Agreed. Chance only if he has a new album by then like Kendrick this year, Vampire Weekend is likely a strong #2 at this point, and a big Kanye comeback show with a new album to promote sounds right up GV's alley.
I trust everyone ITT to keep us updated on cheap hotel availability.
I've been perusing and found that many hotels have jacked up rates even more for next year. I managed to find a few, though, but it still may be a bit early.
You're nuts. They'd headline. Even Co-Headline would be a stretch.
They are 5 at ACL. Puts them right in the 4-6 range, and Coachella is a bigger fest.
That means nothing. It literally could just mean that the 4 acts ahead of them on the bill are all super pretentious about their billing and Gorillaz said we dont give a fuck, so ACL was able to make the 4 acts ahead of them happy.
Vampire Weekend is likely a strong #2 at this point
How?
Critically acclaimed trio of albums. If their next album is similar to their last in critical and commercial appeal, they'd be a repeat #2 like the xx and Bon Iver this year.

Oops I thought you meant #2 overall not just for their day, I agree. I would be very surprised if they headline.

They were #3 on Sunday 2013 behind Arcade Fire and Beck, so going to sub-headliner slot would actually be a slight promotion for them.

Arcade Fire and Beck were 2014. They were behind RHCP and Nick Cave
Feel like the headliners/sub-headliners next year will be something like:
Depeche Mode / The National
Beyoncé / Fleet Foxes
Arcade Fire / Lana Del Rey
This one (while most will probably be there) just feels too likely. Maybe switch Arcade with Gorillaz and save one of those subs for next year - those three just aren't different enough to all hold the #2 spots imo.
Edit: also I would like to think ATCQ takes a #2 spot

Fleet Foxes wouldn't be a two, I think they'll be third (or even fourth on their day) depending on how big the new album is. They're billed 9th at Outside Lands, so 4-6 at Coachella is pretty unlikely. Robin said last fall they are trying to make Coachella 2018 work, though, so I am hopeful they are there.
Depeche Mode Lana Del Rey - alt-J
Beyonce The National - A Tribe Called Quest
Chance the Rapper Vampire Weekend - Fleet Foxes
Would be pretty nice and not super unrealistic (tho I'm not a chance or alt-J fan)

I'd imagine we will see some EDM in the top 9 names as well.
