the kids don't want Thom Yorke. I talked to ALL my young kid friends and none of them know who Thom Yorke is. the kids only want EDM and raps.
Yeah well the kiddos have plenty of other festivals where they can get there EDM and raps. Whereas for people like us, these type of festivals are so few and far in between. Let us have this one god dammit!

Ok so I've been listening to some of G Jones and as somebody who generally hates typical EDM music I actually kinda like what I've heard. Makes me wonder if Jamie XX is the definite right choice. The way I'll know that though is whether or not he'll be doing a live set or DJIng. Cuz if hes just djing for an hour and a half I might do G Jones instead. If he's actually playing stuff from his first two albums and other tracks he actually produced, then its Jamie XX without question. Does anybody know?

Jamie will be a DJ set but he usually plays some of his tracks in his mixes.

I saw him last summer ('16) and he did all of in colour and some other shiz mixed in

I have seen him like 5 times and couldn't tell any different between Jamie "live" or "dj" if it makes it any better. No doubt, he will end up being one of the best sets of the weekend.

also saw G Jones at Roo this year and it was fine, but if I had to pick, and turns out I do, it's Jamie hands down. (unless they turned the Yellow into some kind of Tomorrowland mega-light rig)

Okay that's good I guess. I know its weird but I am a little gunshy with musicians doing dj sets because my experience has been pretty awful. Baths vs Baths (dj set) awful. Bjork vs Bjork (dj set) horrible. Win Butler from Arcade Fire vs Windows 98 fucking terrible. Sphongle vs Sphongle DJ lame as fuck.... Hell even Thom Yorke's dj set was lame sauce. The list goes on and on. That's the only reason I ask.

Jamie XX is the best choice here. Neither are particularly rare, but Jamie is rarer than G Jones.
I like what I've heard from G Jones, but I haven't seen him live. He's kind of like Bassnectar's understudy, they've done a lot of stuff together. So more than EDM you broadly define his style as "bass music", but with dark psychedelic overtones similar to Bassnectar.
Jamie XX will be much housier/discoier, beat driven and dancey and carefree and fun. G Jones will be darker and trappier. I bet you'll have plenty of time to bounce between stages and end up where ever your mood takes you. But if you absolutely had to decide now, I'd say catch Jamie XX, you can catch G Jones at any given EDM stage and at any given festival.

Jamie has a real ear for digging. You'll get quite a few of his own tracks plus some cool remixes. If he weren't playing I probably wouldn't attend.

Yeah okay read the last thing I posted. I thoroughly enjoyed his studio work. However I know from multiple experiences that a lot of producers cater to the crowd and sometimes play garbage or mix bangers to keep everybody entertained. I don't like that. For instance Arca last year was nothing like what I had hoped. He didn't play one single song from any of his eps or albums. It was lame. Also if the "he only plays dj sets when he's solo" comment is referring to The XX then no shit. Still a difference between djing and a live set of YOUR music.

if you can't handle me at my G Jones, you don't deserve me at my Jamie.

Like I said, Jamie ONLY plays DJ Sets when he's billed solo. There is no such thing as a Jamie XX "Live" set.
And Arca last year was fucking incredible, it wasn't lame at all.
Lol alright man. No it wasn't. Yes it was good for a dj set but I wanted the weird fuckin dark ass trippy music that Arca is known for and he didn't deliver.
those are all terrible examples. Jamie literally only does dj sets. Those other musicians aren't DJs.
Clams Casino and Arca. Are those better examples?
No because Clams Casino isn't that good and Arca's DJ set was one of the funnest DJ sets I've seen. I don't get why you're making this so difficult. There's like 30 Jamie sets on youtube, watch one and make your own decision.

He literally strutted his ass around the stage in ass-less chaps. THE FUCK HE DIDNT DELIVER!

being uneducated about how Arca was playing live was your own fault.
