Think the Gov's Ball guys are smarter than to book Em next year, but we'll see.
Feel like whoever is booking Em next year is sitting on a bomb. Not a lot of return for a lot of money and a meh set
Why not a lot of return of money? He's one of the biggest touring acts out there. The last time he came to the NYC area he sold out two nights at MetLife Stadium (around 160,000 tickets total).
If he played his day would most definitely sell out fast.

Maybe I phrased that wrong and maybe I'm still pissed at his boring 2011 Bonnaroo set, but for the fests that will sell out regardless (ACL, Coachella, Lolla, Gov Ball, etc.) I just think it'll be a lot of money for a set that that will almost definitely be mediocre supporting an almost definitely mediocre album. I hope I'm proved wrong if he's at a fest I'm attending, just saying there aren't many "1s" I'd be less excited about.
I wouldn't know the economics behind if he's expensive enough to hamper the undercard for a fest the size of Gov Ball, Panorama, Firefly, etc.
I wouldn’t mind Em. He has the back catalogue. I just have heard awful things about him live. I would still take him over someone like J Cole though
FWIW, my wife was at the 2011 Bonnaroo show the poster above mentioned as boring, and raves about it. I think you're right in that, if he put together a set heavy on back catalogue, it could be a great experience.
I just still feel like this skews old. Your three headliners are all older crowd-appealing, as are YYYs.
I know I keep harping on this, but having seen the crowd demographic last year, I would just be stunned if Founders didn't lean hard into the youth movement this coming year.

I'm pretty sure Eminem had a backing track going the entire time.

Eminem at roo let me see Eminem and Royce da 5'9" together live which I never thought would happen. I enjoyed most of the show, too. Backing tracks with rap is something you have to expect a lot of times. Just the nature of the set. Unless they have a full band or something.

He probably did. He definitely had it when I saw him 2 months after Roo 2011

That really shouldn't be an excuse... I don't think most of the hip hop acts I saw at Meadows/Pana this year had backing tracks. At least none as noticable as Em that year.
This is the first message board I've ever been on, the only reason I joined is because I love Bonnaroo and wanted to read and talk about it all year long.

What justifies the Yeah Yeah Yeah's being a headliner at this festival. Last time they were around 4 years ago they played on the 3rd line of most fests and their album was pretty mediocre.
Outside of a bit of a recent surge in fascination in the early-2000's NYC indie rock scene, I don't see what justifies them as anymore than a sub on the 2nd/3rd line.

YYYs are so not a headliner. Their show at Barclays a few years ago was one of the worst turn outs I’ve ever seen in my life.

Did anybody see their ad on Facebook, saying “Special announcements coming soon... be the first to know! 🤭” and to join their mailing list? I don’t know how long it’s been up. I’d assume they just put it up. I guess we should be getting info soon.
11/19: Caribou 11/22: Ranger Trucco 11/29: Armand Van Helden* 1/16: L'Impératrice 1/30: Jamie xx 2/1: DJ Seinfeld 2/7: Mild Minds* 3/1: Father John Misty* 3/19: Confidence Man 3/23: DARKSIDE 5/8: Rüfüs Du Sol
Pipe dream or not, I'm holding onto Frank. Posted "Well I made the album before 30..." on his tumblr. I personally can't wait for this lineup to drop, regardless of who's on it. Think it's gonna be a good one
