Whether it's your first Bonnaroo or you’re a music festival veteran, we welcome you to Inforoo.
Here you'll find info about artists, rumors, camping tips, and the infamous Roo Clues. Have a look around then create an account and join in the fun. See you at Bonnaroo!!
If you could book Roo in a way that would bring you back or make you excited AND sell lots of tickets/ appeal to the public, what would it look like? No don't say Daft Punk or book 3 number ones and six number 4s. Try to be realistic. Keep in mind that acts move up the bill pretty fast and use realistically possible acts. You can use acts like Fleet Foxes or Bon Iver but try your best to attempt realism while also appealing to what you'd like to see. You aren't going to have FYF in TN. I'll add mine later. Let's see what we can come up with.

I like it. But inforoo will never stop bitching.
i mean bitching is our job, but i think this would bring it down, and people would show appreciation in comparison to 16 and 17.

Okay, you kinda stepped all over the draft I'm rolling out when the Greatest Artist bracket is fine...

I haven't peeped that bracket in a weekish . I didn't mean to step on toes. Just wanted to spur conversation. This thread can die for all I care. I'll gladly take a look and see what you are doing though.

speaking of which, go vote people, championship is pretty damn close.

It's all good. I didn't actually say what it was going to be. I'll still do it because the competitive aspects of it should be different enough.

I honestly have zero opinion of which act is better. Neither do much for me, though I think both are talented. If I had voted it would've been an unnecessary write in vote. I'll leave the decision making in the finale to people who are passionate about it.

So are we going to be drafting to create our own festival lineup or something like that? I'm really interested now. Looking forward to what goes down. And my b again. I was just encouraging a conversation about what WE would want and what we think would move tickets vs what we were given.

i mean the more votes the better, i dont think anyone would mind.

Right but I literally don't care about one over the other. If you'd like, you can flip a coin and count that as my vote.

Yeah, one pick at a time we'll be picking competing lineups with no overlapping acts. I've been leaning towards twenty acts and then letting UFA's appear on any lineup.
Is LDR really HL now? I'd still put her in the 5-7 range at highest..... Or am I really just that out of touch with the kids these days?
She doesn't tour a ton, usually one tour per album cycle, and she doesn't stray from the major markets. You don't see her popping on every festival lineup even (ala Lorde) even though she has a new album coming. Her approach to live shows is "less is more" and I applaud her for it. Any fest that she appears on usually has a leg up on the competition as she does only a select few every couple years.
re: LDR, I'm shocked. She hasn't released anything since 2015 and it wasn't even that good. I saw her at ACL in 2014 and her set was sorta boring and nowhere near HL levels.
Anyways, my billing is all over the place, but here's what I came up with.
Roger Waters • Gorillaz • Arcade Fire • Björk
A Tribe Called Quest • Bon Iver • Missy Elliott • Chance the Rapper
The XX • New Order • Jamiroquai • Nick Murphy • Jagwar Ma • Air • Frank Turner
I also think I basically have a list of 15 top 6 acts, but ya know, whatcha gonna do. If I'm booking my own top 15 acts that'd get me back to $400 ticket expenses and 5 days in the summer Tennessee heat, then this is what I'm going to need. (Through doing this I also realized that I listen to a whole lot of hip hop and like no active rock acts....)

This is the first message board I've ever been on, the only reason I joined is because I love Bonnaroo and wanted to read and talk about it all year long.

Here's what you do.
Continue booking a legacy headliner as #1. Get Roger Waters, The Who, someone.
Get relevant or lauded hip-hop acts or bands for the other headliner slots. 2018 candidates presumably include Gorillaz, Arcade Fire, Vampire Weekend, etc.
Mix the top few lines with good touring options and unique stuff, i.e. see Roo's 2014 top lines.
Book some commercial EDM, but scratch the garbage and take a page out of the Coachella, III Points, Day for Night books and book interesting, wonderful electronic acts.
Take the same approach to lower-level bands and rappers. Don't hound the Spotify trending charts for whoever is popping off a certain week, find bands that have an album or a few EPs that seem destined for greatness.
Make Thursdays great again.
Stop booking the same shit at the Silent Disco and Christmas Barn and find cheap, great DJs (see Okeechobee's Jungle 51 for reference).
Have late nights go for as long as the artists like.
Don't pad the time between sets on the same stages.

The problem mostly lies in Fozzie's last point and the word 'unique' and the part where livenation is soulless and plastic and I could have seen 311 at my local livenation amphitheater.
