Do any weekend 2 people need a camping buddy? I have no way to get from the airport to the fest and I will be turning 21 that Saturday so I can’t rent a car. Will obviously chip in where necessary.
Skimmed some of this tonight (sober January paying off!). Around 1:20 in he does the laser harp stuff and then blows up a ton of fireworks and shit around 1:27. Assuming he gets a protected outdoor set, I can see this set being some really cool shit. And yes, I'm talking about the blow shit up part of the act, not the music.
Some of the music on the earlier albums like Oxygene and Exquinoxe was very good. He'd do a lot of outdoor laser type shows that no one else was really doing at the time. So on the rare occasion he played in America, some of those shows were big. I think he's from France, but a lot of it was similar in some respects to what Tangerine Dream and Kraftwerk were doing - just a different style. Those acts to me are the original electronica acts, a decade or longer before the rave or house era of the mid/late 80's.
still pissed i missed half of Thundercats set because my shuttle driver missed a left to turn into the coachella property and had to drive completely around the entire estate. fuck that guy.
If it was weekend 2 you didn't miss much. That show was kind of a mess and started pretty late.

I know that. The two bands have the same lead singer. He said "we", as in Tool, and could possibly be referring to Maynard. The Coachella thing might not even be something he said, as it is in parentheses. It was likely added after the fact by the publication. Pretty sure if Tool was playing Coachella it wouldn't be announced off-handedly in an interview in Metal Injection. I'm just trying to offer a possible explanation, man.
My guess is it's short hand for something like "Maynard is playing Coachella in April, then we have gigs like Rock on the Range in May" but that is a weird comment

Just real quick on that topic: Adam Jones did a Facebook live or Periscope or some such where he said the music is done and the lyrics are coming. So. Maybe 2020.

Danny keeps saying this year for sure. Probably not May, but I believe it's coming.

Outside of Soulwax, I'm most sad to be missing that Detroit Love set, it's gonna be soooooo dope.
Not going anymore?
After digging more into the undercard, there's a shocking amount of stuff I want to see. Not going to enjoy these inevitable conflicts.
Nah they tried to force me to buy a shuttle pass and I decided to pass. My group is still going though, so if ticket prices drop on stubhub I might pick one up last second and just hop in their car.

Gotcha. The shuttle pass bundles kinda suck, but we enjoyed using the shuttle well enough last year.
My impression has been that week of prices go up as people give up on trying to sell and supply drops. 2-3 weeks out seems to be the sweet spot if you’re flexible. Maybe I’m all washed though
Edit: right now Weekend 2 tickets are sitting roughly where the seller will break even after fees. They’ll probably stay around there for a while until people willing to take a haircut start pushing the price down, then it’ll drop a bunch I bet.
