Saw him open for Sufjan on his tour in 2015. Was just a one man show doing instruments & voice effects with loop pedals. Was a pretty interesting half hour.
Did you see them at FYF or elsewhere? Their FYF show was a fucking disaster and I was so embarassed I dragged all my friends there, but people I trust who have seen them in small clubs rave about them.
So I'm hoping if they play mid afternoon in the Sonora, it could still be a nice show.
Given I don't really have it in me to get into the festival any early than 2:30 PM anymore, I'm going to be pretty devastated if Rolling Blackouts Coastal Fever and The Buttertones get tent opening sets at noon, instead of like 3 PM Sonora shows. Both shows are going to be excellent, I just want people there for them.

FYF, one of the worst things I've ever heard.
They were fine both enthusiasm and sound wise when I saw them in Richmond last summer, surprised to hear they shit the bed at FYF.

Their Newport set was pretty good except for this one part where the singer did a 4 minutes terrible guitar solo in the middle of a song instead of a simple riff that’s in the studio version.

I thought that was one of the best parts of the set

Don't know if I'd call it a "guitar solo" though
Same. For me the rest of the set was a mess but that song almost redeemed it.
Is there a specific date for it? I've been trying to find any info about it but it's been fruitless.
My guess if they announce shows Tues/Wed with tickets on-sale Thurs/Friday.
Goldenvoice isn't big on the "announcement of the announcement" stuff, so I'd just set twitter notifications for GV on Monday and wait for it to drop vs. searching for it.

Thanks for the info. I mean, some shows have been announced already, but I still wonder if there'll be other possible big shows in LA like Soulwax/Jamiroquai.
Yeah, for sure. I wouldn't rule out Jamiorquai doing the Shrine and Soulwax the Fonda, given how rare it is for them to get to LA.
Another thing I'm trying to keep an eye on are the Pappy & Harriet's shows. I finally stepped inside that place last weekend and good god it is small. Thursday night is my traditional get hammered with my buddies night in Palm Springs, but if there's a good Thursday show at P&H it may be hard to pass up.

Do they usually have Thursday night shows at P&H? I've heard great things, and can't believe everyone from Paul McCartney to Jon Hopkins have played in there.

Nice. I went to the Young Turks event at the Air Museum with Jamie xx, Ben UFO, Four Tet, Sampha, etc. last year, which was so much fun. Hoping there's something awesome like that again.
I also didn't know they did "outdoor" P&H shows, but looks like Little Dragon, Future Islands, and Glass Animals all played outdoor shows last year.
I saw Caribou play an outdoor show there in 2015 and it was A+
Good to know! Hoping whoever they book this year is sweet. Little Dragon would've been nice to catch, but couldn't pass up on Jamie xx, Four Tet and Ben UFO action.
