In all fairness, we got spoiled last year with such an early release. It coincided with a special event they were curating.
Yeah, we've been spoiled more and more every year... the announcement dates since they returned in 2014:
2014: December 4th, 2013 (~24 acts listed) 2015: November 11th, 2014 (~29 acts listed) 2016: October 20th, 2015 (~41 acts listed) 2017: October 5th, 2016 (~63 acts listed)
So... more acts and earlier dates as time went on (of course there was an additional day added in there as well). We're at, what, maybe 25 teases so far? Using 2014's standards, we have the entire initial line-up, two months early
Something just feels off about saying “two weeks, maybe sooner” and then still hinting a over a month down the road. Maybe I’m wrong, I dunno.
They actually said "while our initial lineup announcement is only a very few weeks away - perhaps sooner..." which is a little more ambiguous, but yeah, it does feel off.

Ahh you’re right. I think I associated a number in my head.

[EDIT: per the website, it's actually 5 mins before the show starts... better than 10, but still tough in some situations]
It looks like they're holding the same rules for VIP as last year (guaranteed entrance / premium seating until 10 mins before the show starts). That's probably going to be the VIP deal breaker for me this year. Given the distance of venues and overlapping schedule, I think I had two seated shows where I was in 10 min before the show started. I understand that late arrivals in the front can be disruptive, but people come and go throughout the shows anyway. It's hard to justify the cost when you can't take advantage of the most important benefit. I wonder if the Proletariats will rebel once they see that I'm sitting with them this year? I may need to bring a disguise

Just find us and party. By party I mean middle age party where we complain about walking, waiting in line, making fun of Rummy and buying each other early beers because we all have to drive that night. We’re really a blast to be around.

I’m down with that! Though, honestly, as mentioned above, I was only able to take advantage of the VIP seating last year for two shows. So, not much will change either way.
I participated that VIP ticket giveaway. If I win it, anyone of you from that 'middle age party' is welcome to be my +1. (Except if you are Phi, as he didn't get me any beer at FYF )

Count me in for anything involving making fun of Rummy.

I am pretty certain it's not a tease, but I wouldn't mind having Robyn Hitchcock back again. Not one bit. [EDIT: that auto-censor always catches me by surprise]

Don't forget the priest who has to leave early Saturday night because he has church Sunday morning.

This is, like, a super accurate description. Unfortunately
Considering you've found the need to respond to my threads as if you are threatened by me I offer you some peace my confused counterpart. May you find peace in your restless soul.

It’s always a long shot but if you were to win this, I know an former Inforooer in need. He had a stupid bicycle accident and won’t be able to pay off medical bills in time.
Same goes for all you folk. He’s seriously the one of the best.
I’m actually going through my finances to see if I can at least wrangle him a GA this year.

Do you they let you use street team points for it?
OMG I forgot about that. They tried to charge me for the alarm, too.

They have in the past. You have to message them about passes as they do not stock them in the store due to low demand.

I'll admit... there have been more than a few "hints" that I've thought, "really? again, even?" but I keep optimistically viewing those as "great - that's not going to be a conflict!" I figure for the 4 day event, I'm just looking for 16 - 20 'must see' artists out of the ~100 that end up being announced. So far, these are my MUST SEE HINTS - Godspeed You! Black Emperor, Diamanda Galas, Arto Lyndsay, Arca, Kid Koala, Roscoe Mitchell, Four Tet, The Necks, GAS, Craig Taborn, Ståle Storløkken, Bang on a Can All-Stars... so I just need 4 - 8 more must sees to be dropped on Wednesday!
I'm not expecting them to drop any huge names with the lineup on the horizon. I'd love to be wrong but with what's teased. If both Arca and Sakamoto are indeed teased, my pre-lineup drop top 5 looks like -
