While I'm a pretty big Incubus fan (seen them 3 or 4 times? I can't remember tbh), they really aren't that great live. Little to no audience engagement... makes me sad.
Brandon can still sing pretty well though and I still love their music.
Anyway ATL people, Ohm fest is tonight in EAV. Head there to hit up some local bands!

Fairly similar experience when I saw them 2 years ago but I’m hoping to give them another go, especially in a festival environment
I'm a big National fan. Trouble Will Find me was a grower for me and seeing the songs performed live at Bonnaroo definitely elevated it. I still haven't been able to get into the latest. I was really bummed I didn't get to catch YYY's last year once Sound On Sound was cancelled. If I had to pick between who of the two to see live at a festival, I'd go with YYY's, at least for this year.

In past SK, there's been an "older band" that is on the 3rd line that plays a great album in entirety.... Violent Femmes played their debut album in 2014 I think, then Social Distortion played their debut album in 2015,and 2016 had Huey Lewis and the News playing Sports all the way thru. Any acts that might show up at SK on the 3rd or 4th line that could play an album set?

I would bet on Gaslight Anthem playing ‘59 Sound. Already doing it at Gov Ball.
Wondering if this is a generational thing. The National have stayed in the conversation this decade far more than YYYs have for obvious reasons, so for us young folk I feel like they're just the more likely band to be exposed to and get into.

I will take the other side of that bet - I think the Gov Ball coughed some extra cash for the local band (NJ but still) to come out of their hiatus in NY
I can accept whatever top 3 if the undercard gives me say 18-20 of these:
Fleet Foxes/David Byrne/ MGMT/Sufjan Stevens/ Slowdive/Godspeed You Black Emperor /The War on Drugs/ Broken Social Scene/Deerhunter/ Dirty Projectors/PandaBear/KurtandCourtney/Japandroids/BlackAngels/KingKrule/OfMontreal/Phosphorescent/ParquetCourts/PerfumeGenius/WolfAlice/Alvays/BryanJonestownMassacre/GuidedByVoices/TheeOhSees/LEON/ Mild High Club/Hundred Waters/This Will Destroy You/Priests/Japanese Breakfast/Do Make Say Think/Waxahatchee/Jenny Hval/KellyLeeOwens/The Men/

Built to Spill are playing Keep it Like a Secret in its entirety at fests.
Would people outside of NYC actually care for Yeah Yeah Yeahs as a headliner/top act?
That's what I'm thinking. I understand Gov Ball being a hometown fest, but I can't see that many people being excited about it. I know I won't. Subheadliner spot would be fine. But I really don't think a lot of people would be thrilled with giving them a top spot.

If we're realistically down to JW, QOTSA, YYY's, JW, The National... I'm praying we at least get the National because I would not be excited about any of the others. Come on Shaky, let there be one headliner I want to see. I still think Arcade Fire is possible though. And I'm still cheering for Fleet Foxes to get that headlining spot. It'd really be a shocker if QOTSA didn't show up, but what if they didn't? All we know is they have a gap between being in Florida and Canada right? Would open up some possibilities, if they weren't a headliner.
Would really love if QotSA didn't show up on the lineup. After the kicking incident, seeing their name at the very top of the bill will sour the lineup just a bit for me. I'm sure they will though.

We HAVE to get The National. They're in Ohio the week before, no ATL date on this album cycle. It makes way too much sense. I'm trying not to think about it too much because because I'll be bummed if they're not there but we're within 24 hours so I can't resist anymore.

Same. Also because I don't like their music much either.

Dinosaur Jr. was in Atlanta in October at Project Pabst. It's not disqualifying but they only come through here every few years so I wouldn't count on it.
