Ive never been to Forest Hills for a show, is it any good as a venue?
Well they pull the plug at 10:00 on the dot because it’s a NIMBY neighborhood. I’ve only ever been on the floor and it sounds good enough for an outdoor venue.

I enjoy it more than Barclays or MSG. It's not the best but if the weather's nice it can make for a great night for the right show. MMJ there last summer was excellent. PTM should do well
this looks like it says one thing but really it says “I know something you don’t know nya nya”
Pretty sure I have said before that they are doing Forest Hills on here. But I am just legit not on social media right now. Sorry if you took it the wrong way.
Forest Hills is going to get a lot of good shows this year. Pretty positive Arctic Monkeys are doing two nights there instead of Pano in late summer early fall.

They had a pretty solid season last year too. The xx, Chance, MMJ, The National, Interpol, Petty (fuck, man), Van Morrison, Sigur Ros, Dispatch, Hall & Oates + Tears for Fears
Arctic Monkeys is nice though. Hopefully that's before I leave the city

Yeah, I saw three fantastic shows at Forest Hills last year - Sigur Ros, the National, and MMJ, which was hands-down my favorite concert of 2017 (it was like they pulled the set list directly from my brain, the weather was perfect...just a fantastic night). I really dig the venue. I'm absolutely in for Portugal. The Man, there.

Agreed on that MMJ show. The best I've seen them play in the last couple years, and a lot of people seemed to be of the same opinion. Ended up talking to someone who was there outside another show a week or so later and we were both still buzzing on it. I've listened back to the recording a couple times since then and it holds up. In fact...
One of the funniest things i've ever seen at a concert happened here at Interpol. People were begging for a setlist and this meathead stagehand picked it up and shredded into a thousand pieces. You can tell he probably wanted to be a cop but failed the academy.
Have we figured out who's gonna play opposite of Travis Scott on Saturday night? I think Halsey is only getting an hour at Okeechobee too
I mean, if it's not Halsey (please, please, pretty please), it has to be either Gaslight or Silk City...and, between those two, I'd imagine Gaslight would make more sense thematically appearing opposite a hip-hop artist. But, I dunno - are Gaslight big enough for a day-closing set?

Gaslight is playing a venue that is less than 1,000 in DC. I really really dont think they are gonna close out a stage

I still kind of wish they'd pull a crazy move and put Cut Copy in that slot. It'd be unprecedented for someone that far down the day's lineup to be in the co-headliner position, so I'm not expecting it in the slightest. But I'd be pretty psyched.
Basically, I'm in ABH (Anyone But Halsey) mode, at this point.

I think that's a bit too wishful thinking unfortunately. Cut Copy couldn't sell out Terminal 5. Gaslight Anthem could probably sell out a T5 + a Brooklyn Steel.
Gaslight is definitely big enough to close a stage. Who cares how crowded it is, when the main stage is not packed up it doesn't look great. Phoenix was a bit sad.

Not great. Decent, though. I didn't like it when I was in the seats but general admission was alright. And it's right next to the train/bars so it's easy to get to

Looking like I'll do the PTM show in september. They'll be at BK Steel this month but it's during the week and that's not the easiest venue to get there if I'm taking the train. Really want to see them again.

Plus, only people who buy tix to the FH show can buy tix to the BK Steel show, which...I don't know how I feel about that.
Friends and I got presale GA tix for the FH show, though. Only seven and a half months to wait!

What didn't you like about the seats? Underwhelming acoustics?

Well a majority of the seating is high-school style metal bleechers with no backs and it can be a tight squeeze when trying to exit your row for a drink or for bathroom (all of which are down on the ground level so you have to go all the way down to get to them).
Sound was fine....more about comfort. Though I guess if I go GA then it's tightly squeezed and standing for a few hours. But I definitely enjoyed My Morning Jacket more (when I did floor tickets) than the Van Morrison show (sitting in the bleachers in the middle of the row).

Wow. I didn't realize the seating there was that lousy. On a hot day that has to be brutal.

Yea, there are some normal seats in there but I prefer just getting the GA floor and being free to move about. They've upgrade the bathroom situation (used to be just straight up porto potties but now they're a little more legit like Roo has done near some of the campsites) and have some good vendors there. And it's easy to go in early and get food/drinks and head to the show.
Definitely not a bad venue. Just the bleachers kind of suck. Go for lower level ( I think those green looking seats a bit lower have backs and arm rests) or floor and you're good to go.
I won a lot of tickets to shows there last summer through DoNYC contests. For some of the smaller names it seemed like they'd get a pretty good amount of tickets to give away.
Definitely worth entering when those contests pop up if you have a passing interest in anyone playing there
