Bear with me but... screw you, Auburn. I was totally ready to watch a death spiral this year and was completely checked out. How dare they make this one of the more interesting recent years. Now I get to turn into a nervous mess during the Iron Bowl again.
After Saturday, I did think some on how some wanted to fire Malzahn (and Odom) during this season. I doubt many Auburn people want to show him the door now.
I was surprised we're #2. I thought we'd be 4, maybe 3. They're giving us a lot if respect. I think they look at it like Herbsreit does, if Clemson puts it all together they're the best team. They're pretty much throwing out that loss because KB was hurt.
I can't even put into words how dumb it is to excuse a loss because of an injury.
Other than that, Clemson at 2 is kinda dumb, but whoever wins the ACC is in, so it'll work itself out. And OSU isn't getting in, their 2 blowout losses should disqualify them.
You say that, but they're 9th right now. If they win out they can get in. They'll jump Notre Dame who is 8th and plays two weak opponents to close the season with no conference championship.
If Bama wins out that knocks out Auburn and UGA.
They'll jump Wisconsin by beating them in the Big 10 Title Game.
If Clemson loses the ACCCG they drop out below them as well. If Miami loses I have a hard time believing we stay ahead of them, as angry as that makes me.

I still think they need help. They probably need michigan to beat Wisconsin this week to give them another solid ranked win.

If Wisconsin wins out they still get in. If they’re as bad everyone says they are they won’t win out and it won’t matter.
Edit: I don’t think OSU makes it though. If Michigan beats Wisconsin and OSU wins out it won’t look much different than facing an undefeated Wisconsin in the championship. OSU needs some more chaos to get the bump.
Edit 2: I don’t actually think Wisconsin will win out.

I know, right? He was one of the coaches in the hot seat discussion at the beginning of the season. As recently as the LSU game things looked dire for him. A lot of the fans, myself included, get frustrated with his micromanagement and his seeming inability to put away the game. Losses to UGA and Bama probably would've closed the door on the Gus Bus.
Just goes to show you that stomping UGA makes for pretty great job security on The Plains.
If Oklahoma loses again I think the Canes get in even if they lose to Clemson as long as it's not a blowout.
Depends on what happens in the SEC and Big 10.
SEC champ in ACC chanp in Big 12 champ in if it's Oklahoma Wisconsin in if they win out Bama in if they lose and Oklahoma or Wisconsin lose Ohio St if they win out and Bama wins SEC Miami in if they lose, Bama wins SEC and Oklahoma loses

People are acting like losing a qb for a half game and 11.5 games are the same thing. The committee knows based on what had happened that Bryant has returned for Clemson. Francois was lost for the season so FSU is an inept comparison. If Clemson were to lose Bryant this week for the season I think it would affect their ranking.
Got to say that it's been fun watching how Muschamp has turned around the South Carolina program. We're poised to have our best record since Spurrier's winningest season in 2013. I'm really excited to see how we look in the next couple of years.
But in a more personal level, this Thanksgiving holiday my brother and I will be home in SC for the first time since my brother started at Clemson in 2011. He's finishing up his graduate program this year, so this is the first time our house-divided rivalry will be under the same roof to watch the Clemson-South Carolina game.

True. I hope he does nothing but hand off this weekend. Gotta go all against SC though.

yeah because it hasn't happened often in the past 20 years. Hope to play Auburn again in the championship. Terrible game to attend as a UGA fan, sat in the student section with free tickets. Did not realize you can't leave the section unless you have a paper ticket because they fence in students. Left at halftime. Halfway to Athens by the end of the game. Blacked out before I got there.

Currie went down to Tampa to talk to Gruden about the job. People are losing their goddamn minds.
this is when I wished I paid for a Tennessee message board. PM me the good stuff, I need it!
I try not to go too far down the Tennessee message board rabbit hole. It gets weird. I had a very frank and serious discussion with a coworker today. He really can't comprehend why I'm not psyched for Gruden. He thinks I'm being crazy.

I think Vol fans who want Gruden are crazy, but I get the psyche behind it - biggest name out there with a connection, jilted by Kiffin after a year, turned down by Gundy, settled for Dooley and Butch two times in a row...sometimes you just want someone to love you back, and Gruden would be a big fish in that regard.

I can see that for sure. There is that undercurrent of worry that Tennessee will never be good again flowing through Knoxville. Gruden is a longshot fit any team, so he's probably a bad person to pin your hopes on.
He used the "We tried the small school route twice, and it didn't work." defense which surprised me because he knows that Dooley's hire wasn't really us intentionally going after a smaller coach. We just had to scramble and get someone. In his defense, I did get him to admit Venables and Mullen would be a good hire. I'm not sure he would go for Frost or Campbell at all.
Re: Gundy, I'm still surprised that people took him coming to Tennessee seriously. There were reports everywhere about how he likes to use offers from other schools to leverage a better contract at Oklahoma State.
