It's going to be Beyoncé/ ????/ Gorillaz Maybe NIN. Definitely somebody from the rock genre.
Why are people so confident in Gorillaz? Because GV is promoting the Demon Dayz thing? Well, LiveNation is doing OSL and the impending U.S. tour this fall it seems like, so they may have already committed to them for Gov Ball or something, which puts them out of reach for Coachella/Panorama double booking. Also, it seems like sloppy seconds on both the part of OSL and their own part given their 2010 set received a meh reception. [Insert Launchpad making a "they had no problem getting '16's sloppy seconds this year!" comment.]
If I had to guess on the last two headliners I think it would be a large, big budget act that hasn't played Coachella before or recently (Depeche Mode, Pearl Jam, Fleetwood Mac, potential Oasis reunion, Springsteen live return) and a GV package deal from this year (Frank Ocean, Nine Inch Nails, Chance the Rapper, mayyyyybe a Tame Impala promotion)

i think it is extremely likely Gorillaz are the LCD of 2018 and LN/GV wont matter.

Depeche Mode played in 2006.
That's why I said "or recently." Anything pre-2009 was almost a whole different fest.

Outside Lands is not LiveNation. Also it just kinda makes sense Gorillaz next year. Arcade Fire 2019. Bey plus Gorillaz plus NIN or Depeche Mode or whomever is very respectable.
I think Gorrilaz will end up being slightly more exclusive than this page reads. The singles this far have been massive though.. I doubt GV will miss an opportunity to have them on this album cycle.
NIN is more a mid-tier placeholder at this point and probably one Coachella could afford to live without.

NIN are awesome and would provide diverse contrast to the other acts they book. Don't undersell them. Edit: you are also going to be wrong about exclusivity.

NIN would provide diverse contrast to the other acts they book like RATM, Tool, Coheed, Street Sweeper Social Club, QOTSA, Serj Tankian, How to Destroy Angels, and even NIN.
I will also not undersell them even though they couldn't fill a medium-sized venue with Soundgarden in Dallas, a place capable of producing droves of fledgling butt-rockers.

How have these singles been "massive"? They haven't charted anywhere in the US (rock/alt radio, pop radio, Hot 100, etc.) and the last time Gorillaz toured the US it got mixed reviews do to the fact that much of their shows used pre-recorded vocals for the guests.
Go back and watch that Gorillaz set at Coachella from 2010, it's quite underwhelming. Besides Drake, they may have been the most disappointing headliner they've ever had.
I'm going with Beyonce - Oasis - Justin Timberlake for 2018...

The Gorillaz set in 2010 was solid and Calvin Harris was way worse than Drake

Yeah, I know this board has a wild obsession with Gorillaz, and they could certainly be on the radar but it's definitely not a huge miss for GV if they don't book them for next year.
2010 set had a meh reaction. New album will be a full year old by the time Coachella 2018 rolls around. Headlining a huge festival in California the year prior. Probably doing multiple SoCal arena shows the year prior.
Metallica got Euro dates then, don't look too likely.
They have a two week break in that tour during Coachella
Someone on the board said that they expressed that they like to take two week gaps when touring. Wouldn't make a ton of sense to come out here right in the middle of a European tour.
