If we can get David Byrne and some of the undercard rappers like Amine and Kyle with Aurora and Bleachers (tho they are opening for Pink a month earlier, not sure if that counts but don't think it does) sprinkled in from Coachella that'll at least be something nice
some form of
Eminem |(some alt thing like Arcade Fire or Killers {willing to bet it won't be them} or even Arctic Monkeys or whatever | Some more older 'rock' act unless QotSA takes the top
with some form of
Queens of the Stone Age, Portgual. The Man, David Byrne, The National, Foster The People, Kyle, Amine, Aurora, Bleachers and others in the undercard with then some top 40 crappy rap starts and other pop bands + EDM maybe, I feel like the above would be the feel of it tho.
Someone on the Facebook was saying "Eminem, Arcade Fire, Queens of the Stone Age, Halsey, and The National you heard it here first!", then later replied to someone saying "according to my sources Nine Inch Nails won't be there", either way if they have Halsey I'm gonna be upset lol

Those are all pretty easy guesses.
Eminem's basically confirmed. QOTSA are a lock. The National are basically a lock.
Halsey played BC right before she blew up and would make sense to come back now that she's huge.
Arcade Fire's the only real shot in the dark but there are only like 5 or so contenders for the "indie/rock headliner" spot and they feel like the most likely with Arctic Monkeys, Vampire Weekend, and Jack White all laying relatively low so far.

Oh yeah I agree with all of that, I just hate Halsey lol
While I'm not into arcade fire I'd love to see Wake Up, aka one of my favorite songs ever and one of the best songs ever written in the 2000s, live
It's gonna be 45 acts, so I'm hopeful for another unique lineup by Crash Line with some artists that make you wanna cringe while others you can't bloody believe they are doing BC.

I absolutely despise halsey as well but i like all the other artists that fb comment mentioned. However as much as i love qotsa i dont see them as a headliner so ill be dissappointed if they do headline. Edit: I would love to see David Byrne there for sure, especially if he plays some Talking Heads stuff.

I think he'd be doing his new tour that 'is the most complicated tour he's done since stop making sense' which he'll do new music and play 'songs I'm sure you'd know' so I think he would! Be a dream to see him live lol
9 artists crossed over between Coachella and BC last year.
I'll guess:
SZA Tyler, the Creator Fleet Foxes Portugal. the Man Kamasi Washington Tash Sultana Alina Baraz Greta Van Fleet Big Thief
Belly and PVRIS too, but they're locals
fingers crossed for David Byrne
With PVRIS's nearest date on their current tour being in Providence and playing HOB back in..November I think, I'd say it's pretty likely too. Not big fan of them either tho lol

Never really checked them out, but I can pretty much guess exactly what they sound like based on the name. I just know they're the big Boston indie-pop-whatever band at the moment

Actually I'm pretty sure they are a bit towards the 'emo' group rather an indie from what I have gathered. I suppose not 'hard rock emo angry angsty punk', moreso the lyrics of maybe Twenty One Pilots with the soundtrack of early Paramore, but maybe I'm completely misremembering the one song I heard from them.
But they have -I think- a MASSIVE dedicated fanbase.
While I'd love to have Kendrick won't Em sadly replace him? Have they ever had 2 rappers out of the 3 headline slots?
EDIT: they *did* have Nas + the Roots and Childish Gambino headline 2 different nights in '14 (Bino was awesome), so I guess it's possible but I'd say unlikely.

Complicating the Belly question is that there's a recording/touring rapper named Belly, too. I know that reunited rock band Belly is recording a new album and will likely be on the road this year, but could the Coachella Belly be the rapper?
I can't help but think that one of the headliners/second liners will be fairly unique to Boston Calling. They'll always sell tickets to the locals, but to attract out of towners who are choosing between festivals, you want something that will set you apart from every other festival within a thousand miles.

Yeah it very well might be the rapper. At this point I don't really care. Odds are I wouldn't see either one at BC.
We're approximately 36 hours away from the lineup and at this point I'm done predicting shit. Or at least until the Gov Ball lineup comes out in a couple hours

Strangely, The National/Lorde/The Replacements were the advertised top line, but Gambino and Nas X The Roots ended up closing their nights.

Frank Ocean would be my #1 hope for this. Justin Timberlake, Björk, Childish Gambino, and Missy Elliott would also all potentially fit the bill.

There's been a real precedent in recent years of the Super Bowl halftime headliner announcing a big tour the day after the big game. I'd think that JT would be more likely to do an arena/ballpark tour, maybe even wrapped up in a co-headlining thing with N'Sync.
Plus, I'd think that if he was doing fests this year, Coachella would have given him the spot occupied by The Weeknd.
Doing the festival circuit as the final leg of a two-year world tour sounds more likely to me. (Of course, as is the case with Gambino, you never know how movie & TV commitments will impact the amount of time they spend on the road.)

I swear, where do you come up with this stuff sometimes?
this is not going to end well after seeing the gov ball lineup
They never have quite as much crossover as you'd think. Looks like 10 last year, almost all of them relatively solid.
BC lucks out by being the weekend before the Euro fests kick off and can snag artists at the end of a US run like The xx or Sigur Ros last year.
Also there's plenty on Gov Ball's lineup I'd love to see at BC. Just hoping we manage to avoid the Post Malone bullet, because we're definitely getting Halsey.

ew, then let's hope whatever happened to David Byrne playing Gov Ball then dropping out doesn't happen to BC

What the quack are you talking about? Most acts which have headlined the Super Bowl have announced an arena tour and on-sale dates on the Monday after the Super Bowl since Tom Petty in 2008.
As for the N'Sync speculation, I read that 2018 is some sort of anniversary for them and there was talk about them doing something. I suspect that at the very least it would be something in the halftime show.
And if Timberlake was doing the festivals, don't you think he would have shown up on a lineup by now, especially Coachella? In what universe do the Coachella bookers say, "Yeah, we'll take The Weeknd over Justin Timberlake"?

You don’t make any sense about 90% of the times you post here and this isn’t any different.
