a "free" trial of a NES/SNES game, I'd rather them give it permanently or not at all. It's so simple to download an emulator and get a controller on any device you own now that I don't even consider this a benefit of the online membership. Cloud backup and decent servers for online games will be nice though. I'm no marketing guy, but I think a "Come to Nintendo where of IP DLC is included in your low cost subscribtion" could really have been a revolutionary opportunity for them.

At least nobody is forcing you to buy the DLC, and the day 1 incentive isn't big enough that you couldn't wait until DLC 1 comes out and see the reviews, and even wait till DLC 2 if you weren't impressed.
Amiibo aren't the best deal admitidly but I can't see a game that required the amiibo for anything that would cause detriment to the gameplay otherwise.
As for the S/NES games, at least with online multiplayer in mind. I doubt there will be a large install base on these games. But if Mario kart for SNES is free with online matchmaking for 1 month, I bet a shit ton of people will play and enjoy it for that one month. If you like it so much after you can buy it but it's more of a fun community thing, at least the way I'm seeing it.
For all my biotchin and moaning, I have ordered Zelda, Rider Link, Strategy guide, Wolf Link, and the Expansion Pack that I shiz on so much.
Also, Pro Controller and now 4 Switches. I think I'm going to cancel the one I got from Nebraska Furniture mart as the other 3 are from Jet, Best Buy, and Target and would all be easy returns if there's no market for reselling.

Lol I just preordered the expansion as well. Totally not required but why not
You might want to cancel those amiibo preorders though. I just found out you can buy a pack of ten blank NFC cards from Amazon for 10 bucks that you can program as any of the amiibo available now, so the new ones shouldn't take any time to copy over. All you need is an Android phone with an NFC reader. That's how I'm gonna do the wolf link amiibo with 20 hearts.

Yeah, I saw that. I had a 10 dollar gift card from power up points that I used for the wolf link amiibo. I've got a super Zelda fan at work that's gonna 20 heart it for me over the weekend. He almost seems excited to do it. I think I'll cancel Rider Link and try to rip Nintendo off of a little money with the NFC stickers.
I don't think I've been as excited for a console in so long, I really hope it's not a huge pile of shiz. I don't even understand it either. There's nothing super dope about the switch, I'm just hyped up about it. I probably refresh the subreddit 50 times a day, doesn't help that works slow so I spend most of my day lurking here and on reddit.
I also don't know how I'll feel about bringing it to roo, but it could be a cool companion for all the camping area. Bring my projector and throw some 1-2 switch or Mario Kart on a sheet at night?

Lol that's pretty crazy your friends gonna hook you up. Good friend! Hey any amiibo saved is money towards the DLC! The cards will actually be much better for the switch since they will fit in whatever case I'll be taking with me on the go.
Also good move canceling the preorder from the hardware store, bahaha. Sounds like a sketch place to rely on.
I feel like it would be great at roo for the downtime during the day, great pregame activity.
As long as it's not to dry and dusty out... The fan vents are pretty big on that thing.
Yeah, I've got a small TV to bring if I want to use it during the day. Otherwise my POS projector would only work at night. My main concern would be locking it up in the pop up camper all day, or locking it in the oven of a car all day.
