I wonder if they'd throw Migos in there. Seems insane
Wouldnt surprise me, the crowds align. Theyve done it plenty in the past with Gucci Mane, Mac Miller, DJ Khaled, Tory Lanez, Lil Uzi Vert, Skepta, Vince Staples, Rae Sremmurd, G-Eazy, etc
Yeah but Migos is considerably bigger than any of those people.
Ya, all the mainstream hip hop will be in there, which is a great idea! Good way to liven up those acts.
Pretty great idea! It's interesting that they moved away from big room and towards booking more commercial hip hop/mumble rap. There's a TON of interest in that genre and it helps move tickets, maybe more so than them booking the same 15-20 big room acts at every other EDM fest.
Posted this on the Coachella boards, but will post in here too, for anyone whose last minute FOMO proves too great and books late and/or has a housing situation they're not thrilled about -
Our group has a house booked walking distance to the festival for Weekend 1. Having a lot of friends still on the fence or who dropped out and are looking to fill the house with a couple spots and I wanted to be proactive in filling given ~2 weeks left. Pool, hot tub, good group of folks (most are late 20s from LA, San Fran, and Portland), and walking distance. PM me if you're interested for more details on cost, VRBO link, etc.
Does anyone here actually care if The Weeknd puts out new music before hand? Like is it make or break for those going? My guess is no one really gives a shit.

I'd only care if he suddenly reverted to making similar music to the three mixtapes, but there's like a .01% chance of that happening so I'm pretty indifferent to this whole thing.
I think the general population definitely cares whether he drops new music though.

This is the part I really doubt. Like surely no one's Coachella is banking on whether or not new music comes to fruition.
That said I have a ticket available for face if these 6 songs don't surface before hand. PM me.

Well by "care" I just meant people are interested. It would've been stupid to buy a ticket to this and require new Weeknd music to make the ticket worthwhile, and I doubt anyone did that.

Seriously? I made up that #scoop because I thought people would be upset about no new album, wouldnt go, and then the festival would be in ruins. Foiled again!

So in short, most are indifferent was my original point.

I think there’s a reason we are starting to see a pattern of artists releasing new music in advance of their Coachella performances. Kendrick last year, Weeknd and Cardi B this year. It builds hype, gets them noticed. People care.
I mean sure I’ll listen to music if he puts it out and these kinds of performances usually act as a promotional springboard. It just seems like this thread has put an usual amount of importance on whether or not new music happens. Which ultimately leads me to ask the question who gives a shit? The people who are going for The Weeknd will still get what they want yadda yadda.

I think if it effects the setlist people would care, more so for weekend 2 because they would have a better idea of this. I think Starboy was better than most people do but there were def some not great songs on there that he was playing live, and if he pulls those from the live rotation to go to either more new stuff or more older stuff that might fit the vibe of the new album more, I think people will care. I know I will for his future fest appearances.
