convince me otherwise. I couldn't find any boiler/ra/etc. Sets on YouTube.
No convincing should be necessary. It's all about what you want. If you're feeling like you'll wanna keep dancing after Justice then you should probably go to DJ Tennis and Kraviz. Hecker is going to be the kind of set where there are no lights, a fuckload of fog and the kind of music that will just have you planted to one spot for the whole show as he rapes your brain with very loud ambient sounds and drone noise. Also insane amounts of bass. I for one am not missing him for anybody as the whole rest of the lineup could have been garbage for all I care and I still would have come just to see him. Luckily that's far from the case though!

Big 40 minutes gap for me between the end of Tim Hecker and beginning of Thom Yorke. I know Thom's the big show for Sunday, but it's not really a highlight for me for the weekend - at least not yet. I won't be spending any time at Nina Kravitz regardless because I already skipped her at Buku last year after doing my research. To each their own, and for people excited for that DJ Tennis into Kravtiz ending, more power to them.
Tim should be interesting. I've watched a couple of his shows now, and while I'd rather that not be as late of a set, it's one of many spacier and headier sets I'm going to be at. I remember posting about that after researching a bunch of this lineup to know that there will be a lot of quiet/reflective sets for me this year with Gas, Snares x Lanois, Tim Hecker and The Album Leaf and Forest Swords. There really aren't any other festivals I can think of where I'd be looking forward to multiple ambient, chill, sound and in some cases ultra mellow sets like some of the ones I'm going to catch.
I've been excited since I bought my presale tickets, but with a week to go, anticipation is rising.
no response from D4N yet regarding cancelling the wristband and putting it at will call. really hope I can get this settled before I'm standing in front of the box office holding up the line.
LMFAO. I clicked on the progress and there are literally 12 checkpoints there. I did not come to my address yesterday, though if it had, I would have certainly made arrangements with you to see that you got it either on the way or I'd bring it to you in Texas because I'm not a thieving asshole.
US > Denver > Morrow > Mobile > Morrow > Mobile > Mobile > Mobile > Memphis > Amory > Memphis > Atlanta > New Orleans
Hey Houston mfers. We're staying on the south side of downtown +/- Fannin close to the Cathedral. We'll be in town Friday afternoon. Is there anything I need to eat/drink/see down in that area?
Catch what I can of the following: Of Montreal - Demdike Stare - Princess Nokia - Jlin - Pussy Riot - Gas - Forest Swords - James Blake - Venetian Snares - Tyler - Andy Stott -Jamie xx
Album Leaf - Acid Jeep - Marcus Marr - GY!BE - Mount Kimbie - Shlohmo - Justice - then hop around between Tennis/Hecker/Kraviz/Yorke depending on mood

Saturday: Demdike Stare > Jlin > Lil B (partial) > Gas > Pretty Lights* > Laurie Anderson > Roni Size / Snares x Lanois** > NIN/Bjarki/Andy Stott*** > Jamie XX/G Jones****
Sunday: Priests > Rabit/Rezz > En Vogue/Ryoji Ikeda^^ > Babyfather > Mount Kimbie > Justice / DJ Tennis / Tim Hecker^^^ > Nina Kraviz
* - I should probably choose Forest Swords over PL since I've seen PL a bunch, but I'm thinking after being inside listening to esoteric electronic music all afternoon I'll probably want to be outside in the crisp December air getting down to some beats as the sun sets.
** - Will start at Roni, then probably bounce to Snares to see whats up, either stay or head back to Roni
*** - Am considering catching the beginning of all three sets NIN > Bjarki > Andy Stott since their start times are staggered, then just end up where I end up.
**** - Jamie XX is the clear choice here but I know festival behavior pretty well, by this point in the night I'll be loopy and tired and crazy and don't know where the fuck I'll end up. I might be pants off at the trap DJ.
^^ - I feel like I should catch some of En Vogue right?
^^^ - See **** above, Tim Hecker looks great on paper but I think at this point in the night I'll crave something beat driven.

Fuck I'm envious and mad that I'm not going, especially since this festival could use all the support it can get in order to keep delivering these type of kickass lineups. FUCK.

The more I look at these videos of Justice the more it really looks like the better choice. However I also know I will be tripping shit Sunday and Shlohmo/Corbin into Hecker into Thom Yorke sounds like it will be much more enjoyable considering that fact. If I was just like drunk or high or rolling or god forbid sober, I'd probably choose Justice but alas.

There's a McDonald's right there. Never been, but I've been to others. Pretty good!
Seriously though, I think you'll be not too far from Mai's, which is a late night Vietnamese spot. There's also Midtown, which is where the boat shoes crowd goes to get their drink on. The bars there are ok, nothing special. There are almost always food trucks parked around the neighborhood on Friday nights. Not sure what the rotation is, but Correano's is one of the better ones. If you see that, hit it up.
I'd Uber over to the area around Montrose and Westheimer if you want some real quality food and bev.
For anyone considering missing Thom Yorke or Trent Reznor for that matter, don't worry, they'll show up at Pretty Lights' set
along with zombiecobain
i definitely listened to this way too much when it came out.
Dude same. This was one of my favorite songs back then and the first Pretty Lights song I ever heard. I really hope he plays it at D4N...even though I wont be there too see it.
Damn straight. Friday just gonna drink and smoke a little bit. Maybe eat an edible. Saturday I'm rolling my face off and drinkin a little bit. And Sunday is the most glorious of days because I will be tripping my face off on 3 or 4 tabs. Haven't decided yet. My only dilemma is wanting to trip for Shabazz Palaces but I know that if I do it that early Ill have already come down by Tim Hecker and that's the most important one for me. ITs a bummer...how is everybody else doing their days? Surely I cant be the only one getting quacked the quack up.

Oh yes I also wanna tell everybody that my mom will be there too on Sunday. So please say hi and make her feel at home if you see her. She'll be the heavyset red haired woman candy flippin her nuts off to Godspeed.
