Not sure how it could result in better sight lines when the way they had it last year was at the bottom of the slope, making perfect sight lines for people in the back to look down over the crowd in the front.
Hello everyone! I just wanted to thank you guys for this thread. It's been very helpful in figuring out the logistics of this fest. Flying all the way from Washington for this and couldn't be more excited!

Was Blue on slope? I don't remember that.
Whoops, my bad, I thought you quoted my post about the Red Stage.

Mount Kimbie and Tim Hecker should have been switched.
Same with someone and Andy Stott, I feel like Tim and Andy are getting some of the best spots of the fest but they might not deserve them. They are both very cool artists though, glad to see them!
But the placement of many artists is kinda strange on this lineup to me, anyone else?
Well when I look online and see that he has videos of him playing shit off Xen and Stretch 2 like Brokeup, yeah sorry its a little misleading. Pitchfork this year I heard he actually had a normal set. Perhaps djing is whats bound to happen when you get over a 2 hour slot as a producer at a festival
he's touring a live set this year to go along with his new album. he wasn't last year. It's pretty simple.
Yes you're pretty simple. Easily impressed apparently. I apologize but there's nothing you can say to make me feel differently. I basically drove 15 hours to this festival for three people: Oneohtrix Point Never, Clams Casino and Arca. OPN destroyed it, Clams Casino was excellent and then I remember being front row for Arca praying that he would play mostly his studio work and he didn't play one song. Obviously I know you're not gonna get every song you want when you see somebody live but you expect them to at least play some of their studio work. Musicians change their live stuff depending on the crowd, which I respect but also hate. Sorry, maybe I need to start lowering my expectations and standards and then I'll be impressed by everything like you are. Everybody else here was actually cool and helpful and tried to answer my questions but you and Phyre Fest have to be massive pricks for whatever reason. I'm sorry I ever asked, now fuck off.
Also, having only seen The xx and not Jamie xx, I have heard multiple people on Inforoo say The xx is boring and Jamie is better. The xx was fine. Both sets are like 90 minutes so you can sample both. At the same time, G Jones is probably 3rd hardest set of the weekend with NiN and TJL being a bit harder. Anyone is free to dispute that but they would be full of shit. Advice? See them both.
Thanks for not being a massive cunt Esteban I appreciate it. I asked a simple question and I got stupid fucking answers like "Oh if you are even questioning seeing G Jones over Jamie then you don't deserve Jamie" I hate people like that. Fuckin music snobs. Please get cancer. In short I will be starting with Jamie XX since I'll already be there from Andy Stott and then depending on how I vibe migrate to G Jones. Thanks for the advice man
I don't give a shit what you see. You don't wish this on anyone. Get your head out of your ass and grow up. It's a music message board. We are music snobs. Let it roll, or walk.

Haha. Yeah. I know Phyre personally, and while yeah, he's going to be a dick on the message board sometimes, he's a good hearted mf and a hell of a photographer. As for hambone, she and I might butt heads from time to time, but there is literally no one who makes me laugh more on the forum. While she certainly can come off as an opinionated snob (I'm one too), she is a quality poster and has steered me to some shows I enjoyed over the years that I might not otherwise have seen. Nonetheless, I'll probably spend a little more time at G Jones. I don't mind dub, trap and harder stuff, and I don't really like house styled music. When Jamie did his solo part at The xx show back in October, the sound quality he was getting was on par with LCD at Voodoo or Little Dragon last year at Day for Night. Tbh, I was hoping that there would be some cheesy house shit closing out Saturday so I could go to Paul Wall's Playaz Ball for the insanity of what that would be.
Ima be with a pack of 8, but since this year is starting a bit earlier, I'm going to try to get down to wherever Inforoo is pre-gaming on Saturday am to say hello and put some names with faces in case paths cross at shows. I'll also be looking forward to meeting you.
While I have researched the shit out of the lineup, there is still a bunch of stuff I don't know and have gaps that I'll throw out there to see if there are any recommendations.
Current gaps in my schedule are:
Gap #1 - 1:00 - open until 1:50 (True American, Deep Cuts, Faten Kanaan or XLX)?
Gap #2 - 3:40 - open until 4:10 (Perfume Genius, JLIN, Tyler Barber)?
Gap #3 - 8:30 - open until 9:00 (Will probably go to Roni Size in this gap though
- Sunday Sunday Sunday -
Gap 2:00 - 3:10 - Kimbra? Priests? Jessy Lanza? Collin Hedrick? <-- is any of this shouldn't miss or is this go check out art hour? I watched a stream of Priests earlier in the year and wasn't that impressed. IDK
Btw, are y'all rolling in on Saturday morning or did you get the Friday pass again? I thought about it but I don't really care that much about the musical lineup that night except to say that I would see Jenny Hval and maybe Boots if they were on the regular schedule. I gotta figure out something to do downtown or Midtown on Friday since we'll be getting in around 3:00. Obviously I'm going to be drinking, and a guy I work with who used to live in Houston told me I need to go to El Tiempo which looks great but insanely expensive.
Only shows that have my interest that night are
The DK's with The Cops and Avenue Rockers (last I saw Kennedys without Jello it was only okay, but still)
Im rolling in Friday afternoon. I did end up purchasing a Friday Summit for $50. Saul Williams, Lord Heron, Kaytranada and Earl Sweatshirt seem worthwhile along with getting in early to learn they layout again. My brother, his girlfriend, and 2 other friends should be in the mix and Ill def be hitting you up to meet up along w some of the others posters. Going to have to leave by 9 Monday morning to get to work at 1pm because I'm dumb. I might see if I can change that today.

Wasn't that the set with the video on loop of decaying buildings and decrepit babydoll heads drowning in buckets of blood or something?
Oh ya and KennyBone and PhyreFesty are assholes, for sure. But the good kind. If you're even questioning that, you don't deserve to see their set their company
Considering you've found the need to respond to my threads as if you are threatened by me I offer you some peace my confused counterpart. May you find peace in your restless soul.

Tristan is indeed the cleverest lass in all the land.

Definitely check Jessy Lanza. I saw her earlier this year, one of my favorites so far.

I would have sworn though I only ever knew guys with that name. Shit. Now I'm confused.
nah, beers all around. but i think it was just Heineken last year? or maybe I'm remembering wrong
*and stella
Good to know! Beer gardens are the absolute worst at festivals.
100% in agreement there. Alcohol laws are almost the stupidest shit they ever came up with (besides drinking and driving obviously) only to be outdone by alcohol areas in festivals. I mean, wtf even is that.
