It was also fucking hilarious to walk into Laurie Anderson's set after hearing all you people call that a can't miss for the weekend. Trolled me good.
Haha. No troll intended. I knew she wouldn’t be doing 80s Avant Garde, but I assumed classical pieces. She told stories in a performance way. Like I said, she’s a fn genius and geniuses do random shit sometimes. I still stayed for the whole set and loved it, but it was different. Btw, I would never have guessed Mount Kimbie was up your alley. That shit was really great.

Now I'm honestly just curious what kinda music you think I like. Mount Kimbie's genre basically is my alley.

You listen or speak about lots of different types of music That was perfection live but had a progressive side to it. I figured for electronic though more Euro drug-styles of house but less live. I know you like sonic shit and I knew Rothric did too by his description of OPN last year. So this being that high up on your list, essentially the 1 for music, could have gone either way. I'm also with you on Tim Hecker. I was one of only a couple of our crowd to get much out of it. But it was special as fuck to me.

This has definitely taken the place of my favorite fest and the only one I feel positive I'll be attending next year. My only regret would not be staying more level throughout. It will be a good reminder for next time. I'm not going to attend to rank shows, but I was disappointed by a single set.
Of Montreal was much better than I expected and provided good energy to start the fest off
I didn't catch all of Perfume Genius, but enjoyed what I did.
Pussy Riot was a pleasant surprise. I expected it to be more of a novelty performance but it really exceeded expectations in both sound and showmanship.
Enjoyed what I caught of Pretty Lights.
James Blake was fantastic.
I was really into that NIN set and it was kind of a buzzkill when they announced they had to leave the stage.
Jlin and Jamie were both a blast.
Shabazz Palaces. Loved it.
Priests was badass.
Jessy Lanza! Wow! I only wish I would have caught the whole set instead of only the final three songs.
The Rezz crowd was really going and I stopped there for a good portion of the show and really enjoyed it. Trippy visuals. I loved those dancing seals.
The end of that Rabit x House Of Kinzo show was nuts.
Enjoyed En Vogue much more than I expected. SOlid nostalgic set.
Godspeed You! Black Emperor sucked me in and wouldn't let loose.
Jesus Lizard was fucking awesome.
After the energy given atJesus Lizard, I needed to come down a bit during St. Vincent and it is kind of a blur. Loved what I do remember.
Bounced around for both Nina and Tennis. Somehow forgot all about the Hecker show.
Thom sounded great. Again, only wish I was more levelheaded at this point.
Love the Day For Night team for making this fest happen the last three years. Can't wait for the next one.
All these Justice rave reviews are really making me itch to jump on Sydney City Limits tix...
I'm happy y'all are discovering the magic that is Day for Night. Monie and I agreed that the first year was one of our top festival experiences ever, and this whole thread has given us some Stage 5 FOMO. I hope we'll be back someday.
Is it dumb to think that Portishead or Massive Attack aren't completely unreasonable gets for this festival next year? I mean Aphex Twin, Thom Yorke, Bjork...I feel like it would fit. I'd like to see them snag Air too. I feel like a lot of acts that aren't usually play for a lot of fests are just slightly more likely to play DfN.

DfN would be perfect for both Portishead and Massive Attack. Only roadblock would be scheduling and the difficulty getting a visa to come to the US. I believe a couple of acts on this year's lineup had to cancel due to visa issues. This is also probably why EU-based fests tend to have better lineups.
Considering you've found the need to respond to my threads as if you are threatened by me I offer you some peace my confused counterpart. May you find peace in your restless soul.
They never replied to me about the $50 tshirt. Luckily I paid with PayPal so I just reversed the charge.
So I forgot to mention, when I got home yesterday my shirt was waiting on me in my mailbox. AND I still got my money back from PayPal. But the shirt is worthless, I ordered an XXXL and even though the tag on the shirt does say that, the shirt itself is barely a medium. Literally a joke.
How about that $125 rain jacket though? I encountered some bros in the Club Quarters lobby proudly wearing them. Outside of having an outline of the DfN logo it looked like some cheapo rain jacket you could get at Dicks Sporting Goods for $20. I ended up buying the red on black striped sphere shirt in Large. Hopefully it fits...

I don't think they are what you think they are. They aren't cheap material, and are actually pretty thick for an outer wind/rain jacket. I ended up getting one, and so did one of my friends. Admittedly you could probably get something similar in the $65-75 range retail, but there is a difference. The entire point of that jacket was that it was photoluminescent. So when light shines on it, all of the shades of grey on the jacket reverse from dark to light, and the light colors go dark (see the logo, as it's reversed in the flash from what you normally see). The whole point was a creative if not a bit cheeky take on the entire premise of the festival (reversing day for night). Here's a photo we tested with a flash to see how legitimate they were:
7. of Montreal - The Past Is A Grotesque Animal was the best song of the weekend.
I second this! Forgot to mention them in my favorite shows, but damn their set was a bunch of fun. They played Hissing Fauna in its entirety for anyone who missed it/didn't realize.
