Good question, unfortunately I do not think either has free breakfast but could be wrong (I think the Westin would be more likely to than the Riv if either does). Both have food available at the pool and I know the Riv has a restaurant in the hotel and the Westin has a small convenience store type thing on-site.
The Westin has restaurants close by, I just think you'd need to take a short ~5 min car ride to them. The Riv has some easy, cheap, good brunch spots walking distance.
I'd be torn between the two again, but if you are someone who gets in really early, I'd take advantage of the shorter shuttle. If more of a party vibe is important to you and you stay later, probably try the Riv.

Def love getting there early before the crowds build, plus Coachella stacks the lineup from head to toe I barely have any downtime regardless. The party element is whatever, we stayed at the Hilton Rancho Mirage and that didn't have much of a party vibe. Would've stayed there again but it went from being $737 for four nights to double...
Those are some HUGE venues for her. It's bizarre she was marketed and introduced as this alt-pop act and has morphed into R&B-lite sound with her new material. Having seen Charli XCX at a couple festivals she made a big mistake booking her as an opening act, she's a much stronger live performer than Halsey.
Halsey sold out MSG last tour cycle, she's been huge y'all.
MSG is a 18k seat venue in a city of 8 million...I'm interested in how she's going to sell out a 18k seat venue in Cleveland or Calgary. Also, who the fuck is PARTYNEXTDOOR?
My girlfriend's roommate went to Stagecoach last weekend and has been coughing up a lung non stop since she got back. So I guess I have that to look forward to if I ever make it out there.

It gets worse weekend after weekend from WK1 to WK2 to Stagecoach. Most of Stagecoach is just desert dust being tossed around.
Typically get a so-so cough for about a week after the fest when I go weekend one. This year got a bit of a cold and was coughing pretty bad until the next weekend, but I put up with it.

I always see people talking about that Jean Michel Jarre guy in this thread. They have a ticketmaster deal to see him at Radio City in NY for $20 in two weeks. I am not that familiar with his stuff. Worth going to or nah?

Probably, he's a big figure for electronic music.
Right on. Any recommendations on tracks or albums I should listen to?
Just saw some vids from the kickoff of the Depeche Mode tour, if theyre really headlining 2018 you're in for a treat. The set list looks awesome, decent amount of deep cuts from the 80s.

cool cool can't wait for you to pretend to go next year and then tell us all how good DM was but how shitty the crowd is
So I'm sitting at LAX waiting for a flight (only 4 more hours due to a delay FML) and I thought I'd share my thoughts on my first Coachella while it's all still relatively fresh in my mind.

Seriously.. The fuck is going on man? We got one person who has an account specifically to call out another persons account, who lies about attending festivals?
