Yeah, people are going to complain for months on end about MiA taking so long to release the lineup and their lack of social media presence, mocks will be posted, and at least once someone will mention that Jay-Z is "always in play" because it's his festival. Then eventually the lineup will drop and it'll be a half-decent mix of hip-hop, electronic, and rock acts that will probably be a pretty good value for the price, especially if you bought presale. Then someone will complain about the venue and the demographic that the fest attracts (possibly using the word "hoodrat"), and everyone will be upset because of the racial implication, but sooner or later that will blow over and remain buried in the sands of time and memory, as all things eventually are. Leading up to the fest someone will probably mention the evacuation that occurred a couple years ago due to weather, and some people might ask for recommendations for traveling and other sights to see in Philadelphia. Then the fest will actually take place; some people will like it, and some won't. Then the whole process begins anew.

No clue who's actually playing though.
so what you're saying is Jay Z - Daft Punk?
I'm calling Gorillaz. They've got a west coast show at Outside Lands in August, a semi-confirmed Demon Dayz Fest in Chicago, and nothing on the east coast yet. There aren't any other big east coast festivals during or after August that come to mind so I think it would make sense for an east coast performance.

please no Beyonce again. I dont think Future would headline, at least not yet. He isnt bigger than Chance or J Cole were the last 2 years and the were pre-HL

he's on the same level of popularity of both chance and j cole. every song he drops is a hit.
i dont think so. but i dont listen to that crap anyway so what do i know? Cant even recall hearing his name recently. even still, he wouldnt headline if Chance and Cole didnt. This fest always has more major headlining type acts.
I'm fucking with you guys, I have no idea or any inside info regarding Fall Out boy and Linkin Park. My only thoughts were that they would fit the "rock" mold for this festival and they have the Jay-Z connection.
Previous headliners: JayZ/Pearl Jam...Beyonce/Nine Inch Nails....Kanye West/Kings of Leon...Beyonce/The Weeknd (with the rumor being The Weeknd was a late replacement for Metallica)...Rihanna/Coldplay No way they suddenly book someone like Fall Out Boy. They're absolutely not on the same level as these other acts.
Depeche Mode makes zero sense for this festival, demographic-wise. The majority of their fanbase will not want to stand around with a bunch of 17-25 year olds all day and I imagine, for the price they ask for, they can get a lower teir "rock" band or pop headliner. That being said, they have the date open for maybe they're in talks? Also, for whatever reason, DM has a tendency to play AC rather than the proper Philadelphia area.
Yep you are right-- Depeche Mode isn't doing this - I just meant it would be awesome if they were.
I'll guess Justin Timberlake / J. Cole
Feel slightly more confident in this guess, now that JT was booked at Pilgrimage
as much as i'd hate to see j cole come back for a 3rd time..it is odd that he bypassed philly on his upcoming tour. plus the roc nation/tidal affiliation.
i know this was their last year on the original contract. has anyone heard if they've extended that? i could see jayz (and friends) headlining this year. i know he had said at one point that he didn't plan on headlining again, but he's doing v festival 2 weekends before.
also what about frank ocean? he's headlining a bunch of things this year. he just released a song w/ jay a few days ago. and as a featured artist on "made in america," i've always been waiting for him to finally show up at this thing.
JT would be great. it definitely fits the overall vibe. but that's probably wishful thinking

Really hoping they stick with a band as the second headliner like most years. To think of J-Cole again, this time as a headliner, not very exciting for most I would assume. The kid in me would be all over some Linkin Park. Nothing will ever compare to 2012, the only year I missed since I did not even know the festival existed.
